Beta? Make sure you get beta version of ARMA 2. Download it from: http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php/ THEN: By Legacy (mod): Legacy Global Forum Moderator The beta patch doesn't load DayZ? Strange. Here is what I did: • Backed up the original Arma2OA.exe and renamed it Legit Old Arma2OA.exe • Went into Expansion/Beta and copied Arma2OA.exe and dragged it into the OA Folder • Set my launch options to a custom fit. Code: -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash -mod=@dayz -maxmem=8192 -world=empty -cpuCount=4 • Ran OA as Combined Operations. This makes the beta patch and DayZ work for me, but you need to manually update the Arma2OA.exe every time there is a new beta patch.

That right there is a bad idea. I have lost plenty of items with that method. Simply make sure that you have enough space in your bag (10 slots + slots for ammo), and move your gun into your bag. Moving it onto the floor is 50/50 chance to lose it.

Definitely what Cyanyde said, take note of your location in the lower-right hand side when you just start the game. Once you find that name on the map, you can generally find out where you are by contour lines and road curves. I'll have a "How to Find Where You Are" guide on the GuideZ channel today or tomorrow.

Thanks ice!

How to determine what version is needed, and what you got?

1. This still is a problem, but I think most players play with decent grass settings, at least I do. Definitely adds fun to the game. 2. PVP is a problem everywhere, but it is somewhat harder on Hardcore because you don't have Third Person view to magically see above walls/into rooms/etc

Crowbars are the only other melee weapon besides hatchet. Only certain vehicles can be repaired, and the ones that can don't look blown up and are enter-able (via mouse wheel) even if they need to be repaired. Super chancy, I think some weapons might fit, but 10 slot is recommended. Only helicopters, there are no jets.

Are you sure you are pressing the Enter key on your NUMPAD, NOT the one above your shift key?

If I was told correctly, going to a server which requires the Beta patch will make Six Launcher download the Beta. Read the changelogs of the Beta pacthes to get an idea of what comes out in each on. There are performance tweaks, items not dropping in water tweaks, etc etc

Hello friends. Is DayZ worth it? (+ add. q's)

You can get ARMA 2 free and then buy CO, saving some money. -
Can... Can... Can I come over your house to play on your PC when your not using it... :'(

There is a whole series of videos on inventory and bag management on the DayZ GuideZ channel as well.

Track IR looks freaking sweet.

Time to switch to a better server. Try out TX4. The server is re-started every 4 hours, and I never have trouble with any gear there. Check out the Quick Start Cherno guide on the GuideZ channel to see what I mean.
-
You always have to be lucky to find gear. Otherwise, welcome to Day Z!
-
Yeah, I found that out the hard way as well!
-
Supermarket's are the best, almost always 2-3 there. Watch the Quick Start guides on the GuideZ channel if you aren't sure what store's look like.
-
Shoot zombies, and check their bodies even if they don't have an instant pick up option. They carry food and soda.
-
Maybe wait till the next patch? I think it might fix everyone's position (maybe). Go get some sun in the meanwhile.
-
All your profile does for DayZ is keep track of your current in-game name, controls, and other audio/video/game settings. Like chrispow said, it has nothing to do with your persistent DayZ character, other then the name people see you as when in game. Otherwise all your gear, location, etc is stored on a central server.

Watch the Quick Start Cherno guide on the GuideZ channel. It's technically for more advanced players who know the ways of the zeds, but still can get a few pointers from it.

After many requests, here is the "How to Repair a Vehicle, ATV" guide! Cheers! Good ending.
