If I Spawn In Solnichniy One More Time I'll Puke.
Capo replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
Nope, play something else if you want that. When you've spent time doing something, you don't want to feel like you've wasted that time, which adds to the tense nature of dayz. Player interactions are only fun because either of you could be dead in the next 5 minutes, and the idea is that you want to stay alive. If you could simply respawn 20 meters away it defeats the entire purpose. "Solnichney would be fine if there was a military base or city nearby" - there is a big town nearby, mostly filled with gear at all times, it's called polana, go there or continue whinging. "either way, you waste 20 minutes of your time to get to a reasonable location only to be shot, because the best cities are the closest to the current spawns" - obviously they aren't the best cities if going there carries a near certain chance of death, stop going there, or continue whinging. "the fact that I spawn in the same place 4 times in a row is both ridiculous and immersion-killing" - No, the fact that you respawn at all is ridiculous and immersion killing. Spawning in a city wouldn't make it any more immersive, it'd just give you what you want, deal with it, or continue whinging. "at it's current state, with zombies being easy to kill, low in numbers, no animals and weather/sickness taking almost no toll, this game is pvp oriented whether we want it to be or not." - you're right, it is PVP oriented, that doesn't mean that encouraging players to only populate 10% of the map is a good business strategy. just because it's an alpha doesn't mean that the game should become a short term deathmatch because you can't handle holding "w", get used to it, stop playing and wait, or continue whinging. (while i'm aware it kind of already is, it doesn't mean it should be designed around that fact.) "So in my opinion, since Dayz is most fun when interacting with other players at the moment, why spawn us so far away from places to get loot and meet people, and why spawn me there 6 times in a row" - That's a fair opinion, and if that's what you enjoy doing, definitely go do it. The reason we aren't all spawning in electro is because Dayz is meant to encourage player interaction in a survival scenario, meaning people need to be desperate, untrusting, manipulative, cruel, and obviously sometimes just nice guys. The best way to achieve this outcome is to make sure that all players are scared of something, in this case, dying and having to run 20 minutes to get back. Obviously if you can't deal with the consequences of dying, then why are you playing this game? And if you're such an avid interactor of players, why would you want to cheapen the experience by giving yourself nothing to lose? I'm aware that i haven't been the friendliest of forum goers in this response, but it just seems so obvious to me, and frankly this forum could do with a cleanup of all the whingethreads and shit ideas designed to turn this game into what individuals want, rather than what it's going to be. You're playing an alpha, so yes, it's gonna be a bit barebones, if you don't like it, don't play. Come back when there's more content and maybe you'll have a less shite time. -
One Kill On Sight Thread To Rule Them All!
Capo replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
I don't think the majority of players dislike KoS. I think the few that really don't like KoS are very new and very vocal about it, and that most people really just don't like geared players going to the coast and wanking over a bunch of newspawns. Anyone who plays dayz for a while comes to understand that even if you don't KoS, there's nothing to stop the other guy from doing so, and that's the way it goes. To conclude, please stop making threads about KoS. It's just a stupid subject, there is nothing up for discussion, it's do or don't, and inevitably, die anyway. Don't like it? don't play, there will be no PvE servers, no sanity system, no identification for bandits, just play how you want and don't have too much of a sulk when it doesn't go the way you wanted. -
ok, it sounds like you're spawning and running straight to electro or berenzino. Not ours, or the devs problem if you haven't quite figured out the game yet.
-
combat logging and hacking was not fixed in the mod, private hives are shite. Private hives slightly remedied the problem, but frankly it all depended on having good admins, and that's luck of the draw. The combat logging suggestion is pretty good, some kind of sound if the player logs off early after firing shots would be good aswell. not sure about zones, that would sort of fix it, and sort of not do much, like you said. It's an idea, and could be combined with something to make a solution.
-
They'll be in when they are ready. point is wrong, you already are looking for stuff on the way.
-
No OP, dayz is not that kind of game. it doesn't matter if you think it would make the game better, it's just not that kind of game.
-
i like it. good idea. also i'd like to suggest a bookmark or dog-ear page option. It's a hassle trying to find the page you were on.

What's the difference between Regular & Hardcore?
Capo replied to the_daddy2009's topic in New Player Discussion
lol. suck a dick you retard. -
ya this annoys me aswell, the amount of times i've scrambled because i heard a shot go past my head as i'm closing the map. only to realize i hit a tree or something with my axe.

What do you think of people calling Kill on Sight players ... "kids"?
Capo replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
i think you're misinterpreting the term. as far as i know - CoD Kiddies = People whose only interest is to get a gun, and then sit in one of the coastal cities in order to shoot anyone and anything they come across, then die, and repeat. going up north and shooting everyone you see is entirely different, it's taken 3+ hours to get all the gear, and fuck getting sent back to the coast once you're there, you've actually got something to protect. i might be wrong though, it's a forum term with probably various meanings to various different people. also, there are no such things as "no kos" servers. we need a few thing stickied on the forums: 1. vehicles will come, they will not be numerous 2. "no kos" servers don't exist 3. sanity/anti kos systems are not going to be implemented just a couple of things that people seem to create forum accounts specifically to ask for, ending in 30 topics with the same general idea. -
Reckon the devs dropped the ball on this one, first point - that muzzle brake is for the m44 model of mosin nagant, not the m91/30 that we use in game. What affect does this have you ask? well: http://www.gunandgame.com/forums/mosin-nagant/60152-91-30-muzzle-break.html http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090209063659AAZtbHz http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20120226203009AASObBC http://russian-mosin-nagant-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3556 basically attaching an m44 clamp compensator to an m91/30, from what I gathered from those websites, means that eventually you're going to end up shooting your own muzzle off. Because they don't fit that model. Secondly, a muzzle brake reduces kick, it doesn't make it easier to hold steady, some kind of explanation from the devs would be nice, i can understand if this is an alpha thing and they're just testing it, but i dunno why they couldn't have just made the gun have a better accuracy in the first place. Extra attachments for weapons are always great, but don't go around adding things that A - wouldn't work for that weapon B - don't work as they should the bipod and lrs work great, the PU scope needs to have it's zoom corrected, and then it too will be a beautiful and useful addition to the mosin. There's no reason to be silly though.

we need a sticky announcement that just says "GET OFF THE COAST" seriously, the only reason you'd have difficulty finding loot on a high population server is if you stay on the coast.
-
i was playing on a hardcore server, would that make it different?
-
My point is, stop complaining that it takes time to travel, it will always take time, that's the way it is. It might not be relevant to you, so i would understand if a lack of context caused to you fail to understand that.

Okay guys, who's going to confess being in this video :D

wut this is what i thought of when the voice modulation fell apart lol. -
i haven't had a chance to use a regular flashlight, as i swapped out to a headtorch asap. But headtorch works fine for me? you only use it when you're looting a building and it's pitch black inside, you don't need it when you're outside because the moon+night eyes should work fine. it's a "shoot me" beacon if you leave it on for long periods of time, but if you're quick, quiet and don't leave the flashlight on for too long you're probably more safe than during daytime. also everyone calm down about snipers, NVG's didn't work with (most, and i think the dmr was bugged) snipers in the mod, why would it be any different here? What we don't want are thermal/night vision scopes, they'd be OP. that's crap, and gtfo out of electro if the idea of getting shot bothers you so much. Fucken kids.
-
that's vaguely true, but many of the top streamers use 3rd person. obviously his opponents were also using third person, so it's not like he had a specific advantage.
-
this is a very interesting idea. also, good work on the picture, it's informative and classy. I can't really see anything wrong with this, you're damn right that at the moment people place zero value on their characters (i do, but i'm one of the few), and this is definitely a way of increasing that perceived value.
-
thought i'd bump this instead of making a new topic, every patch i get excited because maybe the devs put facemask bandanas in as a surprize, every patch i'm dissapointed :(. More facemasks would be great in the finished game, and with everyone looking more of less the same in the alpha something to cover up that flaw would be brilliant. Although rather than more payday masks or the like, I'd prefer more realistic methods of face concealment, and to be honest i would have thought bandanas as facemask made more sense than as a hat.
-
I feel swoony for the boonie.
-
devs have something in the works, i dunno if it'll work, but it's something. personally i'm loving the cloud, so if it could be made entirely viable that'd be greaaaaatttttt.
-
guns aren't that hard to find, i've left quite a few mosins lying in their houses in the last 2 days, and it took me about an hour to find a mosin in a car for my hardcore character :D. yet to see a shotgun though. Haven't seen an m4 in a while but i've heard them shooting so i know they're around. I don't get why people are complaining, I'm loving less loot. people can't be having that much difficulty finding a weapon or they'd spread out more evenly over the map, also get over running, dayz is built on it.
-
found a mosin in a car at novy, not more than an hour ago, in the dark.
