OP unrustle your jimmies. Dayz has no drugs, only medicine. Our internet deals are prettttyyyy lame, fact is telstra should never have been allowed to hold a monopoly on the telecommunications infrastructure, it's fucked us deeply.

Neutral safe zones that physically prevent combat
Capo replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
This will not be taken into consideration. Shite idea. -
ya i've been checking barns and those industrial sheds/sites. No dice. They used to be everywhere before.

Try and hear where the shots are coming from, take cover, wait out. The easiest way to win alot of dayz confrontations is to find a place where you're safe, and wait for them to make the first move. I've killed quite a few people simply by waiting for them to make a mistake. If you wait long enough and your enemy is impatient, they'll end up in the open, and ripe for the picking. It's really hard to be patient, and a lot of guys start chomping at the bit to make some kind of assault/kill. Usually this puts you out in the open at some point, and that's when you end up dead. All the guys saying they flank, they aren't wrong, but so many times I've had squaddies die on me during the flanking maneuver. Flank to a position where you have a view of your target's general location, and sit still. Enjoy getting kills and feeling like you're about to have a heart attack. Of course if you don't have a gun, try and hear where the shots are coming from, take cover, and then retreat using the cover to block their view of you. Do it quickly, before they can relocate and you don't know where they are anymore.

your name is misleading, you clearly aren't the voice of reason.

100man servers... my biggest fear has been realised.
Capo replied to Cenobyte's topic in General Discussion
Good, you can get inland from spawn anyway. -
"I agree with everything, except I am a little bit more inclined to say Hardcore should be realtime day/night cycles. Will be following this thread with interest. We are actively investigating how we can make an accelerated day/night cycle server option for regular servers as we speak." rockets reply from that thread, hopefully it'll make an appearance in some form.

I like the idea of a hockey mask, but I'd prefer some less obviously bandity facemasks to be implemented first. a scarf, bandana or something that provides anonymity without screaming "bambihunter" would be nice. We already have the payday masks, and the gasmask, both of which are basically synonymous with KoS. I'd rather a little more option for variation than more bandit gear.

What can we look forward to in the next few patches ?
Capo replied to Jono67's topic in General Discussion
what can we look forward to? xequinox90 getting permab& from the forums. Or at the very least everyone learning to ignore his potty mouth posts. -
Some kind of compromise must be made, 12 hours or so of night is unbearable, 24 hour day is also unbearably boring, and makes a lot of gear useless. also it takes away the opportunity for night raids and general scary operations. this suggestion on reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/1wugs3/a_compromise_for_those_who_want_to_play_247_day/ is the best solution I've seen. I would be so pleased if the devs at least tested this.

no pants = KoS. No questions asked.

Learn how to deal with people in Dayz, it's not happy playtime. don't let them too close (physically and emotionally), and don't just run out into the open going "HI WANNA BE FRANDS?!". Last thing, don't fucken expect to hang out with them for a long time if you do get a "friendly" back. The longer you spend with a stranger, the more likely it is they'll turn on you.

lol i thought you meant "feelings".

and i thought i was being original, basically the same guy as me.

Burlop Sack and other uses (I.e) Bandit Head/Makeshift mask)
Capo replied to Jack Corban's topic in Suggestions
lol weird that this got no replies, it's been suggested before. I don't think there's been any official word, but there was a bug last patch that caused people to be able to see out of the burlap sack and it was quite popular as a facemask. -
How to zero in with mosin when bolting takes eye off target?
Capo replied to Highlander007's topic in General Discussion
that's a bit harsh, RO2 has some great mechanics that wouldn't be out of place at all in Dayz. It's a fine military sim. This works, but if you miss you end up not knowing why. They probably won't add manual bolting, but I've heard that if you hold down the fire button instead of tapping you get to see where your shot lands. If that isn't a feature, it damn well should be. Squeezing the trigger rather than jerking it. -
depends where you are, the problem with the coast is that there are alot of scavengers just wearing what they can find. I was brained by a gentleman wearing a yellow raincoat yesterday as I was scoffing some beans.

Lootable Buildings are Becoming an Endagered Species
Capo replied to DarkwaveDomina's topic in General Discussion
hope the devs see this, i always figured it was a result of them playing with the spawnrates, but yeah if they could spread it out a bit better that'd be great. -
when people offer me food i punch them in the head.
-
I'd say you look relatively friendly, if you were carrying that rifle I'd either avoid or shoot at you though. I'd KoS if you weren't wearing pants. Usually it's a good sign that whoever that person is, they've either taken enough shit today, or they're silly billy's who'll try and punch me.

ya would be good, epoch turned into a game of quickdraw exiting the car because the first group to stop the car and get out were able to shoot the other crew like sitting ducks. Although sometimes one would go for the ram, i remember my group and another got completely massacred - our machine gunned pickup vs an SUV, the SUV went for a head on collision and destroyed both cars, and flung all 4 squaddies out. While out pops another 4 guys from the SUV and because we're all mixed in together we all end up shooting each other. 1 guy on the other team survived. two full carloads of fully geared players with cars completely wiped inside 3 minutes, all because we couldn't just shoot from the car. All at night :D

That's an exaggeration, not every gun is going to need or be able to use a plethora of modifications. The SKS being one of those guns. The majority of the modifications suggested are American aftermarket parts, and would be either extremely difficult to get in a post soviet state before the collapse of civilization, let alone afterwards, or require gunsmithing skills, which we can assume most people don't have. Attachments should be introduced based on what the weapons role is, and what would be readily available. The SKS is a battle rifle, it's effective range is about 400 meters, it doesn't need LRS, synthetic stocks, bipod or any of that shit to fill that role. a muzzle brake - which would actually be very effective for an sks, and possibly an extended mag (only because it's a very simple modification, they would have to be very rare), would be the only extra modifications that should be implemented. Once the PU scope is fixed to it's proper zoom it will serve the mid range battle rifle role much more effectively than it currently does. Apart from that there isn't much you can do with an SKS without US made parts and some gunsmithing skills.
