How to locate where people are shooting?
SFRGaming replied to Mukaparska's topic in General Discussion
Granted I have an Astro A40 headset, it's very easy for me to find the general direction someone is shooting from using the surround sound. The sound engine isn't that bad. -
Need a comprehensive gun/ammo guide
SFRGaming replied to zombieland78's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Weapons will usually give a description stating what round size they utilize. Same with ammo showing which guns they can be utilized in. Tip: Don't buy M24 mags, but DMR mags and them split them into 4 M24 mags. Save money that way. -
How is it different? And who told you there are going to be MASSIVE amounts of cars in game. You're posting like you have facts and know exactly how it will be in game when actually, you don't. Vehicles WILL be in game and I can tell you it IS set in stone. Vehicles are a HUGE factor in ANY apocalyptic scenario. It would hurt DayZ if they were taken away.
-
Realism can promote, as well as hurt gameplay. Say the server spawned loot ONCE for the entirety of the time the server exists. It would be similar to an apocalypse because IRL, some magic fairy doesn't go around putting supplies on the ground after the area has been cleaned out. Would it be realistic? Yes, but it would be hyper-realism. NO ONE would EVER play DayZ if loot didn't respawn at all. That's my point with hyper-realism. When it gets to a point that it's SO realistic, that the user's enjoyment suffers greatly, that's where we draw the line.

If you checked the dev's twitter pages, you'd see that many people have talked to them about this. In short Dean said "Currently? It's impossible, but something we will look at after the game is updated with DX11 and more."
-
This would fall in the category of "Hyper-Realism", so..... No

This has been suggested and discussed MANY times before.

I'm beginning to REALLY despise these threads...

Customize our own skins face in DAYZ standalone ?
SFRGaming replied to NINJAHITAM's topic in Suggestions
This was already discussed with Dean in person. he said he would like to add extreme customization options, but not in this way. If this was added, people would put dick pics for their face, guaranteed. -
I would like for things such as tents, canteens, sticks, etc to have the ability to be strapped to the backpack.
-
There's a difference between the gun's accuracy and the shooter's ability to utilize it. And before you disagree, if Billy is holding a gun, the gun's accuracy doesn't increase/decrease when he hands it to Jimmy.
-
implementation* I digress, I feel this is one of those suggestions where it's a bit "over-glorified". I know this is "just a game", but let's face it; can a pillow REALLY silence a gunshot? From my understanding, if I can hear a little kid screaming through a pillow, it probably can't silence a gun shot (which is MUCH louder mind you). They work a little more than you think. The sound the shooter will hear is going to be a LOT louder than what the unlucky chap at the other end of the gun would hear. HOWEVER, this does not justify those 007 games where you could shoot a silenced pistol 10-20ft away from a person and he wouldn't hear you, as that's completely impossible. The shooter is a few inches (as well as behind) where the ammunition is discharged, whereas the enemy is farther away, and in front of the gun. Suppressors serve as a device to muffle the sound of discharged ammunition, as well as a flash hider. The hardware does not do ALL of the work however. The ammunition used is specially made to fly at reduced speeds to eliminate the supersonic crack you would hear if you were fired at.

how would a pistol flashlight decrease the accuracy? XD For the record OP, flares are meant to be held in-hand (safely of course), or placed on the ground, from an IRL perspective.

Zombies are too hard (defending my opinion)
SFRGaming replied to JosephHabib's topic in General Discussion
I agree the horde aspect should be their strong point. But, with how the game engine performs and how it handles multiple people in one small area, I would rather have really strong single zombies now, and then so-so strong zombies that make up a HUGE horde whenever the engine can handle it later. -
The game's current gun sounds are not really that bad. Of course, they could ALL use more base. One thing the gun sounds need is the echo you'd hear after the gun has fired.
-
VERY good. Might I make some suggestions? Footsteps on concrete sounded like you had wet sand constantly on the bottom of your boots. I would add more base sound to it. And the gun sounds are a tad bit over-glorified. Other than that, loved it!

So how soon before the first DLC? And what effect will they have?
SFRGaming replied to rickyriot's topic in General Discussion
They don't receive ALL of that money. Large portions of it go to other companies. -
I'd rather them NOT add the one you saw on Dayztv, as it would suffer from the same problem the first animal models do. It won't be as detailed as the current weapons. Over time, procedures and techniques used to make items will change, and they will revisit older items and give them an updated model, so they don't look out of place. Plus, with the AK-74 uses a round that is not utilized by any guns in-game yet and the only way we will see it implemented is if Torchia can get a batch of guns that utilize that round (all not being AK's mind you).

Experimental brings us hunting, do you want to know what this means?
SFRGaming replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
Did I specifically say the game is not for YOU? No, I said the game is not for every single person. Dean has even said this before. If a person has a problem with the scarcity of an item in game, let them cry about it. If Dean ever makes this game easier for the kiddies, he will lose his fanbase. -
I'm was intending for the standpoint to be upgrading an Intel Duo Core to a 3570k or better. However, once multi-thread support is added, I can see going from an i5-3570k Quad-Core to something of higher tier such as the soon-to-be-available i7-5960X Octo-Core should hold some significant performance boosts.
-
"Oh doodles! The game is so hard and I don;t know if I can cope with the circumstances of an apocalypse. Please Deanie Weanie, can you please, like, maybe make the zombies easy to manage? It will make my life SO much easier." Yea, this game may NOT be for you.

Addressing the Weapon Calibers - Compromises and Proposal
SFRGaming replied to Katana67's topic in Suggestions
Based off of Chris Torchia's tweet replies, I don't think we will see 5.54x39 for a while. When the SVD comes in, I think we will see a new round type (7.62x54R) since there will be more than 1 gun using the round. It's more efficient for them to add the 2 most basic NATO rounds (5.56 and 7.62 NATO) and work from there. Could they have made 7.62x54R along side the 7.62 NATO? of course, but it would have been inefficient for workflow. I'd rather them have some guns with slight errors in which rounds they utilize and then fix it when it's appropriate. As I said before, we will probably see them add the 7.62x54R when the SVD is added. If it's not fixed after that, then surely it will be fixed IF they add the PKP. I'm currently wondering if we will see weapons like the L85A2, which utilize the 5.56 NATO. And maybe a Mk16 as well. I also wouldn't count on seeing .338 for a long time. If it's even added, it will be after they start controlling how many certain "high-tier" items spawn through x number of servers. After that, we will start seeing high-powered rifles being added. -
Addressing the Weapon Calibers - Compromises and Proposal
SFRGaming replied to Katana67's topic in Suggestions
100% support this BUT Even if the devs take heed to this thread, 7.62x51 will still be in majority of the rifles. It's one of the most universal (if not THE most universal) rounds and is used in MANY different models of weaponry. -
I wish people would start reading devblogs, and overall, have a LOT more patience.
