Looking back, Do you think that EA release was a good idea?
Capo replied to c00lface's topic in General Discussion
So many whiny potatoes in this thread, on the forums and just surrounding Dayz in general. Many, many people asked for SA early access, Dean the rest of the dev team was pretty clear that it wasn't finished. The game is definitely playable, or neither you or I would be playing it. Zombies running through walls might be immersion breaking but it doesn't destroy the game. Cars not being available might be a hassle but they don't make the game, and it doesn't stop you from fucking running. The pace of development is not set to a dial, they can't turn up development speed to 11, new elements go in when they're ready, otherwise we end up with a game that is actually broken. -
I find one whenever I want one, even when miltents were broken, one trip to NWAF and a root around the hangers usually churned out at least a worn LRS.
-
I would love for a PKM to be added to Dayz. Once cars come in they could be attachable, mg touting ute anyone? The PKM uses the same ammo as the mosin, so keeping those ammo types down. At the moment I think the mosin uses .308 win simply for simplicity. Once they add in another example of a .308 win rifle and another example of a 7.62x54mmr the two ammos can diverge. Hopefully keeping the mosin firing 7.62 nato is not a planned feature.

I don't think the devs moved the spawns to lessen pvp. Rather to see what people do when elektro isn't a possible spawn - probably in regards to people suiciding for better spawns, and elektro being a mecca of sorts for lazy people.

gews you beautiful bastard! look what you did! :D -
FUCKING. FACIAL. BANDANNAS!
-
how is zombies walking through walls really that significant? They're a bit of a hassle in a barracks, but aside from that, just man the fuck up.
-
hhahahahaha go fuck yourselves elektro noobs!

Lone wolves would get fucked by this idea, while clan players would feel nothing more than a minor irritation. Isn't the entire point of this thread to stop clans hoarding gear and then playing "the most dangerous game, dayz safari!". At the moment, the idea of hiding gear from players who just died only really hurts the people who don't play in clans.
-
Not always true, but it can't be helped that the majority of suggestions are badly thought out, poorly explained shite.
-
:( shame about the forum community then. A whole bunch of circle jerk arguments could be stopped.
-
better question, do the dev's ever look at these forums, they never comment.
-
It will be pointless to create an invisible on death, most clan members would just make care packages for each other. Then when they die, they go and pick up the gear their buddy left them. Secondly, if every item is going to be persistent, everything the player ever interacted with and put down will be linked to the player, and then have to hide itself from them once they die, and what about if you die a second time? is it going to also continue hiding that gear while hiding the gear you interacted with in the life you just had? It couldn't work like that, you'd eventually end up hiding half the gear in existence. I honestly can't see what's wrong with persistent storage as it was in the mod, why would you bother making a stash if you can't access it when you need it, and let's be frank, you really only need a stash when you need to regear. It means players will want to, and have to, sink time into creating a stash, which will inevitably get robbed (nearly every location did), blown up, or naturally depleted off it's own accord, which in turn leads to more hoarding. What's wrong with that? It's a great excuse to go out and explore the map, maybe find other players, get swarmed by zombies - use the gear you're hoarding as you're hoarding it. Now, Dayz is about one life, and people are saying it's like a second chance, and people won't take their character seriously if they can just regear. Not true, running to the tent (or in the mod, going to pick up the guy who just died) is a pain in the ass, not only that, if you don't take your character very seriously you die a lot, if you keep dying with all your gear, you end up with zero. It's not going to change anything.
-
The tents in the mod were fine, it allowed you to have a sense of permanency but never safety, if someone found your camp they'd probably take all the best gear and then run over whatever's left. They were great, yes you could regear out of your tent, but then you had to spend the time putting the stuff in there in the first place, not to mention that you can only regear out of your tent so many times before you need to find more gear anyway. It's something to do, and is in fact quite fun, trying to find a safe place to put a tent, having to constantly explore in search of gear to stockpile, the moment of fear when you find someone else's camp (maybe they're still around?!) etc. They were great, and also it will encourage people to get off the fucking east coast. Epoch took the whole thing too far with the safes - nothing in Dayz should ever be 100% safe, that is adverse to why we're playing. Dayz is playing for pink slips, not bragging rights.

Dean Hall encourages server hopping at egx rezzed
Capo replied to sobieski12's topic in General Discussion
I don't think you understand or really have the capability to explore how a public hive and public hive loot database could work, or really what Dean was talking about. Brush up on your English listening skills, go back and watch the fucking video (because as you said, you haven't, so you're only source of info has been this cancerous thread), and then listen to what he actually said, and then try not to misinterpret it into an endorsement for server hopping (which can be defined as swapping servers while remaining in the same general area looking for loot) Different clans are going to be active on different servers - right?! Maybe one of the clans on a different server has a working helicopter - still with me?! Maybe your group needs a specific part to get your helicopter working - MAKING SENSE!? Hence you would go to the other clans server in order to steal their helicopter part - DUH!!!! Which could obviously be an interesting way for the public hive to work, I mean if your game has an in-built public hive, why not do something interesting with it? They're also implementing a serverwide loot database, which is going to mean that not every server is going to have all the loot. So intel, communication with other groups and people across the public hive to different servers - a whole bunch of things would become viable through this, surely that's pretty cool. Finally, everyone needs to stop taking everything Dean says as gospel truth, because he's as enthusiastic about the game as any of us, and as a developer has the luxury of playing around with ideas that seem cool at the time, and exploring how and if they could work, that's all it is, he's having a discussion. In this particular case, he was simply explaining an example of how the public hive could work with the dynamic look system if everything they were talking about got implemented. If you're so backwards that you can't handle the idea of a game spanning more than just the server it's limited to - just wait for private hives, it's not a genius solution your problem, it's just fucking obvious. -
They didn't say, "no new ammo types" they said they want to cut down on ammunition types and not have exotic calibers, ie rounds that only work in a small range of unrealistic weapons. I also would like the bison or skorpion , but I'd rather they chamber them in 9x18, as that will make the round more useful than just the makarov pistol. 9x19 works in a plethora of different guns, so there's a whole bunch of smgs such as the beretta m12, tec-9, mp5 (of course), mp40 - there are so many, I hope they don't waste the opportunity to make the weapon variety interesting by sticking to <10 different calibers. That would be a failing on the dev's part.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Capo replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Are they really that bad? I haven't had a single issue of zombies aggroing from 100 meters away, or getting swarmed by them. I honestly have no idea what people are on about when they complain. yes the zombies are gonna get better, but they're still too easy atm. -
I still don't understand the point of the PU, you gotta change your FOV in order to make it properly useful for 200+ meter shots, then you're handicapped in cqb. They need to add being able to look down the ironsights while having the PU attached, which is a feature of the PU - which is fucking great if it'd be implemented.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Capo replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
stop shooting them? I haven't had any trouble with extreme zombies with the fireaxe, although I'm also not gearing in an area where there are obviously going to large amounts of zeds, like elektro. -
stats would be waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy better than a killcam thanks.

One of the most iconic guns in the mod, and my personal favorite pistol (the SD was the shit when it could still take regular mak mags). Haven't seen a bar of info on it, no previews, no animations, not even people asking for it. It's probably one of the most common pistols in eastern europe, so it makes sense that it's added, and at least in my mind, should come before the p38. So I figured I'd be the first to ask- Is the makarov planned? When can we expect it? Is the art dept going to add both the Makarov PM and the PB? The PM is more common but the PB also has a detachable silencer. So both would be good, the PM a civ variant with the PB and silencer spawning separately in military locations. so yeah, how bout it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Makarov_pistol http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PB_pisto

bizon- chambered in 9x18 makarov!!! or the skorpion - chambered in 9x18 makarov!!! if it has to be 9x19 para - mp5 is a very easy guess or cz skorpion evo III would be fun aswell hopefully not the ppsh - too ww2 and we have plenty of old guns aks-74u is a carbine rather than an smg.
-
hmmmm, cheers man, oh well, hopefully they don't consider 9x18 too exotic, otherwise dare I say it - mods.
-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Škorpion_vz._61 czech smg also chambered in 9x18, although not a common chambering for that smg, I don't really think it's stretching reality too far, and would open up the round to more than one weapon. well it sounds to me like they need to add in a new ammo type. as much as I like and appreciate the walther, and while there are some glaring similarities, you can't replace apples with pears, and I sincerely hope that that's not the plan. while we're all here, does anyone have a source for the limited ammo types theory?
-
D: that's terrible news. Hopefully that's all it is; speculation. At the moment we have 4 different pistol calibers, surely 5 isn't going to break the bank. Also if they play around with loot spawns, what's the harm, more is less if you do it right, surely if they want people to always have low ammunition, spawning more incompatible ammo types is the go. Bit pissed off they added the ruger if that's the case, .22 ammo is common and all well and good, but fuck sake, doesn't take precedence over the mak. A makarov that fires the 9x19mm would be a bit retarded. what about the baikal? It's a civilian gas cartridge pistol rebored to fire 9mm ammo, sadly the article is unclear on whether it's 9x19 or 9x18 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/moslive/article-1106804/The-usual-suspect-How-Baikal-Britains-favourite-killing-machine.html#ixzz2YDGUELlV also that might be specific to the UK, if you live in eastern europe surely it's easier to just get the real thing.
