Also this never happened in the Mod, ever. I can assure anyone of that and suggest you go play the Mod for a couple hours if you don't believe me. There are ambient sounds I.e. Branches breaking, birds, banging on metal, but the random sounds in SA are a different issue and it is nit intentional.
-
The random sounds are not intentional. Apparently these are other sounds from other players in other areas but are broken. We tested this by reloading, drinking, etc .. While being a mile away from my friend and I could hear him. If anyone seriously thought these sounds were intentional, I'd be concerned..

Hi guys, So far I love what has been done with the map, but I have some idea's of my own which I'd like to see. Rivers I haven't heard anything on this topic but if boats do get implemented, which I'm guessing they may do given Skalisty and Utes being there, I feel there should be a few rivers here and there leading inland. With fishing just being added as well, I think this would be pretty nifty. I'm no developer or map maker but I'm presuming it wouldn't be something easy to do, but maybe having 1-2 rivers (One north, one south) to lead inland for a few miles to a lake would add a new way of getting around and also gathering food. Altar Hill This hill is located between Gorka and Novy and is close to NWAF. Right now, as it did in ArmA II, it has nothing, except one house with a road leading to it. Given the height of the hill it is a fairly significant part of the map, yet serves no purpose. I feel something could be added up there, like a small military camp or just a small village? Make the map feel more apocalyptic/crises like? For those of you who played DayZero you would know they did an excellent job of making parts the map feel like a genuine infection had broken out. They had contamination zones, dead bodies hanging from cranes, mass graves, evidence of were soldiers had been holding up and killed. Things like this make DayZ more immersive and make it feel like there is a ongoing story. Only a few small suggestions that I think would help the map become even better!

Vanilla DayZ/SA - Possibly some mods - Looking for heroes to play with!
RDogg replied to steveblazer3's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Add me on Steam sometime! http://steamcommunity.com/id/RDODoubleGG/ We tend to play in neutral stance but remain approachable. We really only engage medium/large squads that are a potential threat. But players on the coast, individuals, and smaller groups we will help and interact with, but obviously not everyone is friendly, even when outnumbered! Guess you could say cautiously friendly! -
Is anyone else finding crashing to desktop MUCH more common?
RDogg replied to UltimateGentleman's topic in General Discussion
Same issue for me and friends. I have actually never had crashing issues with SA, which was the most surprising bit. -
Vanilla DayZ/SA - Possibly some mods - Looking for heroes to play with!
RDogg replied to steveblazer3's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Hi Steve, first of all, thank you for your service! Me and my friends are regulars on ArmA/DayZ. We play pretty much every evening, and we are on most weekends. We are from 18 upwards to late 20's or early 30's. We aren't a clan or anything, just a group of guys that play and enjoy working together in a squad like aspect. I started playing ArmA/DayZ about two years or so ago, we play a lot of other games too but ArmA/DayZ is home so to speak! I have over 1300 hours myself, which has resulted in me knowing Chernarus better than my own town nearly! Most of us come from MilSim backgrounds, a few of my friends are still involved in that aspect with the 16th Air Assault group, so we every now and then we run small/medium missions with ACE/ACRE, etc.. At the moment we are playing DayZ regularly. We tend to play the more vanilla mod/s more, mainly DayZero, and also other ones like Origins. We prefer the more vanilla/survival aspect, but from time to time we will have a laugh about on Epoch or Wasteland. We do play Standalone, not as often but have gotten more into it with some of the latest patches. In total there is probably around 10 or so of us, but we vary on numbers. We usually have about 4-6 of us including myself. We all have knowledge of ballistics, weapons, tactics, and working as a squad. We have our own TS as well. If you are interested let me know! -
Why are there basically no 3pp:off servers - grow a pair.
RDogg replied to dubghall's topic in General Discussion
Now we are just grasping at straws. Head bob on ArmA and DayZ, even on minimal, feels so unrealistic, like your neck is made of jelly. Think it would best this gets closed, nothing will change no matter how many points, good or bad, are made. There are servers out there on both SA and the Mod to cater for everyone, and if that's not enough there is always server hosting. -

RDogg replied to dubghall's topic in General Discussion
Just to correct DayZero is neither shitty or easy. It had both 1st or 3rd person servers, and is a lot harder and better done than the standalone itself right now. DayZero is a good solution to any of you wanting 1st person hardcore. -

RDogg replied to dubghall's topic in General Discussion
There are too many people in this thread taking a 1st person be all, end all approach. I spent a year and a half in a MilSim community, 1st person is no stranger to me. But can we stop with the mindless assumptions you are better? Once again, DayZ wasn't made just to cater to some apparent eliteist ignorant group who can't accept that the game was made to cater to all parties, as are most games. Such a simple concept that people struggle to grasp. Don't like it, well either kidnap Dean Hall and make him meet your BS demands, or go host your own server rather than whining about it here. Let both sides be and let play how they want to play. -

RDogg replied to dubghall's topic in General Discussion
Ok, lets make the game insanely hard, make it really difficult, really realistic, and only appeal to one crowd and lose out on sales and be criticised for not catering to all play styles. Have I made my point clear enough to you yet? You can't have everything your way. Hence why such options as 3rd person are optional. My preference is hard ore. Don't mean to say I can't see all sides of the arguement though. -

To add to that, accessability guys. Like it or not, this game wasn't made just for the 'Ultimate hard core survivalists'. Hence why they make it optional. -

Tomb Raider? That's it? Care to take another look through that list of games again.. Oh, and don't go into the whole master race crap. Last thing we need is another flame war. Back on subject, why even the need to discuss it. Some people like 1st. Some like 3rd. Its not just DayZ, I can think of a load more games in recent times with the same "3rd person is abused arguement. I prefer 1st person hardcore, why I play DayZero more than SA. -

With reference to consoles, and coming from a console background, I feel that comment is lost on me. Are you saying 3rd person is for console gamers? Dude, consoles live and die by 1st person. -
Considering they do run on Standalone, I consider it to not be impossible. Albiet there are less of them on SA. It certainly wouldn't be unplayable, not if you know what your doing. Sneaking about isn't hard.

Good friend of mine just started his own YouTube channel and wants your input on his video (DayZ gameplay)
RDogg replied to Rage VG's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
In terms of commentary, you seem to have that down well enough. With DayZ commentary can be hard due to the down time between events occurring. I leave my Dxtory recording throughout the entire session, and then cut out whatever seems uneventful or whatever doesn't contribute to the build up/finale so to speak. Don't necessarily explain everything that is happening on screen. Think aloud. I naturally speak to myself sometimes, people enjoy hearing your thoughts, gives them an insight as to how you approach a situation, etc.. One great example of this, and quite obviously, is Frankie. I don't particularly like him all that much, but watch some of his older DayZ content, and you'll understand my point. Sometimes what I tend to do is at the start and at intervals explain what is happening, the scenario, the objective, etc.. In voice overs, and then the rest if just raw gameplay, not even commentary, but just people talking, working together. Obviously that way works better with squad/group play. With DayZ, try to aim between 10-20 minutes and upload in parts if need be. When you spawn in, be it recording or not, you always want to set yourself an objective. I've seen DayZ videos where it feels like people are aimlessly traveling around Chernarus with no purpose. Outside of the actual content, social media is a powerful tool in sharing your channel. Facebook and Twitter (Which you already have) are the two biggies. Google+, Tumblr, Steam, and Reddit (Especially Reddit) are also good methods. EDIT: By the way, in terms of names, sometimes there is no right or wrong. DayZ is one of those 'Been there, done that' type things were every video title under the sun is taken up! :P (On a side note, if any of you visit my channel and then wonder why there ain't much there, it's because my upload is horrible! So I have a load of uploads stored away until my internet upgrade in July) -
I reached this point various times. Then I decided to change my play style and enjoy myself. Now both me and my friends will gear up with anything we find, be it a couple of pistols or fully geared with rifles and snipers. And then, we'll go be a thorn in any groups side, basically we'll go looking for a fight. It's an incredibly fun way to play. We don't care about bases or hoarding gear, we just prefer urinating in someones cornflakes so to speak!

how to get people to play on our servers?
RDogg replied to iccy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Word of mouth. Social media is a powerful thing. Stuff like Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.. The more you can be seen the better. A lot of good private hives tend to be connected through social media in some capacity. Keep an eye out around here, people/clans looking for a regular server to play on. Ask around, contact other admins. See if they can help give you a few tips, help with adding cool new stuff, etc.. -
Everything that's wrong with DayZ servers in one picture.
RDogg replied to FrostDMG's topic in General Discussion
It's a disgrace to what this game is about. I'm totally with Frost here. I really couldn't care less if people struggle on normal/hardcore servers. If you have to have stuff given to you, and have things made easier, then it's your fault for buying DayZ. The mod is the same. I personally only play DayZero now. Why? Because it's way better than what the standard mod will ever be, and I'd go as far as saying it's better than standalone. The servers are all run by the developers. It's all vanilla. It's reminiscent of how DayZ was when it first came about. Theres also a lot more reasons why it's better but I'd be going off-subject. I'm all about the experience. 24/7 daytime is cheap, avoiding the best part of the game, and in my perspective admitting that you have not got the cohonies to use a torch, flares, etc.. in the dark because you are afraid to loose your precious gear. The server admins and people who play those servers that set these servers up in that way, are basically being ripped off. They have bought half a game, and that other half is the experience and main element of the game. Surviving. To sum it up. Give me night time, give me 1st person servers, give me less loot, give me more zombies, make them harder. Thats how it should be. -
