I too believe it is simply the most south-western spawn. Just keep the ocean to your right, and head along the coast to Kamenka.

Definitely check out the GuideZ channel if you're gonna just start into DayZ. And to save yourself a bit of cash, maybe you should try the "ARMA Free + Bought CO" option? Save a bit of cash (unless there is a sale right now, might be), then if you really like it, you can buy the full version for the added textures and what not.

If you really really want to, play in full screen mode and turn your Gamma and Brightness up. You will see well, though in a detail-loss sorta way. For Window mode users, turn your brightness up (gamma does nothing), and tilt the top of your monitor towards you. The rest is left up to the amount of moon light. Next, forget Cherno. Find northern towns with shops, staying at the fringes for a minute or two. If you see no other flares/flashlights, head in, turning on/off your flashlight every once in a while to check around for zombies and building entrances. Zeds seem to be kinda attracted to the lights, but their visibility is so low it's a non-issue. If you HAVE to go to Cherno at night, just join a server that doesn't have too many people on it. I don't know if there is any MORE or BETTER loot at night by coding, but I can say for sure that there are less people generally and thus more loot 'cause no one else takes it.

It used to be harder when the zombies followed you across the map and logging in took forever: You were less willing to disconnect, so you were forced to take out zombies that you couldn't lose.

I make it a practice now to take down any wire fences I find.

And what I mean by "not so sure about full release" is that I am wondering if DayZ will finish with a full release BEFORE ARMA 3 comes out, which would probably require us all to upgrade.

Oh, sorry, only read the first parts, ;) 1. Yes, Beta will eventually come (assuming that version "2.0" of DayZ will be Beta). Not so sure about the "full release", since Bohemia is thinking about a standalone release of DayZ, which leads to... 2. I don't think we have much info on a standalone version of DayZ with a storyline and such. I almost imagine that the multiplayer aspect would always remain sandbox mode with no story, but if a standalone and thus single player version did come out, there would HAVE to be a story of some sort.

The GPS will show you six coordinates, like so: 012987 Split the numbers down the middle, like so: 012 987 These are your coordinates. When you look at the map, you will notice along the top and and left side of the map are numbers. When you are zoomed out, you will only see two numbers on top and two numbers on the sides. These numbers correspond to the FIRST two numbers in each pair of your coordinate. For example, while zoomed out, your location on the map would be: 01 98 When zoomed in, the numbers at the top and left change to 3 number series, which correspond exactly to your 012,987 Kinda confusing, I know. Once I find a GPS, I will make a video on it.

1. DayZ is in Alpha. ARMA 2 is a fully functioning and completed game series with missions, DLC's, etc. DayZ is simply a mod. 2. DayZ is whatever you make it to be. Your goal could be to survive alone in the wilderness, or get a group and put together a car. Think sandbox. 3. I think April'ish? Though Rocket has been thinking about it for years now. 4. New models and such can be appended.

Not entirely true: the guidez channel has been most informative to a ton of people.

Your "alive" time is based off of your actual playtime, not the "days" a server goes through. Also, nighttime is the best time: less players, zombies are mellow, and there is gear around every corner.
