but the most important pistol is missing. The ruger mk2 is in no way as cool, useful, or setting correct as the makarov. In no way does it replace it.
-
lol, I think we both know that implementation of new guns and respawn improvements are two different departments. But yeah, both! AK is pretty sweet, and was my favorite assault rifle from the mod, keen as mustard for it, but yeah p38< makarov, can't fault them for new weaponry in the end though.
-
Can't say it wouldn't be nice if they sped up production on the mak though! It's such a dayz gun.
-
No thankyou. Makarov master race. INFACT, WHY HAVEN'T THEY ADDED THE MAKAROV?!

What do you think full modding support will do to DayZ
Capo replied to Jex's topic in General Discussion
I think in the end, it's safe to say that people aren't scared of mods, so much as the huge amount of admins who are happy to strip the game down into a run and gun powertrip. TBH I think it would be better if Dean just accepted that he's not making a game for everyone, lock it down and say "this is my game, if you don't like it, play arma 3 breaking point". If people weren't interested in Dean's game in the first place, they really shouldn't have bought the game, and they really shouldn't be influencing where the game goes. -

So does that mean that private servers will have the ability to change the number of vehicles on the map? Because I think that's what people mean - I don't want to have the server list flooded with 1000 vehicles, spawn with weapon servers (or even increased weapon spawnrate, fuck off) private or public, I just don't want to be forced into playing those servers. "Don't play on those servers", only works when public or vanilla style private servers are available, and in my and many other peoples areas that simply wasn't a choice after a while, at least in the mod. I'm curious to see what happens, worst case scenario we end up with loads of scripts and some idiot importing arma 2 vehicles, and shitty admins adding extra barracks everywhere, creating an easy game in order to keep their server constantly populated (which is not the case for every admin, but it still happens). Best case scenario we end up with modders actually adding to the game and building upon the framework as a whole rather than focusing on one area, such as mindless PvP. But even though this happened with a few big reworks of the mod, admins still perverted them. All that being said, modded servers being in a different server list is a great idea. I don't think you've taken into consideration that it's likely that we will be forced to use the survival aspects, unless the team decides to just not finish their game. Meat will likely be the best source of health, and I wouldn't be surprised if the devs lowered the food spawns once respawning loot and hunting is implemented. Waterborne diseases - surely going to a well or a lake would be unavoidable at some point. Temperature, unless they half ass it, surely is going to play a role. Sure, nobody is going to stop you from going to elektro and hunting freshies, but anyone who wants to play more than 30 minute lives is going to have to engage with at least some of the survival aspects. What about hoarding gear? or creating barricades in order to protect that gear? Cars? The devs seem to be planning an in depth system to get cars running and keeping them running. This is all good stuff, and is definitely survival oriented, nobody is going to be forced to use any of those awesome things, but why wouldn't you? -
Well that was a stupid thing to say.

Should we all start off with a pistol in Dayz Standalone?
Capo replied to Jossell's topic in General Discussion
No gun on start. It's not necessary. The actual vanilla mod doesn't spawn you with a gun at all, it used to, but they decided it was bad. -
Set a minimum shadow setting, or at least some other workaround. low end PC or not, it's an unfair advantage. People who are going "why do shadows matter". Well they provide camouflage, so they're pretty important when you don't want to be seen. The difference between a flouro survivor and one in the shade is pretty stark once you compare them.

I bet there's a nice fat portion of people who don't like grinding, who gear up on empty servers. If you don't want gearing up to feel like a grind don't just go to an empty server, basically playing the game without the risk of getting shot at, and therefore without the fun.
-
I would be nice if it wasn't literally hours though, I only have so long to play. The fact that people gear up on empty servers, then come to a full popped coast irritates me.
-
what's wrong with that? If there are empty servers the devs can reduce them to cater to demand.
-
food is not too hard to find.
-
No thankyou OP. Was the most irritating shite in the mod, maybe give you stats when you die, but none of this kill counter crap. It gives away too much information, eg whether your kill was a clanmember, and whether your kill is actually killed. Takes away a lot of the immersion and therefore fun.
-
Anyone actually enjoying the game more at the mo?

I love it atm, I haven't needed to regear though so that might be an issue. I'm totally rocking the IRA look though. -
This thread makes me really angry, obviously we are going to get more guns, your concerns are unfounded.
-
Well it sounds to me like you're making gearing up a grind. You should try playing on full servers and loot inland. That way, there's always a possibility of someone being nearby, but you can still find loot. Of course you're gonna get frustrated when you make gearing up a tedious "hold down W" fest then run around fully geared looking for people to play with. A fully geared player is a pinata to everyone else. You can find police stations all over the map now, so really there's no reason to play on empty servers (of course maybe some peoples computers can't handle it). Gun spawns are not an issue, and lone wolf is meant to be freaky as hell, it's Dayz, and stress is your friend, embrace it. Playing with a higher risk of player contact also gives you more opportunity to use your gear as you find it aswell.

Why would safes be anti KOS? Safe does not belong in dayz, as a noun, or adjective. I'm very much looking forward to persistent backpacks, because how safe your stash is will be dependent on how well you hide it, not an arbitrary "It's safe because it is". Not only that, it's impossible to put a rifle into a backpack at the moment, so it's not like people will get fully geared off their backpacks, you'll be able to store a fireaxe, pistol and everything else, but you won't have the kicker. Which is cool.

Now that looting towns is so "risky" due to the Zed threat..

We are in the early stages of development. -
lol, here's a better idea, if you need more space, use the existing mountain or hunters backpack. I'm sorry your imagination knows no bounds, but I'm gonna have to come in and point out that if you fuck around with the pros and cons to using specific backpacks, you'll end up with everyone wanting the same thing - an improvised backpack, which makes no sense. It's improvised, and you're an average joe, so it seems unlikely that you'd be able to craft a sturdy backpack equal in size to say, the mountain backpack, because ducttape and sticks is not the same as factory stitching and goretex. There's nothing wrong with using your imagination, just remember to throw some logic in there every so often, otherwise you can end up with ideas that don't add anything to the game. Also I've found idea's are better received when they aren't just a 1 line of vagueness asking for more of something. Justify your own argument, explain why something is worth the effort for the developers, what does it add to the game?
-
I'm not sure if you're serious, once you add sticks to the improv backpack, you do have 20 slots........ also it's too easy at the moment even with 20 slots, so no, i'd rather not have improvised backpacks with more slots.
-
nice video. As to the suggestion of spawning with weapons, fuck no thankyou.
-
Tease. but tbh the text indicators are fine as far as I'm concerned, all they need to do is fix that bug. Sounds could be an interesting way of communicating status changes, farting if you ate rotten fruit etc. I'm happy to see where the devs take it, or don't take it.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
Capo replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
I haven't seen a single hacker in my 150 hours in game. That being said, the amount of people who are posting evidence of hacks is pretty large, so maybe battleye could be a bit more proactive and start dredging for the websites selling these hacks, and then update battleye to ban those hacks specifically. Maybe it doesn't work that way, but it should, I mean if getting hacks is as simple as googling it, then shouldn't targeting these wankers be just as easy? -
get the fuck out of the cities
