  1. it takes a while to get used to, but once you get a handle on the mechanics and start to understand what to do, it's well worth it. also i would suggest using a pistol and headshots to kill zombies, enfield isn't so much the notorious dinnerbell it once was, but it still makes you a zombie magnet, it's quite accurate at longer distances and does alot of damage, so definitely keep it ready for other players if you feel threatened.
  2. i like this idea. I get the feeling i just wouldn't see 3/4 of any text indicators unless they're a constant, in which case they'd be worse than a UI. something to think on.

    this. anyone who thinks otherwise can stick it up their ass. The game's still in alpha and people already want to turn it into easymode, no thanks. nothing wrong with the mods, or with the addons (actually no, fuck 3/4 of the addons), but dayz is the game we've been waiting for, not epoch. If you like epoch more than the SA, keep playing epoch. simple as that.

    it's a good point, but then i reckon most of the mods for the mod ended up ruining it. i'm hoping that SA will be solid enough for me to ditch the mod, but if SA's not right i'll be back, i guess. It's impossible to say until SA is out.

    tents are a bit weird at the moment, my group set up a tent and it always refills with our original gear on server restart, and deletes any gear we put in since then on restart. kind of game breaking. also you can beat someone to death with them, i broke my friends leg and knocked him down to 4k health on accident when i swung around.

    this would be pretty great, a sort of EA create a face thing would be sweet. I always create myself as close as possible with these kind of customization options, consider yourself beaned good sir.

    Self Blood Bags

    it's almost impossible to find a server without self bloodbag at the moment, at least in my neck of the woods. utter pain in the ass. playing without means most of the time you're never on full health, making everything more of a worry, and it's great. it's pretty frustrating how to even get a playerbase as a new australian server, you have to include extra barracks/buildings, 500+ vehicles, self bloodbag and a gun. I know modding is a great thing, but looking at how it's been detrimental at least to my game as a whole, i find it hard to justify. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/149928-dayz-mod-1803-hotfix/page-3?hl=+self%20+blood as said here, they're going to add it in at some point, but it looks like they're going to make it difficult, so hopefully that could be a solution. it's pretty mentality destroying with it as a mod, but if the devs change the way bloodbags work, hopefully it wouldn't be such an easy procedure.

    well....i'm talking about someone forcing you into a situation for 7 hours, because that's what would happen (exaggeration, but still). All you did was see "alt-f4" and then saw red. I was merely trying to explain that a lynching mechanic encourages scenarios where people would want to combat log, because what is the point of being someones human plaything for an extended amount of time in a literal sense. That is entirely the problem. yes, you spent 3 hours getting hunted by a sniper, and didn't log. good on you, i would have done the same, because that's an experience. the two situations are not comparable, one is combat, the other is as a torture victim. The combat experience is as authentic as possible, the lynching mechanic is not, there are no emotional triggers with the lynching suggestion as is, and there would need to be. if you make death a likely outcome of becoming a prisoner, then you're defeating the purpose of restraints anyway, because why would anyone surrender when what comes next is unpleasant not to your character, but to you, and for little gain. do you not think people would be wankers with a mechanic like this? without there's no real reason to take a prisoner you plan to kill, with lynching it's encouraged, and then you have people treating you like shit and then killing you on a regular basis. but wait, raw experience guys. also, if i restrain you, take your weapons, and then break your leg. you haven't got the option of fighting or running, so stop saying you'd do that. Man, i don't care what you've said before, i'm looking at what you're saying now, in this thread, and it's wrong.

    it's just not effective in doing anything other than encouraging bad behavior from both parties, either kos or extended wank sessions with bandits, and effective alt f4/starting a new character on another server. i guess the other guy can just be humiliated when he gets captured in game if he wants.

    running isn't an option when someone breaks your leg. I'd personally rather someone lie to me and then just end it unexpectedly but quickly, and don't get me wrong, i probably wouldn't enjoy it. But it's better than have some wanker get off on making me wait around while he sets up some extravagant waste of time, there's not much in it for me. you're an idiot lol, did you even read the entire post? did you even read the part you're quoting? i'm willing to forfeit a character rather than have someone waste my time with inevitable death. I'm not talking about giving up because i can't be bothered to try and survive, obviously. i'm talking about not giving some shithead the satisfaction of taking all my escape options away and then abusing an underthought mechanic. Do you understand that hanging is a suggested mechanic and i'm pointing out a specific issue with the suggestion? or is your murder boner so hard that it's diverting blood from your brain? we aren't playing gears of war, or the last of us, i don't even understand how your point is relevant there, they aren't comparable. so i'm just gonna put that down to stupidity, because it wasn't fully explained, and therefore pretty ridiculous for me to try and rebut a point that wasn't made. When you're running for 30 minutes, you are doing something. You're going somewhere, for a reason, no fucking shit. So yes, it can be boring, it can be tense, it can be interesting and stressful but it's entirely necessary, and that's good. How is waiting for 30 minutes for some 12 year old kid to just fucking get it over with necessary in a survival or prisoner context? Without a hanging mechanic you're waiting to see what happens, because you might actually survive, slim chance or not. with it? just fucking forget about it, you're dead, and whoever is playing gallows gets to take as long as they like with it - not necessary, not productive, not interesting, not even tedious. POINTLESS, and i won't deal, i doubt most people would, not because of a weakness, but because you are now spending an indeterminate amount of time waiting for some random to let you play the game again. honestly, suggestions are fine, but what is the point of putting them in the forum if they aren't up for discussion from different perspectives? "OH NO, HE POINTED OUT A PROBLEM, LET'S MISREAD AND PRETEND THE PROBLEM'S NOT REAL RARARARAR".

    lolwut. maybe at first, but then it would just be tedious. also no, i don't think many people would enjoy or forgive someone making them sit still and watch themselves get dicked over for an indeterminate amount of time. If it was gonna work there would have to be an incentive to not hang someone, or a variable that could be exploited by the victim and possibly put them in the upper hand. This is a game and while it might be fun for the person doing the hanging it'd just be frustrating and anti-fun for the person whose on the receiving end. I don't know why you'd want to add such an exploitable opportunity for bullying in a game. Yes, i know, we don't want happy playtime, but neither do we want or need the possibility to torture someone just for the heck of it, and we all know that if you give people that power, it will be abused, and probably en masse once the ball gets rolling. you can already fuck with people enough, there's no reason to make it more fun to troll people. completely not in the spirit of what the devs seem to be trying to achieve in the standalone. also if i might add, it's quite pointless, at least in this form. If i know someones going to hang me, i'm going to alt-f4, forfeiting my character anyway, because fuck that, i'm not going to enable someones silly sick fantasy at my own expense, i've got better things to do.

    that's kind of cool, and doesn't involve someone having to sit at their keyboard for 20 minutes just to be executed. You could argue that it'd be really horrifying to have to watch yourself get led to the slaughter, and you'd be right in a sense, but remember that it's a game and the raw emotion of an ex checkout chick trying to hang someone would be extremely difficult to capture. So in the end it'd be a boring wait while someone fucks with you. No thanks.

    No KoS. Little bit too far, we all know pvp is your thing but adding an extravagant execution system isn't doing anything for the game, and is a tiny bit weird if i'm honest. if you wanna get vicious on a guy, you could just catch someone, handcuff, take some beans or something they won't mind losing, and then shoot them in the back of the head after you've told them you're going to let them go.
  18. i'm not sure whether i like it or not. it's impossible to get a good vantage point on a city or town without having some kind of zombie spawn near you, giving away your position. But for that same reason it's not so bad, i haven't had someone try to snipe me at stary since 1.8 came out.

    OP needs to grow up a bit himself. The majority of people who play games are underage, so it would make sense if a large amount of the playerbase was younger. Nothing wrong with the younger players......mostly, my only issue with most of the younger guys is that all they care about is pvp, and that obsession has been overindulged on most servers. btw what i've played of epoch is pure pvp shite, so that's going to account for the maturity of the people you play with. I don't know why admins try and run epoch with safezones and such, it must be a nightmare to police.

    are you still able to beat someone to death with your tent? a friend and I were setting up a tent the other day, and while positioning it I turned to face him. next moment the screams start and I've gotta bandage and bloodbag my friend, as he's knocked out, bleeding and at 4k health lol.

  23. my favorite set up is an sa-58p, with a CZ -550 in the bag, with an m1911 and a hatchet for zombies. i prefer the AK's for their extra power over the m16 variants and their sights work fine for me, CZ because it's ammo is now a more common find and i know how to use it comfortably. + roleplay i guess.

OP knows shit all. who in their right mind wants to remove KoS entirely? dayz loses it's entire vibe without it. what i want, and what it seems most people want, is a reduction in KoS in early game, because early game is when you're most likely to be friendly, and when you're most likely to not actually have anything of value. once i'm geared then stay out of my crosshairs, because i'm trying to survive. also, does it not stand to reason that if you shoot at someone, they might shoot back? even if everyone survives theres a possibility that your gear might be damaged/destroyed. If you really want to protect your gear you'd avoid engaging at all if possible. the devs are trying to achieve a reduction in KoS through not rewarding players for shooting everyone they see, not try and wipe it out as a playstyle, and that's what so many people are just not understanding. tl;dr OP makes assumptions based off themselves, gameplay mechanics they haven't tried, and the mod, which doesn't look like it's going to be the same game, and as a result may be conducive to different playstyles than KoS, we just don't know. in short, fuck you OP, you don't know what you're talking about and you've used your ignorance to make a 9+ page wank thread.
