No crosshair and can't aim with iron sights anymore
guidez replied to Tensdale's topic in New Player Discussion
Well I never... http://chzmemebase.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/internet-memes-like-a-chan.jpg It's a forum, made for discussions. Sometimes, threads veer off from the OP's main reason for the topic. This is life. -
www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HJnDYABaCE Cheers! This one should help with the bag understanding as well: www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcSIs1Q9Tz0 --

Also, some servers will tell you the approximate distance a player is from you when you place your crosshairs on them. I have yet to see nightvision OR Rangefinders. Rangefinders would be awesome.

The debug monitor will be eventually going away. Sure, the numerical values are great, but it's called debug for a reason. You really shouldn't need to eat or drink anyways until you are blinking: It's a waste otherwise. I do think we should retain the numerical values for blood though: If I have 94 blood or 2400 blood, it would make the difference for me in risking to get meat or blood packs for myself.

The CZ doesn't, but the DMR does. If you have a map, you can judge the approximate meters from where you are to another spot by zooming into the map. The grids at close range on the map stand for 100m increments. Additionally, some servers allow you to place a waypoint on your map, which will then appear on your HUD. The waypoint on your map shows the approximate distance to that waypoint.

Explained in the video: No, you cannot place tents in a building.

Crosshairs are kind of a gray area. On the one hand, they are unrealistic. The problem with realism and a video game is that since your are not PHYSICALLY there, it is very, VERY hard to find your true center. -
Poof! Now there are videos on explaining the inventory system and basic gear pickup/dropping. http://www.youtube.com/user/dayzguidez Cheers.

Could be peeps with decent enough computers and upload/download speed. Seen plenty of non-US people with 6x better bandwidth then me.

If you have been looking through "barracks all over the place", then you have been looking in the wrong spot. The only two high level military spawns are the two barracks in the NW airfield. http://dayzdb.com/map

b501 I love you

Here you go bro, pulled from TeamSpeak forums: Windows 7 Users: Right click on the speaker icon in the system tray, click Playback Devices. Then, click the Communications tab. Adjust the options accordingly. In particular, change the "When Windows detects communications activity:" option to "Do Nothing".

I don't know about that... Rolling update 1.7.1.1 log notes: * [FIXED] Converting magazines didn't work if you had MORE than one of that magazine type (now works as intended)

The heartbeat is not the best indicator of a bandit or not. It's there to add more suspense. I'd kill the guy and take his stuff. Don't trust anyone you don't already know when you have supplies.

I was in a similar situation, and could not find morphine for the life of me. I magically found a tent, killed myself, ran to the tent, and retrieved my stuff. Unless you get lucky, your chances of finding a morphine, though possible, are extremely rare outside of a hospital. Make a friends somewhere, and have him run out to you.

Sure, you can run some cards on a cheap ol' PSU, but as soon as you start pulling power through your computer, overclocking your CPU, using the DVD drive, playing a game/graphics card, your PSU will begin to stress out. Eventually, it will ca'put. Save a PSU's life. Get extra Watts. One sec Sneaky, I'll pull one up for you. Here you go. Note the rebate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341017

That was the next one I would be doing, and yes, the DayzGuidez channel is mine. I too hope to have just a repository of quick help videos that I will simply supply to newbs when they ask the same old question. Thanks for the support! I think there are a few more channels out there already, and lot's of "Beginners" guide videos, but they are all way too long and boring. I am making short, concise, right to the point videos. And if you have any other suggestions or "How To" requests, let me know!

How to pitch a tent, visuals are always best! Thanks for the few pointers, Cik. Cheers!

http://images10.newegg.com/BizIntell/tool/psucalc/index.html Power Supply Calculator. I use it with every computer I build.

I have the 550 Ti, and it's just dandy. I have my settings all around normal, but that's mostly because I play in Window mode. I play BF3 with a bit higher then normal settings with the card as well. From what I've read, ARMA 2 is more CPU dependent compared to other games. I have an i7 with 16GB of RAM ( I edit HD videos, after effects, premiere ), and still notice stuttering once in a while, especially with some patches of DayZ and servers that don't restart often enough.

Other then it being alpha and realizing that everything is not perfect yet, I would say that you need to think of your shooting sound making a very large circle. If you shoot a zed, say, STRAIGHT ahead of you, and there are is a zed slightly behind him to the left, you might not attract the zed farther behind him. Why? Because the other zombie JUST fell out of the sound range for your gun. Also, this depends on the gun you are shooting. If you shoot a Lee Enfield from Balota, you'll probably attract Zeds from the NW airfield. I am exaggerating, but the loudness of the guns differ, even if they sound the same loudness to you. You can see gun audio levels here: http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Weapon_Comparison_Table

Not a problem!

Here you go guys, visual is always better. Both questions answered. Cheers!
