    Firewood

For which? Cutting dead fall down to size, or making kindling? What kind of saw? A hand saw or chainsaw? I would say all three, hatchet, hand saw and chainsaw. But the hatchet is only one that can be used for kindling, which should not be a problem since a hatchet should be pretty easy to get your hands on.

    Firewood

Not all dead fall would be small enough to use right away. Plenty would need to be cut down to size for a small fire. Plus the making of kindling would require a hatchet. Does that work for ya? ;)

    Firewood

I brought up a similar thing not long ago where you can find small dead trees in the forest which you can push over etc.. and use for firewood. So yeah, +1 from me. In regards to burning a wood pile, I would say you would need more than just matches (talking about something like 2x4s, matches just are not going to do the job). So how about needing some dead fall to use a kindling to start a wood pile on fire.. or just some gas and a match or zippo lighter (I used to collect them, really hope they will be added. of course they would require some gas). :D

Melee Weapons Ideas (Megathread) Post your ideas

A chainsaw is something you would find in this part of the world (where the game takes place I mean). And if you were say, cutting down a tree and a zombie or hostile person came upon you suddenly, would you drop the chainsaw and fight with your bare hands? Or even take the time to pull out a weapon in your backpack? Nah.. you would turn and start swinging that chainsaw like a madman and there would be a nasty mess. Just saying.. no reason to NOT have a chainsaw. Yes it is noisy, it would make even less sense if it was quiet.. no risk in using it. I agree, it would not cut through a person or zombie like butter.. it would rip more than anything and possibly jam. And with a zombie, no doubt you would get hit while using a chainsaw. Regardless, I would not lose sleep if it was not implemented. Mind you, for gathering wood, to stop it from being OP (overpowered), maybe you would need to find chains for it, along with gas. Oil? Anyways...

    No surrender

OP, you realize all you really did was explain why it is an interesting addition to the game? hell yeah fake surrenders should happen! haha

If you would need to run across the map 5 times to make a simple soup... then there is a problem which I am sure would be balanced. Also, why speak of someone... just speak for yourself. But really, something needs to be done for foods in SA. Cooking raw meat over a fire with your bare hands and that is all you eat.. is just sad. More food stuffs to cook, using things like pots and requiring ingredients (more than just.. raw meat), is another great way to add depth to the game. If ya do not like things like this.. continue to play the mod.

    DayZ 'Grave Yards'

What about a crash site like the heli sites, but tis a bus. Story is that people were trying to get out of town but did not realize that one of them was infected already. Crash site would spawn along side the main roads (since heli sites spawn in fields). I like the ambulance idea also, another site that would spawn near roads.

Only thing that should reduce damage is armor. Nothing you eat should reduce damage. Does not make sense.
  9. I read a few comments on latest devblog about tents being too visible. I did a search and found nothing on the first idea I will mention. I am sure seasons have been brought up, just sharing an idea for it. First idea - A lean to. It must have come up before, not sure how it would not. Anyways, it is something that for sure would be done by at least some people fleeing into the bush to survive against zombies, even if it meant hiding under a fallen tree with leaves on ya... A lean to is simply constructed from branches found around the forest floor and/or small dead trees which litter the forest and can be knocked over pretty easy. Could of course build it next to a campfire, or the campfire next to it. Combining the two provides greater benefits then if it was just one or the other. With warm clothes, a campfire and lean to, players could survive pretty nasty winters. Maybe if you just have a campfire going, and some strong winds start up, your campfire could go out. So a lean to would be needed to protect the fire from the wind, rain, snow etc.. On a side note, I think fires should keep animals away as they generally do irl. I mention winters because i am hoping for 4 seasons (at some point), not just rain sometimes and snow on top of certain mountains which you never see fall, and wind through the trees. Imagine that the leaves of deciduous trees turned brown or red etc.. in the autumn and fall off for winter. The only cover in the forests would be the evergreens during winter, until next spring when the deciduous trees go into bloom and grow leaves again. The map would change throughout the year. It makes winter time that much more difficult to survive because there is less cover. And of course, 4 seasons provides other survival situations.. drought (less fresh water) and sunstroke (player gets ill if he/she is out in the sun for too long without a hat or something) in the summer, cold in winter plus less animals (so players would have to prepare foods in advance to prepare for winter). And of course, spring and fall would be much more rainy etc.. Just some ideas for ya to chew on. :)

    Player decisions: Unlocking new Content

Any chance ya got a link for that? Cannot seem to find it via google.. edit: nvm, believe i found something on it from Rocket

    Player decisions: Unlocking new Content

How about this. I know it would not be done, but it is funny so I will share. An underground bunker.. or some such construction. The only entrance is locked with a combination padlock. Players would have to figure out the combination in order to get in and get za loots or whatever. Then the lock is reset with a new combination. hehe It would at least make some good youtube vids! :D

Some recipes (I like to cook so this is an interesting section for me). I think recipes should be simplified.. no need for chicken broth.. or rosemary, or cumin seeds etc.. lol Lastly, it would be interesting if eating say, cooked meat by itself has a chance of giving you cramps or something like that.. so it is better to eat meats with some veggies etc.. Irish stew Ingredients - Potato, Carrot, some kind of red meat (like beef), water, and beer! Tools etc.. - Stove or campfire, large pot, wooden spoon, bowl or thermos (bowl for eating immediately, thermos to take with you but thermos only keeps things warm for so long) Effects - Blood gain, warmth (if soup is still warm in thermos), general increase in vitality? Chicken soup (since there is rice already added to SA it seems, I will use rice instead of noodles..) Ingredients - Rice, water, chicken, carrots, celery Tools etc.. - stove or campfire, large pot, wooden spoon, bowl or thermos Effects - Blood gain, warmth (if soup is still warm in thermos), general increase in vitality? and cures you from the common cold or flu ya get from being cold too long well enough for now.. more later no doubt :D

I would like to see more food stuffs, thus more ingredients to harvest / gather from the world. More items such as pots and pans etc.. I believe they will be adding things like working stoves no? Anyways, really like the idea of being able to sneak into a camp, find a pot of stew hanging above a campfire and adding something poisonous (like the nasty mushrooms), then hiding to watch the fruits of your labor. Would be best if you were close enough to hear their voip conversation haha. (what the hell, i just ate the stew and now i am seriously ill, got any antibiotics?)
  14. Only thing I know is that they are using a modified version of the arma engine, they have customized it to their needs.. so maybe that has been changed? Not sure..
  15. Fallujah - yeah something like that! How is the fps on that map?
  16. I just need some time to cry in the corner... :(
  17. Interesting idea. Could be used to take people up to a tourist area on the mountain which has a great view of a valley. Or up to a ski resort. I would not add it to a larger city, should be outside of town in the bush. Some type of gas generator yeah, repair it, fill it up with gas and start it up. And while you are on it, if some player can cut power, maybe the cable car slowly goes back down the mountain instead of just being stuck in the air. That may avoid some exploitable stuffs.
  18. So ya think that just adding weather effects and deciduous trees with changing leaves would still require 4 maps? Like I said, I would be happy with these two additions to simulate seasons. Not all the grass, ground and building textures etc etc need to change.
  19. So seems at this point, we may not know how wood might be gathered in SA. So here is an idea for that. 1 - For larger projects like a cabin (if that will be implemented..), or barrier building etc.. you would find planks of wood at a lumber mill, or in town at a construction site. For this a vehicle would be needed, or risk taking small amounts in a wheelbarrow, or even a makeshift trailer hooked onto a bike. 2 - For building campfires, lean to and other small survival wooden structures, and camouflage stuffs.. you find small dead trees in the forest and hack them down with an axe. But also, maybe during high winds and storms etc.. tree branches break off and fall to the ground which then can be found and collected (maybe after using an axe on them). These tree branches would be spawns which only occur during high winds or storms etc.. This does not mean part of a tree comes down and now the tree is missing a branch. I know it would be a lot easier to just approach a tree with an axe, have some animation happen and suddenly you have some wood. Just thought this idea might add some more interesting dynamics to the game. More hunter / gatherer / scavenger feeling to it. Need to start a fire? Ya gotta go looking through a forest for branches first instead of standing at the nearest tree. Of course it would be great to actually cut trees down and use a chainsaw on them (devs, if this is your plan... disregard my idea lol), or hack branches off trees and then see that the tree is now missing a branch. But this requires server restarts which reset all the trees etc.. My idea requires wood planks to spawn in appropriate places and fallen branches spawning during storms etc.. Anyways, I am rambling.. Oh, one other thing. I know it has been mentioned that wood could be wet, thus somewhat difficult to start a fire with. And that gas could be used to start a fire much easier. But what about your old worn out clothes and rags found in the world? Should be able to use these to help start fires. I mean, are there any planned uses for ruined clothes as of yet?

    SA suggestion - wood gathering

Building above and below ground would be great! Maybe branches could just spawn on the ground instead of falling.

    Carrying 2 backpacks.

haha, should have thought of that! Price ya pay to wear two backpacks I suppose.
  22. Yeah there are plenty of beautiful sights to see here. Well, not many in Mexico City lol. Recently went to this wicked river in the jungle near Huatulco. Check it out on trip advisor. On that page there are visitor photos to look at.
  23. I do not have time to watch all the vids and read all the posts on this forum or reddit. I did some searching but have not found the answer. How will they handle the harvesting of wood?
  24. Nice. I am from the island also. I know Nanaimo well.
