  1. well, you're right, and i'm not saying too many people is a bad thing. i'm saying it's in alpha, it's sold a million copies, and it's not ready yet, losing some players probably wouldn't worry the team at this stage. on topic, i always assumed player bases would be underground, then they could possibly be on the public hive and move with the team, while also being covert, and not hitting the server so much. I guess taking over buildings would be alright, idk personally i'm interested to see what the team has in mind, but i'd be massively dissapointed if they said "we're doing epoch style basebuilding!"

    who said that? when? As far as i'm aware the only mentioning of illegal drugs have been suggestion threads like this in the last two weeks or so, and from memory they got shot down pretty hard. i fail to see how illegal drugs would bring anything to the game, unless you're going to force feed them to someone. But even then whole dayz "thing" is realism, how are they going to accurately represent an acid trip when every trip is so unique? or what, is dean gonna shoot some meth so he knows what it's like? i don't think so. it just seems like a pile of shit that the game would do better to avoid. stick to medicals, with possible abuse options for some of those - eg morphine. edit - L.O.L http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/163555-meth/page-2?hl=meth
  3. lol not rly, it didn't make a difference in the mod. bandit or survivor skin, they are both likely to shoot at you immediately. to get back on topic, OP is a pompous pseudo-intellectual wanker. alrighty! :thumbsup: good day.
  4. private hives will lock your char to the server, but i'm hoping they aren't necessary and that the deanteam can make a suitable fix. i thought about server hopping when the SA first came out, then i realized there are only two things to do in game at the moment, and server hopping eliminates one.
  5. well, we'll get the obligatory "alpha" comment out of the way, so things like the survival mechanics (weather, water contaminants, etc) are accounted for. but what i wanted to say - we need either more and faster zombies, or wayyyyyyyyyy more zombies at current speeds, for them to be effective. the faster and more zombies sounds like a way better alternative as they'll be less for the server to handle and still a threat. We also need zombies spawning in houses/buildings.

    anal retentive looting only leads to anal retentive dying, and pissing off teammates as they wait for you to finish dicking around with your gear. It sounds complex to the point of pointlessness, you have a certain amount of space to carry things, and while i know you can organize things in your bag to economize space, i don't understand how rotating would work with the square system we have now?

  9. iirc there is a similar hat in the works, it might not be anymore but i'm definitely in support of a leather hat, like the clint eastwood video shows, silly cliche american cowboy hats are a no however, because they aren't functional (sun protection? err not rly). eastern bloc or not, we're in a rural area, and people are working in the sun all day, i'm fairly sure alot of them would be sensible enough to wear a hat.

    kept the original dayZ mod on life support*. It wasn't dayz by the end of it, that's the problem. I play survivor, meaning either at any given time, the object of the game is to stay alive. relevance to thread?

    part of balancing the alpha, but yeah i'm with you, i've got about 10 cans of food in my pack that i don't need. They've got early game right, as finding food on a high population server on the east coast is pretty hard as freshy, but once you've gotten over that hill you're set, if the entire map was like that, hunting would be a necessity. I'm keen for water contamination to be reintroduced, yesterday as i was drinking from a ditch west of lopatino, i realized that: A. i'm not the only one going to ditches and guzzling 15 drinks B. If i did that in real life i'd have some intense squits. so water is gonna become alot harder.

    Mods are the reason we have a 3/4 community of coasties. I wanted to play the vanilla mod, but you know what's boring? playing by yourself. Give people the option to start with military gear and easy access to cars, alot of them will take it, and then everyone else will join because they don't want to play on low population servers. It has nothing to do with "if they wanted to play vanilla they'd do it" because people are going to follow the crowd, and the crowd is fucking retarded. ^ this is why no mods. Not because good mods don't exist, but because server owners can't be trusted to keep things from becoming a deathmatch in a bid to get more players. There are a hell of a lot of CoD kiddies out there, and it's easier to give the preteens and shitheads the game they want rather than make them learn how to play the game they bought. I don't think anyone who voted "no" doesn't like mods or doesn't appreciate what mods have to offer. But rather, saw the pile of shit most private hives turned vanilla into, and are scared that it will end up the same way. if mods improve zombie ai, animations and add in a load of content, why didn't any servers run those mods? Because from memory, none of them fucking did.

  14. Time, my character is valuable because of the time i've invested on them. If i got held up and all my gear taken, i'd be much happier than if i was shot, because i'd rather not die and have to run inland from the coast. that being said, i wouldn't expect anything but a bullet off the coast, when they fix easy combat logging that might be more common to hold someone up rather than shoot them.

    could be part of a special response or riot uniform, for when they add in police stations. would be yay, but you can keep that and i'll keep my bandanna.
  18. comon buddy, the OP took a different turn to where their title suggests lol. on topic, a trading mechanic would be great, or even let people tag others as "friendly" and that allows them to access each others backpacks. dropping stuff on the ground is a bit derpy, but it gets the job done.

    i don't think the weather system is incorporated at all yet, i reckon fog would be in there. should be sick as long as it's not constant, i'm not sure if this was a server mod or epoch, but i remember in the mod there was fog all over the place constantly, 500 meters was the farthest you could spot someone, made overwatch a bitch.

If anything the alpha would be better directed if we had less players, at the moment we've gotta hivemind thing going on where newbies are constantly posting similar threads (eg the two weeks of KoS "fix" threads), and flooding good idea's off the forum. Epoch style basebuilding? fuck no, they were grotesque skidmarks on my apocalypse world. Underground or smaller scale stuff would be a much better idea, but - that is a long way away. bases should be great when they're implemented, but first we've got cars, tents, the rest of the survival mechanics and making sure all the gear works as it should, more weapons and hunting, so....there's a queue

    Less east-coast spawns

    I like the idea of random inland spawns, because too many people won't get off the fucken coast, and it seems like an easy way to populate the entire map. It's not people don't want to spawn on the east coast, it's that alot of people don't want to spend 40 minutes running for their 5 minutes of deathmatch. If you don't want to spend 90% of your time in the east, don't? you have legs, run west. The m4 is currently the only rifle you can find at military installations, so it's rarity is off. I'm reallllllyyyy looking forward to the sks and the ak-74 being added as that will make everything a little more jumbled, and less calibre homogenous. Not only that, the increasing of zombies should make balota a much more imposing lootrun than it is currently, but even if balota was looted out, you're still going to see freshies running there to maybe find a gun, and bandits waiting there to maybe shoot whoever they can spot, it comes with the location of the airfield.

    Rare maps? Really? In 2014?

    While maps are relatively rare, and while i'm not sure maps should be in separate pieces. I DO know that there's no way in hell that you're getting a map on spawn, and it should stay that way. I use the online map sometimes, but i'd rather use the in game map.
