In my mind the only issue with Dayz at the moment is that everything is placeholder. It would be much better if the zombies were harder to kill, faster and more numerous in towns, cities and airfields. Not only that, but loot needs to go down (and become non existent on empty servers), disease needs to come in and weather needs to become more random and to take affect on the player. From what I can tell, zombies in their finished form, should work as an environmental factor that encourages communicating and teaming up with other players, if zombies are hard enough to be a significant challenge to a solo player, then the dev team has fucking aced zombies. I'm hoping that they get the ball rolling sooner rather than later. Gibz, I don't think the game would be improved by removing zombies, but you've been going on about mods since SA was released, so I'm sure when mods come out, some bright young spark will create a mod that removes the zombies, if you're lucky and server admins don't ruin it, you'll have your ideal survival game right there. Bullshit. Complete and utter bullshit. The way to stop players from deathmatching at whatever flavorofthemonth city constantly, would be to create accountability for players' actions, meaning - if you fire your weapon in a city, town, airport, or their surrounding areas, it brings a fuckton of zombies with it. Very simple, and if the consequences are severe enough, very effective. Currently the environment is impotent, and other players are the only real threat, what we want to see in the end is the players being a threat that is on par with the environment. Sadly I really don't think the game should have been released with so few survival mechanics intact, it's pulling a bad crowd (along with the good), creating poor habits, and forming shitty expectations of what the game should be.

RO2 (great game) and being trapped in an ATC was what inspired the suggestion. The way scopes are done in RO2 is superb, 3D scopes all the way.

Don't be mean lol. Yeah OP with the new spawns my knowledge of unlooted areas has gone out the window, but as someone said before, I'd imagine staroye to be completely untouched. Failing that, staroye isn't too far from novy and stary, and they have police stations, piano houses, arch houses etc galore. also I should point out that rifles now spawn in the red/greeen double story buildings with the white doors. Found an SKS or two in those, very useful as even on looted towns people ignore those houses. As a hero, you only need some basic gear for yourself, some useful stuff like can openers, food, drink, a sack+rope to give freshspawns, and some balls to fight bandits with. You don't need full milgear, a secondary weapon, ballistic helmet and gasmask, and if anything those items identify you as a bandit rather than a hero. Not that appearance really makes a difference to the end result.

Q: How to Snipe people successfully from about 700-800 meters?
Capo replied to blazed's topic in General Discussion
Yeah the lack of bullet impact is really irritating, I now can't adjust my shots, hopefully that's a bug and will be fixed. Anyway, at 800m, it's going to be very hard to land a shot on a moving target. So Rule 1 - Don't fire unless your target is standing still, running directly towards/away from you, or in rough terrain. Your first shot is the most important, it's the shot the target doesn't know is coming, make it count. Rule 2 - On still targets aim for the base of the neck to prevent shooting over, while you should still catch their legs if you're under. Go to Dayzdb and check the ranges there to make sure you're zeroed correctly in the first place, and trust your zeroing. Rule 3 - Know your equipment, if your LRS is damaged or badly damaged, at 800 meters the shot is going to noticeably pull to the left. Rule 4 - Choose your position well, you want to have a designated kill zone where you expect your targets to be at their most vulnerable - eg looting, drinking, opening a door, going up stairs/ladder. As well as that you want to have a good view of the surrounding area so you can spot targets and predict their movements, prepare yourself, and let the adrenaline burn through you like a dodgy curry. So that's basically all I can give you at the moment, I'm keen for windage to become a factor as that'd going to be awesome. All in all sniping can be pretty hit or miss.....and mostly it comes down to waiting for the best time to take the first shot. -
DayZ Community is what is REALLY destroying the game
Capo replied to EraChanZ's topic in General Discussion
No, the problem started the moment you joined an empty server to loot. I can't wait for them to implement lower pop servers spawning less loot. Loot is easy to find on full servers, get a map and look for towns slightly inland and voila. The issue is that Dayz is a survival game, that currently doesn't have many survival features. So it's being played as a PvP game, which is tedious and frustrating, and generally creating a bad attitude among it's community. Provided the dev's force the survival mechanics to come into play - I'm happy. Hunting and cooking needs to provide the best food, sicknesses need to kill you, weather/clothing needs to affect your character solidly, loot spawning needs to occur in underpopulated areas of the map, while overpopulated areas should be barren, and empty servers likewise. In the end, I would suggest hardcore servers for OP. -
if you're bored, this patch isn't going to fix anything. Come back when more features are added, survival becomes a thing and the deathmatch crowd has fucked off.

Realised I miss one of the mosted hated "feature"

For the reasons OP stated, sidechat was good, and tactically interesting. But the cons definitely outweigh the pros, I didn't like seeing the flame wars, whinging, "anyone in cherno?", "GET SOME SKILL DMR" etc on a loop, it was a tedious blue wall of shite. Walkies would be better if they made them text aswell as voice based, and silent if held in the hands of the player. Using walkies as a replacement for sidechat means you have to maintain your character to communicate with other people on the server, not just have telepathy off the boat. Which is pretty cool, that being said they should be far more common, a couple in every police station, police cars, military buildings etc, and maybe we'll get more people using them. -
you aren't counting the "just right" votes?

Stop joining random empty servers because you're too fucking lazy to look for loot, it's as bad as server hopping and now you're getting shat on for it, too fucking bad. All the potatoes who go "BUT I CAN'T FIND LOOT ON FULL SERVERS" - it's because you have the problem solving skills of a recently lobotomized prawn, try looting places that aren't entirely as obvious as "the big city I just spawned in and everybody goes to". Also, join the same server, I get a 30 second timer if I disconnect and immediately reconnect to the same server. Try finding some popular ones that are well maintained, and adding them to favorites, or just remembering what server you're joining. The spawn timer really only has issues if you're changing server, so start making a list of regulars and keep using them.
-
The system needs to be fixed, but stop joining empty servers, because they're empty for a reason. You cunts are as bad as server hoppers.
-
I'm all for the LRS being removed from the mosin, and added to the blaze. Once the PU scope correctly zooms to 3.4x of course. That being said, it is imperative that the zeroing is extended for the PU if that happens. 300 meters isn't enough.

Protest against the new update for night/day being added
Capo replied to JosephHabib's topic in Suggestions
They need to make it so night is playable, after a while it's pitch black. however, frankly there's a large portion of players that just need to man the fuck up. So many people start bitching about it being too dark the moment the sun goes down, which is shite. -
hunting backpack > mountain backpack improvised courier bag > all

Those guys sucked, they didn't even close the door. On another note, keen for the hipfiring crosshair to be removed, that and the addition of two zoom levels on ironsights. ATM irons< hipfiring.
-
probably not, but it will give people an incentive to go inland.

if they don't reply they're too sus to continue living next to you.

could have been a glitch, but a similar thing happened to me yesterday, and it turned out that we got shot through the small west window, so if you could give some more context that'd be great. Shooting through walls is mostly fixed, as my group kept two glitchers in the top glitch room of the NE Eastern jail for about an hour, the only gun that could poke through the wall far enough to shoot inside was a mosin. that video is from february, it's not so bad now as far as far as I can tell.

Stop dying, there are no spawns near balota atm, so......what are you doing? idiot. Also solnich is fine, small inland towns quite close that are almost always unlooted, anyone who disagrees is a potato. I propose repeatedly respawning in the same spot if you die within 10 minutes of spawning in. If your spawn is getting camped, you can change server.
-
Pretty confident that's a mistake or a joke. Devs were clear on the "no as50" thing. MP5K? yay sounds good! I got the impression that it wasn't going to be an mp5 for some reason, but you can't go wrong with adding an mp5 so fuck yeah.
-
I asked about this a while back, don't think it got seen. Fucking with you though, it's a pain in the ass, especially with sks/magnum, as you have to unload the stripper clip and then reload the loose ammo.
-
Once survival and storing gear becomes more of a factor it's going to be very interesting. Also once it affects gun performance - yay! It definitely doesn't really affect chances of getting shot, but frankly I prefer the idea that shooting people doesn't give you a reward.

There is no lack of information regarding the updates, just a lack of will to seek out said information. Anyone who takes Dean's date predictions as fact is always gonna be in for disappointment. If the update hasn't come out yet it's because it's not working as intended, and hopefully because of the delay they will be able to push more content into the upcoming update, but that is purely speculation and should in no way be taken as fact.

Can Nothing be done about MetaGaming in Dayz?
Capo replied to yorkmorgan's topic in General Discussion
If they increase the range and availability they'd be useful for lone wolf survivors looking for people in their area. Sort of replacing sidechat, ie "anyobody in NWAF?". hopefully that's how it works. -
Looking back, Do you think that EA release was a good idea?
