It's simply a bug, but also don't get attached to your gear. You can see in my Quick Start Cherno guide how fast it is to get gear (if you are lucky), but otherwise you WILL die at some point, so get used to losing gear.

Well, quite honestly, I could probably build something in that range as well, but would have to cheap out on the motherboard, psu, and dvd drive.

Sometimes it's hard to tell if someone is really dead or not. Best indicator is flies buzzing, but that is almost constant in Stary Sobor. He probably just didn't notice that you were not dead. And note: You got greedy, and now you know what happens when you get greedy. :D

Did you pull those specs from a certain site? Poking around some UK sites now that build comps.

What is your budget and what parts do you already have? Like, do you already have a case, psu, Windows license, etc, or do you want to build it from the ground up?

I have not died once while making my guides, except once purposefully for the "Understanding Blood" guide. Not because I am some professional though: I have just been really really lucky. If you keep a cool head, you can get around zombies with no problems. Players are your bigger worry, as they are the smart ones (well, mostly ;) ). That Cherno run was a lucky run, but I bet you I could make a similar run again and survive just as dandy, GIVEN there are no other players out to get me. Surviving up north is the fun bit: Up north, I tend to be as quiet as possible. Since medical supplies are not infinite, I don't want to use all my morphines and bandages in one go, like some people tend to do. Tents are only specific to the server they are created on, so your goal should be to find a server that you like and always use it (I am on TX4 all the time). As for storing items, you can use vehicles and tents, though I have read there are too many glitches with tents to make them worthwhile right now, and things can get stolen. The biggest note is to not get attached to your gear. You will die, you will lose it, or a character wipe might come someday (we are in alpha after all).

Don't see the point of "waiting": Better stuff is ALWAYS coming out. Just get it now. And could you find a more expensive PSU? 1. See #3 2. There is a heartbeat sound when you are close to the player, but it is not a good indicator, because it can be random 3. I remember reading in a patch note that if someone shot you or at you, the system would let you shoot back/kill them without it tallying as a murder. Don't know if that is still in place though.
