"Come Out With Your Hands Up" (First Encounter)
Capo replied to Robert Allison's topic in General Discussion
that's a great line. good story! -
Sidechat is shite, and keeping it serverwide disabled can only help keep the trolls bored. Once radios are introduced they could work as a kind of sidechat, but that'll still be good because you will only be able to communicate with others while you have battery life, so you can turn them off to save battery (or if some cunts spamming mic on side). atmospherically it's great, as without radios you're entirely isolated to the 50 feet around you (or so) as you should be in the apocalypse. More zombies would also help, but alpher.

It's a bit early for a vote yet, there are only 2 different rifles in game, of course it's gonna be too easy. I'm looking forward to large amounts of zombies, amounts that you wouldn't hesitate to use your m4 to defend yourself against. Military gear should indeed be rare on the coast, but rather than removing spawns, they should make it so you either need to be a master sneak or relatively well geared to even have a chance of getting at them. if there were about 500 zombies at balota and the ai was decent, you could put the regular spawns back, because the newspawns can try and get close if they want, but they're going to get ripped to shreds the moment they get seen. 500 zombies would probably destroy peoples fps though, so optimize.

somebody lock this shit thread
-
are you german? a handy as i know it is a sex act.....
-
too harsh, dying is bad enough if you play properly as is.
-
good idea, killing yourself isn't really advantageous at the moment, as there's no guarantee that you'll get the spawn you want, and that's another 20 minutes wasted. but yeah, forcing players to play the hand they're dealt would be better. i would like to add that 3 hours is a bit much, make it an hour and that should be enough, if the noobs are willing to waste an hour of their "precious" time then that's not my problem, but at least in that hour they should have either gotten to where they want to be anyway, or gotten enough gear to justify not killing their character. although as the guy above me said - you'll probably end up with freshies trying to get other players to kill them so they can respawn so.... idk, it's a good idea, but depending on how much work it would take to implement it might not be worth it, or we won't see it for a long time.
-
some kind of survival based stats would be great, but - they MUST not include any information about kills, we don't need to encourage people with a K/D ratio. could include things like survival time - current life average survival time - personal average survival time - global amount of zombies killed in a life - current life/global and of course they could take it further, but yeah, i like it, great idea. So long as pvp stats are avoided entirely.
-
I didn't know they were random! THANKS FOR RUINING IT! in all seriousness though, great idea, i'd always assumed i was triggering the birds.
-
it's an idea, but there's plenty of clothes to choose from, why are you all wearing military gear if you're having trouble distinguishing yourselves from other players? that's basically the bandit uniform, and there's plenty of clothing that camouflages you well without being military. this was an issue with the mod, but we survived. If you get into a situation where you're looking at a guy and you don't know who it is - describe what they're doing, and tell them to go prone. if they go prone, friendly. if they don't, light them up. it will take practice, and you're going to need to explain it before you use it, but it worked very effectively for my team. i think looking the same as your enemy would be more a headache in the heat of battle. There's a reason why real military units wear different uniforms to each other.

Adding Weapon Packs - Almost there
Capo replied to prominentalex's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
is this for standalone or the mod? you cannot mod the standalone yet (thank god). -
Best of luck lol
-
you just defined what the game is meant to be. They should do no more coastal spawns, and all spawns randomly inland instead, with no indication of where you are. sick of these guys, oust the motherfuckers.
-
YOU worry about it, you've obviously missed the point of the entire game.
-
Missing the point, even after i spell it out for you. yeah why would you want to make things hard on your players in a survival game, why shouldn't it be streamlined and player friendly? you dill, if the survival isn't brutal as fuck, how exactly is Dayz a survival game? That means taking every last shred of control you think you should have, and shitting on it, then setting it on fire. you and your friend are obviously young, ignorant and self important, so it's about time someone said - If the game is too hard for you, go back to CoD. Fuck player friendly, fuck catering the game to English speaking preteens and fuck the idea that "west is best", you ignorant cretins.
-
no. this was suggested like 2 days ago, and it was a terrible idea then. except maybe adding bath salts. That's a great idea. other than that, there's no way to accurately represent drugs in game (weed makes you better at reloading, what?) and it would create a whole bunch of legal issues.
-
look man, you don't even know the difference between german and russian (hint - they use different alphabets), and you don't look at the street signs yourself anymore, so why do you want the signs in english? why not ask for the names to be in russian on the map instead? that idea is about 10x less shit than yours. The signs are in russian because they are setting a scene, they aren't in english because that wouldn't help set the scene. There is no reason why there would be signs with english, and your own laziness is the only justification you can think of. don't get angry because people don't like your idea, why don't you think of a way to make your idea better? This would negatively impact the first impressions of many who play dayz, and the first impressions make an atmosphere. Most peoples first memories of dayz are of having no clue where the fuck they are, and having no way of describing their location to their friends, thats the point.
-
what if someone created one? all i'm saying is, we in no uncertain terms have no place for 1000+ vehicles, loadouts and extra military spawn servers, i'm not against mods, i'm against shit servers. The problem is the majority of the mods for the mod catered only to those servers, or were ignored. that's what everyone's scared of, and for good reason. It's not ideal, but i'd rather be a cunt than have the game turned into something i don't want.
-
they do, but only because they're obstinately refusing to participate in the game, and then probably joining in the electro deathmatch the moment they're geared.
-
no to mods, because the majority of mods don't do anything but make the game easier. not true in the slightest, I could not find a single populated vanilla dayz server in my region at the end of the mods life, and that was mainly due to shitty pvp mods, and private hive owners who used them as a gimmick to attract players. mods can fuck off. although i like pineapples idea of mods, so i'm changing my mind to, mods can only be allowed if they make the game harder.
-
The game is both a pve and pvp experience. Get used to it. when private hives get added, you'll probably see a few NO KOS servers running, but enjoy getting shot on those, because people are going to target those servers. The best thing people can do is not be retarded and try to find ways to filter out KoS, because it's not going to happen, it's never going to happen. NOBODY cares that you don't like getting shot, stop playing like dickheads and you won't get shot so often. PvE servers are for people too stupid to realize that they have to change their way of playing the game in order to survive. It doesn't mean you have to shoot everyone on sight, it means you should expect people to shoot you on sight, and then limiting your exposure to people you don't know. If you want to approach someone, do it from a position of strength, where they can't see/shoot you immediately, and you can predict their intentions without simultaneous death. if you like PvE servers, that's a shame, because you're never going to be safe from people with guns, get over it, or get out.

because you said "running simulator", you neither deserve, nor get my help.

1. wut. sure people still need to root in the apocalypse, but i don't really see how a video game can offer a meaningful interpretation of rape. In fact i'm really glad it's not going to make it in game, because just - wut, i can wank at home, and why would i want to pretend to rape a chick that's probably a guy over the internet? or even worse why would i want to pretend to rape a guy whose probably a 12 year old over the internet? 2. fair enough 3. sure, but in houses, under beds and sofas.
-
i'd rather they stay in russian, no english please. the entire point is that you either have to be able to speak russian or find a way to translate it. Maybe in cities they could have bilingual signs (only maybe), but most of the map is rural backwater. I've lived in rural backwaters, they don't even change the signs if they've got bullet holes in them. I don't think it would have been on the governing body's agenda in the middle of a war, and in the ensuing epidemic, to make chernarus a tourist hotspot. .

i assumed we were gonna be able to customize vehicles, not build one. that sounds odd. i think there should be very few vehicles that are in working order, but a moderate amount that need repair. refueling should be a bitch, and maintaining them shouldn't be too hard, but still relatively in depth. i don't really like running, but a vehicle speeds up your traveltime by about 5x. So it should be a luxury, not a right.
