I was on this server the other day, it was truly a great experience. I'm fairly new to this game and i was out exploring the wilderness when i came across what i think was the NW airfield, i saw this guy driving around in a military truck, so i hid in a tree and scouted out the area waiting for him to leave, before i knew it... "Freeze! put the gun down! i'll shoot you! you have 3 seconds! 1... 2... " I replied in a scared keyboard mash, " how??? how???!! how do i drop my weapons?? There was like 5 guys, after the tense stand off i manged to drop my weapons after following their instructions, the guys gave me some meat and to be honest, they were really nice, considering i could've been a threat. Most people would just shoot on sight so i was very shocked. They let me loot the military barracks, whilst they got on with whatever they were doing. I felt that safe i was just running around in the open with no cares, not even looking for threats. 10 minuets went by and i noticed i couldn't hear their truck driving around anymore. I asked on side chat if they were still there, but unfortunately they left. this filled me with an overwhelming sense of fear, as i was on my own, in the NW airfield, although i manged to loot some really nice gear (Camo clothing, m16, stanags, water bottle) I thought it's probably time to leave, but i left the opposite way i came in, therefore i could've bumped into anyone.. Just when i thought i was safe, 2 snaps and my guy was on the floor, i'd been sniped. 4 hours of exploring the map, looting whatever i could find, backpack full of goodies, loads of equipment and a decent firearm, all ended by a sneaky sniper. Looking for a partner or team - Vanilla DayZ

21/UK - (Prefer not to use a mic unless you're around the same age group.) New to this game, although i have a good understanding of the map and all the items needed to survive ect. Finally got rid of my bandit skin (Got it via self defense in stary), Looking to get a hero skin, but i've been finding it difficult infiltrating cities on my own, finding the patient and curing him without being shot. I'm a very cautious player who likes to scope out the situation before entering, i'm not your average run and gun.But having those extra pair of eyes and an extra gun would help. So if anyone is looking to get a hero skin on Vanilla, please feel free to message me on this topic. Cheers- 1 reply

I'm also very new to the game. I've found if you want to kill other players, go straight to Elektro. It seems no matter how many times you shout friendly down the mic, you'll be shot. If you want to play more of a survivor role like myself, maybe hit Elektro via the outskirts, loot a few houses and quickly make your way out. Then find a road and follow it, but keep concealed in the tree line or any cover you can find. You'll soon come across a small town or village. Again stay on the outskirts and loot as much as possible, NOTE: Keep your distance and scope out the area you're about to loot, if you see any agro zombies it tends to mean there's another player. I can't stress enough how just taking your time to watch an area can save your life. Once you gain more experience you'll know off by heart where all the cities are and how to get there, all the high traffic areas and general locations to find decent loot/weapons. Airfields, helicopter crash sights, dear stands and barns tend to have decent equipment. I've found staying away from other players keeps you alive, everyone seems to have a shoot on sight mentality. Many times I've traveled for ages, found plenty of useful items. Then get killed by a random player for no reason. Deeming all those hours spent traveling... A waste of time. I'm yet to master the map or my gun skills, but I've found plenty of good gear which gives me a huge advantage when in sticky situations. My main tips: Stay away from other players, Don't engage unless it's your only option (let them go their own separate way and carry on your journey), take your time scoping areas and keep stocked up on food, drinks and medicine. Follow those tips and you'll survive.
