I'm going to throw out something crazy, give me feedback
KingDavid73 replied to Techercizer's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like the infection idea and the slow zombies... but maybe as just another zombie type. Keep the current types and add in the slow ones. -
As a new player, This mod is so difficult its un-playable.
KingDavid73 replied to HamHamm's topic in New Player Discussion
if we aren't starting with a pistol anymore, there should be loot spawns much closer to the player spawns. I hate sneaking around for like a half hour just to get to a building and find nothing -
What should I upgrade on my PC to get DayZ working good?
KingDavid73 replied to henamshox's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
it would probably be cheaper to get a new computer at this point. Getting more ram, new cpu (probably new motherboard to fit the cpu), and new gpu, (and maybe a new case to fit all this stuff)... you're basically going to have to get a new pc anyway. all that stuff is ancient. -
I think there should be a melee. It would be a last resort... like the knife in the old resident evil games. The zombies in dayz attack quickly and hit hard, if you were fighting at melee range, you'd go down really quickly, but if you were out of ammo, it would be better than nothing.

I have occasional problems with DayZ as well. In Arma2, on everything maxed out, I usually get around 40 - 50 fps, in dayz, that's usually around 30 - 40. But sometimes, it'll seem to max out around 5 - 10 fps. even if I set all the settings to the lowest possible, it's still like 9fps. I looked around and apparently this is a problem that some people have. It seems that sometimes dying either makes it start or fixes it. Changing servers can also fix it. It used to happen almost all of the time for me, but it hasn't happened in almost a week now, so that's good.

lol' date=' yeah. I never actually kill people directly (that's mean), but I like messing around. I'm not sure if that actually makes me a bandit, but I guess it's not really being helpful either. lol. [/quote'] What you did was more insane than having to do with any banditry. There should be a third faction with a separate forum and call them Maniacs or The Insane or something like that lol. lol, yeah. The zombie hoard could cause insanity in some people. I play that character... a lot. When you don't have good loot, then your life doesn't seem too important, and the game is a lot more fun imo. -

After dying to a glitch or some grumpy murderer, sometimes I don't feel like starting over right away... but I still want to play the game. Sometimes after this happens, I'll just run full sprint down the road, sometimes firing off my gun, to attract as many zombies as possible. Then, I run into a town and run around until I see someone. I usually die, but it's like a suicide bombing, only, instead of explosives, I bring a zombie hoard. I did this once and had like over 30 zombies behind me. What other fun things do you guys do after losing a character / feel like messing around?

You know DayZ is something special when...

lol. My friends are interested, but, unlike me, are unwilling to drop $30 on a mod. I'm sure Arma II is great and everything, but I don't see myself playing it any time soon. -

I guess you also know it's something special when your average life is like 10 minutes (many times because of a glitch), you get the annoying bug where you get less than 10fps over half the time, joining a game sometimes takes forever, and when you finally find a server that works well and get lucky enough to have a decent framerate... some random guy shoots you in the head... when despite all of that, you still keep coming back and enjoy the crap out of every second :P -

oh snap, things just got real. lol. I still have a working Xbox hooked up (modded, with media center installed). Although, I have like 15 game consoles hooked up. I'm glad I could put some old parts to use. My computer is running somewhat hotter, but I haven't had it lock up in a couple days... even under some high activity situations. The pump on my liquid cooling system must have been going out for a while, because my computer would randomly bsod fairly often. I'd monitor the temps, and they were always fine, but it doesn't even take a minute for the cpu to overheat if my pump would stutter. -
yesterday I was on top of some building, and I dropped like 2 feet onto the walkway below. I never 'landed'. I just stood there like I was falling, and slid down like 50 feet all the way down to the end of the walkway and fell off. The fall made me pass out, and I died from a zombie eating me.

Over the weekend, the pump on my liquid cooling system went out... After trying to get it up and working again for a few hours, I said 'screw it', went into my garage, found my old, broken original Xbox, took the heat sink off, and popped it on my pc's cpu. I took the fans from the liquid cooling system and have them sitting on the heat sink (I had to put my computer down horizontally to make this work)... all so I could get back to playing DayZ. I'm happy to say that, while my computer is running a little hotter than normal, it's still within the heat limits and I can safely play this incredible game. also, I think my old forum account was deleted? I still have my old activation email, but when I tried to login, it said there was no account linked to that email :/
