Statistics on where people get ganked?
A Man Named GOB replied to A Man Named GOB's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Based on my experience, if you get ganked over and over, you are doing it wrong. I want to know if I am correct. I head through Cherno and Elektro on almost every new life and I survive most of the time. -
I would actually rather have this as a starting weapon than a makarov.

Statistics on where people get ganked?

Agreed, instead of endless conjecture, I want to know in a quantitative way where all the PVP occurs. -
Statistics on where people get ganked?

If that is true, is PVP really a problem? Populated areas are going to be dangerous. People should intuitively understand this... -
I want a recreation of my trusty 10/22 in game. plus fucking 1.

If thats true, it will prolly be patched.

Crows fly in the general area of bandits
A Man Named GOB replied to Pomegranate's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If were choosing to play as a bandit. I would this mechanism to lure vigilantes. It would be easy to use this to gank and grief angry and unwary players. -
A radical approach to encourage co-op/deter PvP

http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=5564 "- LOWER/RAISE PRIMARY (does not work with pistols): DT LCTRL or RCTRL + R" It is the players responsibility to point or not point a gun at someone. Right now that only works with the primary weapon. I would be all for adding a similar function for pistols. But regardless, it is your responsibility to seem less threatening. -
Wow my gear is sick!...but what now ?

Crows fly in the general area of bandits
A Man Named GOB replied to Pomegranate's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The game should not be punishing bandits. That is for players to do. It is a harsh world out... in... there. If you want to reduce banditry, create incentives that encourage people to work together. Punishing someone for playing in a style the game allows seems very artificial. -
An elegant solution is to give the friendly people a starting weapon?

Remove humanity system(I m a survivor). Bandit/survivor concept "kills" the game
A Man Named GOB replied to mikyjax's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree, its a sandbox. We decide what to make with the tools available in it. I am all for risk associated with killing other people like sound or other things that haven't been thought of but I don't really want to be told by the game that I am good or bad. -
I dont think I would want to be forced to save in front of a house whether its in a city or a town or all alone on the side of the road. I DC prone under a tree as often as I possibly can. I am all for preventing random DCing but I feel this kind of gets into the territory of telling a player how to play.
-
I dont find suppressed weapons often but I would be all for limiting their spawn rates. I dont want them removed though.
-
I agree with the teamwork and as for the other points with the servers, I think people are more and more thinking of this game as an MMO.
-
It does not matter what you do in one life, when players respawn, they should either all have pistols or none of them. It is still a reward system for good behavior.

I can rely on Mumble forever! ;p

Oh I agree that it is an interesting idea and pretty cool in some ways. I also agree that this game by its very nature very well might have the ability to go places other games never have. Rocket has stated that it is art more than a game and I can see that point of view. Let me ask you this though. You are hypothetically banned from playing with friends and you meet a total stranger and group up. You play together for a couple of hours and then you die. What happens then? You should never be able to strengthen the bond you made with that person during that life because all communication ceases?
-
If you end up starting with a pistol after a few lives cause you didnt kill someone, you are still punishing bad behavior. Its like a dog. Your dog doesnt get a treat unless he does something good. If he does then you give him a treat. When he does something bad you dont give him a treat, you are taking it away. It is a punishment. To my mind, it doesnt matter that you can get weapons fast or not. This would be the first push down a slope of punishing actions that people take. If he takes the pistol away, it needs to be across the board with no way of ever spawning with one.

If one or two of us were shot and killed and then banned from a server, we would leave the chopper behind and head to the new server. Fixing that chopper would have been MUCH harder if we werent a team. You can always fix another chopper ;p And yes I agree, it would be interesting to incorporate a mechanic that encourages interaction. I do not want to be forced to though. I play solo quite often and if looting my own body is what you guys are worried about, then by all means make it impossible to loot your own corpse. Btw, Im not trying to shit on the idea like its bad, I disagree with it but it is still an interesting concept. Games like The Witcher 2 have single life characters but playing that way is an option. If its an option that some servers can set then knock yourselves out. I don't see how this would increase the number of players on a given server. Also, I don't see why you couldn't start a character on another server.
-
This idea is still a punishment for being a bandit.
-
It would be interesting to see some statistics on players who are actually able to loot their own bodies and also how many people are actually driving around in vehicles. If they wanted to implement a mechanic where you are unable to loot your own body, that would be fine by me. But I can state without a shadow of a doubt that me and the group of guys I play with would loot a friends corpse, and all log off to find another server with them. I enjoy this game solo but it is infinitely more enjoyable when playing with a few friends and this mechanic seems aimed squarely at team play. Keep in mind that while this game is supposed to be realistic and brutal, the game already gives into gameplay mechanics over realism when it needs to. The morphine being an easy example.
