hmmmmm i hadn't thought of that, i'll have to go find a bayonet. i've gotta pristine lrs with bipod and still some of my shots will pull slightly to the left. also whose doing target practice on zombies? set up a snipers nest with approx ranges on likely target buildings, wait for server hoppers. Nothing feels better than dropping a hopper. although you'll likely only get one or two shots before they prone and log off, so make sure your ranges are right and try and place your shots slightly left of center mass just to be sure.

i'd fill every container i find with piss. we also should be able to fill containers with disinfectant spray.

because an open door is just not enough.

private hives are bad, please remove them. they ruined the mod, yes they kept it alive, but only through leeching all the life from the actual game, and while i understand that the actual game was very limited in the survival aspects towards the end of it's life, i'm pretty confident that the SA will at least attempt to fully deliver a survival+pvp experience, rather than the "1000 vehicles, spawn with dmr" dogshit you guys want. That's the game they're making, if you don't like it, you bought the wrong game. too bad. you, that is a good idea. they should spread spawns all over the map. it'd be confusing for a new player though lol.
-
people need to fuck off with the running simulator bullshit. if you're running, you're alive, welcome to the game asshats, you all deserve to spawn at kamyshovo.
-
the problem is that people are so stupid and keen to exploit weaknesses in a system, that the route most often taken are the most obvious areas sans loot, and then server hop until they're the most obvious areas with loot. need to fix server hopping, and i haven't had to use the new spawn system yet, but it sounds to me like people need to get the fuck over the coast, spawning at sol is great, you run to polana, up through gorka and then the entire map is at your feet, i literally PRAY for an east coast spawn. and i know, "rarrar geared players mowing down newspawns", but i wonder how many people get shot and then take the exact same route after spawning, only to get shot by the exact same sniper for the exact same mistake. frankly if you're going to hang around the coast you're going to die pretty quickly anyway, might as well get it over with, or go inland.

maybe, it's certainly usable, you can also use the map's scale if you know your location as it gets quite detailed the more you zoom in, so you can find the distance to multiple killzones when making a snipers nest. i was one of the people who used the cz almost religiously, it was just a different rangefinding formula (use the sidestripes and width of waist) and it worked perfectly for me, i was a little sad that SA's long range scope didn't utilize that system as i'd learnt it in anticipation for the SA lol, but that was just silly me, now i'm off to learn mildots. so upset, i ignored the m24 completely. i hope they put some higher end scopes in the game, with mildots and other rangefinding systems, max like 2 more kinds and super rare so that it doesn't become too easy. edit - great tutorial btw, those mosins will be getting a lot more deadly

lol ozelot is being silly, the .22 is neither exotic nor harmless. although lol - my dad went to shoot a bull when i was younger, he accidentally took a .22, and he ended up giving the bull a bald patch between the eyes, as the bullets wouldn't penetrate the skull. that being said, i really see no reason why the .22 shouldn't be added. it's a very common round, and while it shouldn't be given special attention, i don't think it should be ignored. Especially on the basis of it not being cool enough, that's just dumb. SA needs more weapons in general, and a focus should be on civilian weapons, with very rare military weapons. In fact, military weapons are so obvious they aren't cool, or amazing. Every fps gives you the opportunity to use military weapons, not many give you the opportunity or the need to use a wide variety of civilian weapons. SA sold so many units i would really think the devs have the freedom to make the interesting game they'd planned, rather than a cashgrab with zombies, the game is estimated to have a year until beta, meaning they aren't desperate for sales at all. .22 -1 ozelot - 0

Why does everyone I run into kill me?
Capo replied to capt. beefsteak's topic in New Player Discussion
avoid other players, sadly there isn't much to do besides shoot people and find more gear, and once you've got enough gear, there isn't much to do besides shoot people. first thing you're doing wrong though - don't just stand in the open and wave at a stranger with a gun, what is wrong with you? you need to take cover and use your mic. If you don't have a mic, get one. second thing - don't trust strangers - at all. someone who says friendly and then continues to look at you or try and follow you is obviously not friendly. third thing - get used to getting shot at. believe it or not, most people are in this game to use their guns, pretending you're in happy playland is only going to make things more frustrating for you. If you don't wanna KOS, fucking good on you, but don't expect other people to use the same standards, in fact, expect people to use lower standards and stop putting yourself in a position of vulnerability. Everyone is potentially hostile. it would be good if the game indicated how long you've stayed alive somehow, i really liked that about the mod. Because it reminded me how much time i'd spent on my char. -
they're obviously going to add in something to prevent combat logging, i really think people are going on about it too much. It's such an obvious issue it just seems utterly retarded to have 20 threads about it.
-
too many dumb people in this thread. If you want all of someones gear undamaged, you're going to have to hold them up, simple as that. I know at the moment combat logging is way too prevalent, but obviously that's the problem, not item degradation. Shooting someone is it's own reward, and if you choose to shoot someone for their gear then you took the easy solution, and as a result will have less gear. Less risk = less reward.

Kill on sight... my group is doing it now
Capo replied to Nariquo (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
errrrrr no. combat logging is bad mmmmmk? so is coast camping, but that's a legitimate, if shitty, way to play the game. Combat logging is something we want to prevent, coast camping is just frowned upon - see the difference? when you combat log you're going outside of the sandbox for personal gain, basically cheating. so ya, no one has to combat log or server hop, and if all goes to plan no one will be able to, because the sandbox needs to have boundaries. -
loot spawns at server restart, look for houses away from the main road, and yes get off the coast. i found a mosin in a house last night when all the houses along the road had been thoroughly looted. don't go for such obvious towns and cities if you're in desperate need, go somewhere that people wouldn't have gone. This is not really something that needs fixing, i enjoy it tbh, a slight respawn for gear over time would be nice, but in general it feels great knowing people have been here before me. Also just stay away from balota, obviously it's the first thing that's going to be emptied and then it will be camped by well geared players with nothing else to do.
-
the pvp by well geared players around the coast is a result of boredom, alot of them probably server hopped their gear and now they have nothing to do. My suggestion would be to stay the hell away from balota, it's a mess. but really, there isn't much else to do once you're geared at the moment. People need to get over the fact that they're getting shot at, in a game where 1/2 the players carry guns, and the other 1/2 make great targets. i've had some nice interaction with players, and i've seen videos of people being kidnapped, and my group plans to kidnap people for blood once we all finally meet up, so you know, what kind of player interaction do people want? We're trying to survive.

Hive System - People are already server hopping
Capo replied to mercules's topic in General Discussion
fuck there are so many annoying people who haven't listened properly. It's 30 seconds and then it adds up (i would suggest it compounds, rather than adding 30 seconds each time, it should go -30 seconds - 1 minute - 2 minutes - 4 minutes etc), NOT just a 30 second wait. Which would mean that yes, you can swap servers once or twice or three times, and then it becomes a tedious wait, and you're further punished for every time you switch server. People need to get the bee out of their bonnet about it, it's an alpha. the devs ARE aware that this is an issue and haven't implemented their fix yet, I don't understand why people feel the need to server hop really, yes you get gear quicker but getting gear and pvp/player interaction is really all there is to do in Dayz at the moment, so in the end their just shitting on their own experience. -
i hope they consider what can be modded carefully, epoch and overwatch kept the mod alive, 1000+ vehicles and spawn with dmr easymode made the mod shite, and soaked up all the players until the mod turned into a generic clunkier battlefield.

lee's stories are pretty whatever, it's the fact that they're drenched in sadism that makes them seem so tasteless to me. It's all fun and games until he's hurling filthy abuse at a stranger over the internet because he won at something ("for once", felt like it needed to be added in there.) pretty obvious from this quote that LHE is looking for any reaction, so if you want him to stop, stop posting. also nah lee, you totally implied you roleplayed raping a chick, like it or not, you weren't very subtle.

Regarding the people complaining.
Capo replied to ProfessorShanks (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
we have a whole separate thread for that argument, and in that thread it is obvious opinions are mixed, some people really like the loot system. secondly there is going to be a mechanic put in place to prevent server hopping, and i'm sure that the devs are going to tweak the hunger/thirst meters so you aren't constantly in need of sustenance, which would give you a more even playing field, as you can possibly make it further inland without dropping unconscious. I don't care that it's not fair for me, or anyone else who joins the server a couple of hours after restart, I want it to be hard, and the best way for a game to be hard is for it to be "unfair". pointing out what you think of as a problem isn't complaining, but when your problem is my blessing, then obviously we're going to disagree, and surely from my point of view it's gonna seem like a complaint rather than a bug report. -
well i'm sure you'll have a great time with your server restart timing game, i'm gonna enjoy some dayz. also it doesn't look like there's a system in place to stop server hopping at the moment, but it's coming, so eventually you will have to scavenge, or or spend half your time waiting to join a server, suck a big one! i dunno, that guy wants happy play time, he should go back to epoch.
-
it's good business, and i'm pretty sure rocket doesn't sit down with a calculator and decide how much his game is worth, it's probably not up to him. $30 for a game i'm 90% sure i'm going to sink at least 200 hours into over the next year, Well shit, i pay $20 for a cab ride home, doesn't seem so bad when it's in perspective.
-
i'm australian m8, gotta a better idea than you lol. guess what! dayz isn't fair, and never has been, that's a shame. a huge amount of enterable buildings and a huge map, figure something out man. "a huge amount of enterable buildings and a huge map, figure something out man." like i said, it's the first day, it's a bit early to be complaining that you can't find anything on the loot system you haven't really learned yet. I might come to agree with you, but at the moment it's pretty sweet, and i have no interest in finding loot whenever i want. obviously not everyone is having issues, so maybe you're doing something wrong? It's not a final solution mostly likely, but it's a hell of a lot better than the mods spawn system, which was i guess more fair, but way too easy.
-
hopefully the whinging is ignored and we can continue with a fucking hardcore game. loot at restart is great, it means that survival might actually be hard (when was the last time any of you starved or died of dehydration in the mod? what's that? not since your first week? ok, cool.) because you have to scavenge, not just run into a town and wait for loot to spawn. i doubt people are going to only play when a server restarts, because that's extremely sad, and let's face it, unless you have no life, you play when it's convenient to play. it's day 1, give it a bit more time before you start whinging that it's too hard to find stuff, it's not the mod, forget everything you knew, and learn this game.

Can someone please tell me how to pitch a tent?

how do you pitch a tent? think of something sexy. -
(SA) I would love to put a scope on the Mosin
Capo replied to klesh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
awesome, but i'll still be using the cz550 if the scope doesnt have a built in rangefinder. if it does, i'll have some hard choices to make.
