DayZ Tip: Use Garry's Mod's 'Legacy Browser' to Browse Through Server History
frostknivez posted a topic in General Discussion
I think everyone would like to see the last server they joined by viewing the history tab. Unfortunately that isn't possible as it doesn't tell you when you last joined it. Fortunately, you can use Garry's Mod's 'Legacy Browser' in the 'Find Multiplayer Game' menu. Just sort the servers so it's in ascending order on 'Last Played'. Then right click on the latest DayZ server (the one closest to the top, or whenever you joined it just look at the date and time) and press 'View Server Info'. Copy the IP address then use the 'Remote' tab in DayZ's server browser to remotely connect to it. Remember to put the 4 numbers after the colon in the 'Port' box. So if the IP was 212.38.163.67:2602 (Like in the screenshot above) You would put it in like this: Yes without the colon I hope this helps, and hopefully Rocket will implement a system where it tells you when you last played on a certain server. :P -

DayZ Tip: Use Garry's Mod's 'Legacy Browser' to Browse Through Server History
frostknivez replied to frostknivez's topic in General Discussion
You can find the Legacy Browser on pretty much any Valve game with multiplayer. Not sure about Dota because i don't play it, but I know theres one of Counter Strike and Half Life. I picked Garry's Mod because everyone has it -
Rocket: "why do we need slow vault?" [Suggestion]
frostknivez replied to Kushko's topic in Suggestions
I really hope they take this into consideration. I'm really fed up of being hit by zombies because I slow vault over a fence... then don't have any rags because I have a jacket I can't tear up. -

THIS IS OUTDATED AND WILL BE OF NO USE Hello survivors of Chernarus. As many of you know, there is a very limited amount of loot in this game currently, and it is very hard to get geared up. In this "Ultimate Loot Route" I will show you one of the best and easiest loot routes to get geared up in DayZ. Follow these simple steps and you will be all geared up to fight the zombie apocalypse. Step 1 - Joining a server: You will need to join a server with the least amount of people as possible. Max people 10, this will mean the loot would not have been taken by any other survivors. EDIT: This step might not work, the server could have been populated before and the loot already taken. If anything, try to join a server that you know has been recently restarted. (Thank you h0nkX for notifying me of this) Step 2 - Working out where you've spawned (Skip this if you're already alive and know where you are): You will need to work out where you've spawned and this is possible by looking at signs. "but da sines r all in russian!!1111" you might say. Yes... but because I like you :3 Russian English Kamenka Step 3 - Making our way to Balota: "y balota frestknifezz??" You may ask, it's because there are 3 barracks in Balota airfield + 2 high loot military buildings. Now, if you followed my instructions above by joining a low populated server, you will have all the loot to yourself and hopefully, nobody has taken any of it. That gives you a brief idea on where you have to go to get to Balota. I didn't bother adding in Novy Sobor because you're fucked anyway if you spawn there. Step 4 - Looting Balota: Before you make your way on to the airfield, you might want to loot the houses in Balota first to find any food, bags, clothing or anything you might need because this might be your only chance. Try to find a can opener/knife/screwdriver because you're going to get extremely hungry on this trip. Once you have looted the houses, make your way onto the airfield using the bottom left corner entrance. From there you want to loot the 3 barracks. DO NOT just go running in there like a retard, check your surroundings for zombies or survivors. After the barracks have been looted, make your way across the airfield to the greenish/whitish dull looking building (the prison) opposite the 2 barracks on the grass. This building has extremely high value military loot including food, melee weapons, pistols, M4A1's, ammo for both. I even found medical supplies in their once so it's a building you can't not loot (if that makes sence) Once you have striped that building down to nothing, it's time to make your way over to the second military building on the other side of the airfield. Make your way over and loot it for everything it has. If you are confused about this, here is a shitty picture showing the Balota route. (Optional) You could check the small "military base" just below the airfield, I don't recommend it because there isn't much loot there anyway. Step 5 - Making our way to Dubky: If you didn't know, Dubky is one of the many new citys in Chernarus plus. It is also the place where the 5 flats are just above Balota. In Dubky, there are a set of garages each containing extremely valuable loot including food, water, medical supplies, clothing, ammunition, tools and many many more things you will need for survival. (Food is pretty rare in these garages, that's why i said to loot the Balota houses before). Also, in these garages you will more than likely find a payday mask (Dallas, Hoxton or Wolf) AND an awesome gas mask to scare the shit out of new players. Here is the route you have to take to get from Balota to the garages in Dubky. Yes I know it is an extremely long trip, might take you 5-6 hours at least #sarcasm . But when you finally get there, you want to loot all of the garages there, every single one of them. Don't leave without looking in and looting all the garages, there will be some extremely helpful stuff in there. You can also loot the rest of the city as well if you're really in need of supplies. Step 6 - Making our way to the military base: Correct me if i'm wrong, but there are 2 main military bases in Chernarus plus. We will make our way from Dubky to the closest military base which is located just above Kamenka. I will show you the easiest way on getting to there with only a little chance of getting lost. Make your way to the end of this road here where it splits of into different directions. Next, you want to keep going forward in the direction where the road ends. Like this If you did this correctly, you should end up right outside/inside the military base. You will know it's the base when you see chain fence's in a dark forest. Step 7 (Final Step) - Looting the military base: So, now that you're inside of the military base, we need to loot it. The reason why I am making this step is because there are a few barracks that people miss because they are pretty hidden. Here are all the barracks inside of the military base. After you have looted the base, you should now be geared up for the zombie apocalypse. REMEMBER this is a route for starting, it just gets you all the guns, ammo, food, clothing... ect that you need. There are still many places on the map where high value loot can be found. This is just a starter. I hope this route helped you, please tell me what you think. Thank you Additional loot locations: The tents/small military base below Balota: These tents have the small things you might need/want for your survival. These include attachments for guns, bags and other small bits of loot you might be looking for. The 2 hospitals and 2 shops in Dubky: The shops and hospitals in Dubky contain food, medical supplies and other bits of loot like batteries, head torches, bags, vests, gun holders and more. You might want to check it out before you go to the military base. Just go up the road from the garages.

[OUTDATED] DayZ: The Ultimate Loot Route
frostknivez replied to frostknivez's topic in General Discussion
This entire post is old and the route doesn't work anymore. And I CBA to make an updated one -
Ok, I have this idea of how you die if you've been shot in the head by a headshot. The clip is from the dirty version of "Knife Party & Swedish House Mafia - Antidote" So instead of the boring "You Are Dead" text screen, it could be like it was in the gif above, sudden darkness with a white hole to represent the gunshot to your head. It would be really cool.

I'm talking about DayZ standalone

Shall we just not talk about bugs and have them never be fixed then? If we don't speak out about bugs we have found (Like CrazyandLazy just did) then they're not going to be patched. We know it's an alpha, that's why we are reporting these bugs so they're fixed for the final game.

Rocket is on Twitch right now for a Q & A session

Thanks :D -
I've had a couple of ideas with the animations for DayZ. i just wanted to share them with you, and now remember these are MY ideas and these probably won't even get to the final game anyway. I just wanted to share my ideas with you. Ok, so my first idea is how picking up loot works. My idea is when you click and drag the item into your jeans or whatever, your character actually grabs the loot and puts it in the exact place you put it in your inventory. Also to add to that, it would be cool if you can actually see loot on the character themselves, so lets say you have a can of beans in your assault vest, you can actually see that can of beans in one of the pockets in the vest. Same with any other item. My second idea is how zombies react when you shoot them. Maybe the zombies can jolt back if you shoot them. So lets say you shoot a zombie in the right shoulder, the zombie would like move his shoulder and react to the gun shot quickly. I really don't know how to explain it but a lot of other zombie games use it. I think L4D2 use it. Anyway, I don't think these ideas will get to the game because of the Real Virtuality engine. It's just ideas that I came up with. Feel free to add to this or tell me why it would never happen haha.
-
Yeah I didn't see that section, sorry
-
Did you? Oh haha. Hopefully it will be in the game :)
-
Here is an example of my first idea (In TLoU) This is without the idea of having him put it into the place you put it in your inventory, but it's a brief example on what i'm thinking of
-
That's exactly what I thought when I posted this haha

So I was making my way down to the coast to meet up with my friend. I was on the west of the map so of course I stopped off at green mountain. It has one of those jail buildings at the top of the mountain so I went inside. As I was looting the beds on the top floor WHAT DO YOU FUCKING KNOW I get teleported outside of the building and fall to my death.... Bye bye M4A1 Acog, a Magnum, 2 FXN45's, A shit ton of food, medical supplies and my FRESH BANANA in PRISTINE condition. "y dnt u jst get ur bodie bak"... the server decided to restart. I don't even know what to say... and don't bitch about it being alpha, they release alpha to get people to report bugs, and this is a game breaking bug that needs to be fixed. BTW is anyone else teleporting back and fourth? And just keep spazzing out? And on very rare occasions have their character lock itself so you cannot press a single button? Not even ESC... I literally cannot play the game, I hope these bugs get patched in the future. I was able to play just fine before the 3925 update rolled out. Now I is sad :'( About 6 hours of work was put into getting that gear (Yes I have no life, 90 hours played too). :'( So this is pretty much just a warning when you are looting building on a high floor, there will be a chance you might just teleport out the building and fall to your death. And no it wasn't my ping, my ping was 19 and my desync was 0. So guys, watch out.

Do they have a rough timeline of when vehicles will be implemented?
frostknivez replied to Johnny Depth's topic in General Discussion
There is no confirmed date for when vehicles are going to be implemented. I fucking hope it's soon, can't wait to drive around Balota in my super car fitted with hydraulics pickin' up bitches -
It does sound like a good idea, but aren't the broken civil vehicles containing loot already in the game? :P Or are you talking about something else. Also, there will have to be a lot of optimization if this was to happen, it will get very laggy, but i do like the idea
-
Not sure if this idea has been spoken about before. But I thought it would be a good idea if there was a timer for 15/30 seconds before you exit... and the ALT-F4 shortcut was COMPLETELY disabled. It is possible, I've seen many programs do it, and maybe you can only ALT-F4 on the main menu. Another suggestion to add to this is not allowing users to close the "DayZ.exe" process in the task manager, like virus scanners work. I'm not sure if it will work because it's alpha and it will crash a lot but it's just a suggestion. I really do hate these combat loggers, i'm thinking of every way possible to get them to fuck off.

[Suggestion] Stop Combat Loggers and ALT-F4'ers
frostknivez replied to frostknivez's topic in General Discussion
I mean i'm not sure if people have spoken about my specific ideas haha. I know hundreds of people have given their own suggestions on the topic :P
