Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update
ultimateburger replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I think my biggest problem with the game now is items disappearing when moving stuff around in your inventory. When I accidentally try to move an item to my full backpack, it will vanish...maybe just have it dropped on the ground, or just not allow me to move the item? Everything else seems pretty good. -
Horrible performance in cherno/electro
ultimateburger replied to Fryseboks's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Being in cities will tax your system a lot more than in the woods/small towns. It's just the way it is. Make sure you have shadows set to at least high (anything lower puts their processing burden on your CPU). Also, try defragging your hard drive. Disable Hyperthreading on your CPU in your PC's bios. -
[PSA] 1.7.2.2 is out, changelog in thread!
ultimateburger replied to a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Neat. Glad to hear they dialled back the zombie aggro distance by about 20%. -
What is needed to venture to Stary and NWAF?
ultimateburger replied to idunc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
All you need is a little luck...whether it's Stary Sobor or the NW Airfield, just get in and get out quickly. Your gear is fine. All it takes is one sniper, and it'll ruin your day. B) -
Antibiotics and sickness bug!
ultimateburger replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
They never spawn IN the boxes. The stuff IN the boxes never changes. They spawn in the loot piles in hospitals, and can be found lying on the floor. Their spawn rate is pretty low, so it could easily take multiple hospital raids before you find them. -
Errr...zombies spawn near loot locations, so you have to sneak by them to find stuff. Crawling if pretty much the only way to sneak around zombies. You're right, you don't get this game.
-
You're a wuss. Start raiding hospitals until you come across antibiotics. I got them on my 3rd try. If you do the raids in Berezino, you can hit up the supermarket at the same time, and then you stand the chance of getting some good gear out of it too. Don't respawn like a wuss.
-
Yes. Agreed. You can spend 45 minutes crawling around, or just hope you can lose/kill the horde you wind up with. Me and my group have been opting for the latter lately.
-
There are many things you can do to improve performance. I had a pretty comprehensive list of them, but then the forums ate my detailed post. Here's a few ideas to get you started: Turn shadows to High or above…this puts their dependency on your GPU instead of CPU. Defrag your hard drive. Turn off post-processing. Disable hyper-threading in your CPU (may need to go into BIOS to do this).

Slower movement when laying prone
ultimateburger replied to The Touch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This is a concession every FPS with prone has made for the sake of playability. -
1.7.2 Opinion thread. All your opinions, good and bad, go here.
ultimateburger replied to Denuth's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just a couple comments…everything seems pretty good except for zombie aggro and zombie respawn. I don't mind the new aggro distances TOO much, but I think it should be dialled back a little when you're crouch running/walking. Currently it can just take WAY too long to skirt along the edge of a town. Again, it's not really contributing to the fun of the game, just the frustration. I am fine with having to crawl mostly in towns, though. Also, the zombies seem to respawn a little too quickly. That is all, great job in general. -
The only thing I would adjust is dialling down the zombie aggro a little when crouched. Having to crawl at all times through a town isn't really fun...it's just time-consuming. When standing, yeah, zombie aggro is fine. I think moving in the crouched position should be a touch more "invisible" to the zombies. Not like it used to be, but not as useless as it is now either. Other than that, things are great!

Some feature ideas requesting feedback
ultimateburger replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I suppose it's a fair enough tradeoff. If people really don't want to give their location away, they just won't place this equipment. -
Some feature ideas requesting feedback
ultimateburger replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeah, didn't think of this. The player spawning in would have an immediate advantage, knowing that others are nearby. -
Some feature ideas requesting feedback
ultimateburger replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeah, these ideas are cool, although they will be of very limited use for most players. Also, potential "exploit" situations would need to be addressed (i.e. once a player lights a new fire, the old one goes out). In addition, if I had logged out on the outskirts of a town, but now that location is jammed, and I select to log in at the edge of the radius, is there potential that I could be spawned directly IN a town? This would be undesirable. I would say that these are good ideas with merit, but they should be implemented down the road, after more pertinent bugs are squashed, such as the zombie aggro.
