A bit ultra-realistic

Post your PC specs, in game settings and FPS here

I feel like you should be getting more XD I get 70-ish in forest -
Thats why I said theres a difference between a Civilian Rifle and a Military-Styled Civilian Rifle. And that whole "We destroy all of our weapons after extreme use so they won't get leaked to the public" is said to make the government put a sock in it. I know several guys that have military rifles that they received while serving.

Can we please stop with the Ultra-Realism? IRL, yes military training can help you be a better marksman. Is it needed? No. I have no military training (yet) and I have hit 300m target while standing with an AR-15. Saying that you need military training to correctly fire a weapon is a bit incorrect and is too realistic for DayZ. Yes we need some realism, but not to the point where it takes away fun from the game.

I meant it in a way such as a CZ550 hunting rifle doesn't have as many moving parts as a Military M4A1 would have. There's a difference between civilian guns and Military-styled civilian guns. EDIT: I updated the OP to include a more clear representation of the items and a few added ideas. Be sure to reread!

Which is something that can be good. It's a fairly well played trade-off. You can use simple civi guns that don't require as much maintenance. OR you can use a military grade rifle and, while having potentially more damage and more versatility, it will require much more maintenance regarding the extra bells and whistles it has. And I think having the weapons in several removable parts will allow us to field strip and clean the weapon. It'll be much better than the current system we have now (ex. Drag cleaning kit over to gun, click Clean Gun, gun has been cleaned. Time elapsed: 3.4 seconds )

I wish people would search for once ;_; But yea, as stated above, we don't have "Undead", just rage-filled human beings. I agree with body armor making headshots priority for military/police/press but kevlar and ballistic plates can only withstand so much...

I have been sitting on this suggestion for quite a while now, and the only reason I suggested it now is because before I thought it was too in depth and ultra realistic. But, I went back and watched one of Dean's livestreams and someone asked him about vehicle components and he stated he wanted it to be very in depth as far as car battery, spark plugs, etc. VERY small items rather than say, the engine as a whole. After hearing that, I thought to myself, if he's going to do it with cars, why not guns?
-
If you would have actually read the idea, I stated that the gun would be as a whole but possibly with damaged parts.
-
I'd rather people comment with serious inquiries, rather than senseless sarcasm.
-
I know, but we need to balance this out so it's not ultra realism. Since Dean has destructable weapon parts. I could see this only necessary. But I think having a multi-tool would be fine for the game. Making this require a whole gun smithing shop, would just introduce ultra-realism. And just for the record, you don't need a whole gun smithing shop to do this. The gas system may require somethign special but the barrel, Upper/Lower receiver, Bolt, etc can all be disassembled and reassembled in the field. I think it's needed because they are systems that can fail and play as a huge turning point for you in the game. Like Dean said before, this game is not for everyone. There need to be MANY hardships in DayZ. At the moment, it is way too easy.

Theres already a map version Dean made with Utes. Just needs to be put in.

The way the current attachment system is, I think the SKS loses accuracy when you add the PU scope. I only say this because I nailed several Z's with iron sights @ 300m only missing twice, but making 8 kills. Adding the PU scope turned my SKS into a grease gun.

2nd person is used in directions, telling you how, when, where, etc to do something. Can't really be used in stories or games.
-
I really don't think so. DayZ is un-optimized as hell

FoV abuse, scatter when snapshoting, on-screen dot and zoom issues
SFRGaming replied to FrostDragon's topic in Suggestions
I liked everythign except for the scatter. You do realize, like in real life, the guns in DayZ don't lose accuracy when you're hip firing? The round from the gun travels within a certain dispersion according to where the barrel is pointing. Realistic and shouldn't be changed. The problem is you want it so it would be like battlefield or CoD. The way they handle it is if you're aiming down sight, your dispersion is 0.05, if you're not aiming down sight, your dispersion is 0.6. You can see the significant difference. DayZ does not need to obtain this. Now, I do agree with significantly more weapon sway (as that's what CoD and BF are trying to simulate) at the hip causing your accuracy to be off. For a visual representation: Here's how DayZ handles round accuracy and dispersion Notice the guy does not have the weapon shouldered but the rounds still follow the angle of the barrel. And here's how CoD and BF handle it. Notice how the player does not have the weapon shouldered but the round still follow the direction the character is looking, causing the rounds to exit at a far greater angle than the barrel. On the FoV point: I think they should make you enter your screen resolution in DayZ whenever you start it up for the first time, and what ever you put as your resolution, it sets your FoV accordingly Ex.(I enter in 1920x1080, the game sets my FoV to 90) As for the zoom: Keep it in for right now, but take the ability out when the binoculars are added. They stated on twitter it has been made, just needed to be config'd. I know I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this but the zoom is a bit OP and non-human. IRL you can focus your eyes but it doesn't allow you to see 100-200m farther. SO, I say keep it in since we have no binoculars. Once they are added, take the player zoom out. Or just take it from hardcore servers :) -
Yes this can be valid, but I think it could have serious drawbacks on the playerbase. Majority if those on this forum disagree with ultra-realism and in my opinion, this falls into that category.

You know you can use the CZ75 mag right? They only named the pistol as the CR75 to avoid copyright predicaments.
-
As long as you have a Class E license (if the gun is fully auto, in which this case it's not) and you aren't waving it around town or firing the gun within city limits, law enforcement won't give a rats ass what you have XD

UTS 15 - PERFECTION GUN for all CQC situation
SFRGaming replied to wild_man's topic in General Discussion
I honestly could see this considering it was designed to be used by police forces. -
The Infected have the same "tolerance" to wounds as a regular human in DayZ. IF they were generic undead zombies, then yea, I'd agree. But, we have normal humans that have a neuro-disease. Nothing makes them stronger or more tolerant to bodily harm, though they may have a higher PAIN tolerance. It's not the stopping power that gives the .22lr its reputation, its the fact that it has JUST enough power to penetrate say, the skull at close ranges. Although, it does NOT have the power to exit. So, what does it do? Imagine someone playing pinball and the game board is your brain cavity...

It was something Dean wanted to add, but he stated he wanted to wait to achieve better performance and some way, form, or fashion of getting there that didn't involve swimming.
-
No, because I doubt there's any firearm projectile manufacturers in Chernarus. If we were in the US, then yes, but other wise, I'd have to say no.
-
Dean had a showcase of Utes and he wanted to add it far off the coast.
