Character Location tied to individual servers

Im sorry that I do not feel the same way as the other posters. This feels way too much like a global punishment to prevent the actions of a fraction of the population. I also feel like some of these server specific suggestions are from people that view this as an MMO. The game may have some elements but most definitely the servers are not. Most of these servers have a 50 man cap. Imagine that two thousand people are linked to it. I am going to be forced to wait in line for possibly hours or start on the coast on a different server? I would also be allowed to keep all my weapons? I don't understand why taking away someones location but allowing them to keep their weapons would work. Wouldn't this just increase the amount of freshly spawned players getting ganked by high level equipment?

I would like to be able to spawn with friends.

It does take time, I agree with that. I think we defer on the period of time it takes. Regardless, to me that just makes life more precious. It prevents you from running around like a deathsquad and not caring if you die. Grouping up should make you feel similar to when you find an M107. You don't want to die because the consequences are greater.

A new 'status' to encourage cooperation

I don't think that going through a period of acclimation to being alone is a debuff. If you feel strange for a while, then begin to feel more normal and eventually become better at dealing with certain things because you've been alone for a long time wouldn't be a debuff. If for example, you are more likely to panic for a while and then gradually become less likely to panic than someone who groups up wouldn't be a debuff.

I would like to be able to spawn with friends.

Not the suggestion, I may not agree with it but I try not to just rag on someones idea. What I meant by BS is the suggestion that someone who finds navigation less than impossible has to be a longtime veteran of Arma2. I also play with friends btw.

A radical approach to encourage co-op/deter PvP

My point with this is that it would make people so paranoid of getting sniped while investigating that they very well may not bother to do it once it happens. If you get sniped while pulling weapons, ammo and food off a corpse, you will still do the same thing next time because of the loot. If all you learn about is someones time of death and how they died, it might not be checked very often. Also, I dont think this is something that a bandit would struggle to use efficiently. Another tactic for bandits to use ' date=' and if he can manage to pull that off , he deserves that kill with the loot. Thanks for the suggestion , I'v added it in

I would like to be able to spawn with friends.

I am sorry but that is complete BS. I bought Arma2 specifically to play Dayz. I did not know the map but I did take the time to learn it. I will say that the first several hours are extremely frustrating and finding friends is hard at first. The game has a purposely STEEP learning curve. Once you get past that and become competent at navigating the map, it is really quite rewarding.

Wouldnt this kind of increase the time you spend crouched over a body? Wouldnt this be an awesome trap for bandits to use?

    Just a couple of suggestions

    Secondeded.

I would like to be able to spawn with friends.

It shouldnt take 2 hours to find friends. 20 minutes at the most. The game is brutal in every facet. Why should it make this aspect easier?

A new 'status' to encourage cooperation

All I will say is this. Half of the threads in this sub-forum are about PVP. I personally dont really feel like its a problem because I dont run around the big cities standing up and sprinting. It seems to me that the Devs want to encourage interaction and also limit immediate Shoot on sight. Most likely to do this, they will have to introduce something that is more of a mechanic that a true to life element. Including some almost universal psychological effects might just be the way to nudge people in that direction.

    many players are quitting

I love the title of this post. Because some guy and his friends are frustrated, that means that many players are quitting the game. It is not for everyone. Just the fact that you can post your ideas in this suggestion forum and the Devs read it is reason enough to stay. For fucks sake, everyone who participates in here has the ability to help shape the game. That is fucking awesome.

    Pay per Life, take life.

I dont think this game is about PVP, its just designed so that the primary threat is the people. I love that it is ambiguous.

    No way Jose.

A new 'status' to encourage cooperation

I agree with pretty much everything you said and I too have had encounters that left my heart racing and adrenaline in my system. I am just saying that even people that claim to be lone-wolves in real life still have human contact. You and I are communicating right now. If all of this was cut off from you and you found yourself in the woods, that would probably affect you. I don't like the idea of pills or constant medication but I wouldn't be adverse to my character requiring a period of time to adapt to their situation. I think this would fit into some kind of subtle skill system like being "hardened" or whatever. I also think that having some kind of ambiguous memento from the "real world" could be a convenient way of helping keep panic in check.
  15. When you run then stop to fire, the game already makes you less accurate while you are breathing hard. The only way to be extremely accurate in the game is to stand still or go prone... I dont think we need any more game mechanics that affect accuracy. Also weapon damage feels pretty good to me. If anything getting shot even once in a non critical place should affect your ability to return fire. I guarantee that even being shot by a 22lr would fuck you up.

Speaking of heartbeats, Infected should have heartattacks. That is how they should deaggro.

A new 'status' to encourage cooperation

While I dont really want to be told how to play to be effective in the game, if we are really talking about real life. I think it would be a stretch to say that people would react well to being thrown into a situation like the one presented in Dayz. You are alone, people are dying everywhere, you are starving, you have no contact with other people. There is no safety and even other people usually decrease your safety level. You are cut off from your family and many other things. The game already tells you that your character is panicking after certain encounters. Do you think that should be removed as well?

A new 'status' to encourage cooperation

I had made a suggest before the forums were wiped that involved the concept of every player having their wallet on them. They would also have a picture of their family or some memento that they could access with their context menu that would help keep them from freaking out. Doesnt have to be something the player actually sees but an action they could take to keep their brains focused.
  19. This is like the opposite of autoaim. I want my bullets to go where I place them. If I miss because I miscalculated bullet drop or didnt take my time to aim, I want it to be on me. I dont want the game to randomly decide where my bullets will hit.

A new 'status' to encourage cooperation

For lonewolves, as they spend less time with other people, they could begin to mutter to themselves periodically, something that they would be unable to control and something that players they encounter would notice. As time progresses, it would gradually get worse and then recede as they get used to being on their own. As an aside, wouldnt medication be something like a permanent punishment for a chosen playstyle? If there was a natural cycle that people go through when they spend alot of time alone, that they eventually adapt to, wouldnt that be a more true to life way of handing it?
  21. A Man Named GOB

    Humanity decreasing until you die

Stop trying to force people into playing the way you envision the game should be played. I dont think I would mysteriously lose the ability to communicate and eventually die because I was a bandit IRL.
  22. I would love to know where all this PVP is going on. I play quite often and can go days without seeing another person. I have a strong suspicion that most of the people who get killed all the time by bandits are either in or around big, populated areas with no cover. I would expect that the database/servers either do track or can track this. New players die alot, that is mostly because they dont understand the dangers of Cherno and Elektro. If I spawn and head to one of those two cities, I half expect to get ganked. I search lootable areas quickly and then heard north. I would love to see a map that shows the concentration of these murders. It would help show us and the devs whether this really is a problem or just people who are new to the game or making bad decisions getting themselves killed.
  23. A Man Named GOB

Statistics on where people get ganked?

That is just bad luck and I am sure everyone who has played for a while has a story similar to it.

    Alternative Response to Banditry

Doesnt this fall into the category of the game punishing people for their play style?
