Not sure about those since they started being produced in 2006. The game roughly takes place in the 80s no?

Change to the Graphics engine to block forrests.

ah shit... 3rd person.. lol. I would hope that even in 3rd person, a player in a forest below would have cover. I can only cross my fingers though. we shall see. IMHO, in regards to adding to the forest, this should be a priority... the forest providing cover. From ground level outside the forest, ground level some distance away inside the forest, and from the air. This should also aid in hunting animals (meaning animals can detect you the same as zombies, via sight and sound). Anyways.. -
Yeah I would not want to see that pristine SUV, or the hello kitty car lol In regards to those two american military vehicles. There are plenty of Russian military vehicles which would be found in the area. Such as: UAZ-469 Ural-4320 I believe both are already in the game no?

I would like to see some more furniture etc in the SA
Cormyr replied to NagsterTheGangster's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think just the barriers should be movable. Not all furniture etc.. Maybe barriers are not movable at all, just there until you use something to remove them and then they despawn and spawn later at some point. But it would be nice to be able to collect such things and use them yourself on your base or another building etc.. anyways.. just thoughts on it. -

Change to the Graphics engine to block forrests.

Most important for me is that forest, brush, shrubs etc etc.. provides cover. Should not be able to fly over a forest and look down to see everything on the forest floor. That should only be possible in clearings etc.. so hopefully they achieve that. Of course I would love for realistic things like forest, weather, animals etc.. I think we just gotta wait and see what is released. And from there make suggestions which might be possible etc. -

Yeah not sure why I was thinking everything would be nailed in place lol. Tis true, should be able to move certain items out of the way. my bad -
More vehicle types that fit the game, yes! But also, have them spawn in places that make sense. House driveway.. parking lot of a grocery store.. side of the road in some cases etc.. bus parked at bus stop. Did some searching. Got some cars for ya. Sorry if they have been mentioned somewhere before. These are not meant to be the most exciting vehicles in the game, just what I think would be found in general in this part of the world. Russian: Moskvitch 2141 Aleko (mid-size car) GAZ Volga (somewhat fancy mid-size car) GAZ-53 (truck) KAMAZ 1st generation (truck) ZIL-130 (dump truck) Ukraine: ZAZ (several cars) LAZ-695 (bus) my 2 cents

Should not be too difficult to add furniture etc.. to houses without blocking the player too much. Would be nice if you could climb over things like counters and couches etc.. if they blocked the path. -

And without an axe or something like that, you cannot break down the barricade and enter the house. I like it! -
Yeah I got that and I think the OP gets that. But this pack idea adds another layer to the zombies. Groups that stick together and follow a leader which maybe has not been infected for so long and thus is a little smarter etc.. So they may or may not follow gun shots etc.. maybe they would already be on their way to another location because they heard or saw something there. They would not be so easily controlled by players. My addition to the OPs idea was to have hordes that come from outside of the map and wander into the closest town (depending on where they entered the map), or maybe the closest thing is a player base. Just adds more random events into the game. Instead of just one form of zombies to deal with, you have multiple which may or may not act different then the usual loner zombies who only group because they are going for the same noise or whatever.

[SA] Diet/Medicine system = dynamic trade/survivor value system
Cormyr replied to TheOldManoftheNorth's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
In general I like the idea. Not sure if I would like to see certain foods in only certain areas of the map. Do not want it so everyone who needs vit c goes to a certain town where there is an orchard and that is the only place to get it. I think every town should have some kind of farm and/or orchard (been meaning to post about farms and orchards), and each farm/orchard should be different in size and with different combination of food stuffs. I do not mean that healthy veggies and fruits are super abundant, quite the opposite. But there should be options in regards to where to get stuff. Should be the same for animals Not sure about multivitamins. Taking pills is a poor way to supply your body with vitamins etc.. So IMO, I would scratch that part but add foods which supply said vitamins (iron, vitamin c etc..). This increases the value of taking the time to cook. I posted in another thread some recipes for things like chicken soup (feeds ya but also helps you recover from cold or flu) and irish stew (feeds ya but with the red meat, it would increase your iron). So just with iron and vitamin c, you have two food types to eat together for optimal intake of vitamins (vitamin c helps your body absorb iron). So again, hunting a deer, cooking up some meat and eating that will help your iron levels (and of course feed ya..), but not as good as if you ate it with some vitamin c supplying fruit. On second thought, maybe multivitamins are good. Make them somewhat easy to find. But they do not help you much since most of the vitamins in them will just get pissed out of your system. And if you take too much, you might just OD on iron. So this adds another layer to this idea. Take multivitamins for a quick fix but in the long run they are not the solution, so good healthy veggies and fruit are required for you to be at your best. Which takes effort. So it helps balance the whole taking the easy way just because I can kind of thinking. Which is the direction I think the devs want to go. gtg, maybe more later.. lol -
I was responding to mick17, not you dude. :P

Here is another twist. You hide in an armoire or closet. Player chases ya into the building and can hear ya breathing heavy inside. Player decides to take some rope, or handcuffs, and locks you in. ;) Of course, after some time, it will automatically unlock like the handcuffs will if placed on a player. Also, this hiding in closets etc.. could be used to ambush the player chasing you. Like in BigMikes post above: room or building has two entrances, you hide but player does not find you.. so exits the 2nd entrance. Now you are behind the player and can sneak up for a knife in the back or whatever.. :D

For Standalone - Dynamic minefields.
Cormyr replied to happytree_friends@hotmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
What I meant by dead zones is exactly what you said about minefields being mapped on wikis etc... people could find out where they are and just not go there... a dead zone. -

Sorry but.. if there may be minefields in the region.. does not mean it should be in the game. I am not totally against it.. just do not want it to create dead areas of the map which nobody goes except new players, who only go there once. -
Stages of infection - nice. Good way to have some which are somewhat intelligent (not that they would be writing any novels etc.. lol) and have some type of social skills, enough to group together and follow a leader. Maybe some even have memories of being alive? Thus they could do things like use melee weapons... kinda.. and defend themselves a bit better then aimlessly charging forward and drooling / screaming.

I would not like to see all zombies be in these packs. I would prefer if there are packs on the map, some that wander onto the map from outside, and the really dumb zombies wandering around in search of something to eat. What I see is not a pocket of zombies in this town.. then another in the next town and nothing in between. A good mix of packs and loners (although there would be enough loners around in an area that it would almost appear that they are in a pack, just they act independent without any group mentality). Would that not be even more dynamic? ;)
-
Yeah but completely mindless zombies are boring and far to easy to kill etc.. IMHO.
-
I could go for this. In fact I have been thinking of ways to have zombies in groups wander the land. What I mean is, they enter the map from the outside. The next town or city down the highway (which is not part of the game map..) has been emptied of any living being, so their zombie instinct dictates that they move on in search of something or someone to eat.

Cormyr replied to happytree_friends@hotmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Well, I like it but have some thoughts. Static minefields on the map. This might be done in a real zombie apocalypse, maybe to protect a hospital or some place many people are trying to survive and the military is helping out. Issue with having it in the game is, it will only be dangerous to new players. Once you know it is there.. ya just do not go there. So once you do know it is there, there is a bit of map which you just cannot go on.. that area would be avoided creating bit of a dead zone on the map. Player made mines and minefields. This would be interesting. A serious balance would need to be found for this... could get out of control pretty easy I think. So, for the average joe, it would take some time to learn how to do such a thing... for the game, it should be a kind of end game thing. So ya cant just play for an hour and have a base up and a minefield surrounding it. Exactly how easy or difficult it would be to make mines will be up to the devs if they want to add this. -
Only issue I have with this is the idea of using a machete on animals. Hunting knife should be for gutting and skinning animals. Machete is generally used for clearing a path through heavy vegetation like in the jungle etc.. Since there is no vegetation in DayZ which you could use a machete on, the machete could be another way to make kindling (I have done it.. it works fine. But the hatchet would be best at it). Other than that, just the usual slashing melee weapon one would expect it to be (could be used to kill an animal mind you... if ya get close enough). Anyways, yeah, I would like to see as many items as possible having multiple purposes.

I believe this came up before. But yeah, I am all for having bows and crossbows. If they added this, I would probably use a bow most of the time. Tis what I use in TF2 most :D regardless if it pisses peeps off. Types of bows I would like to see: Composite bow, Recurve bow, and the Compound bow. IMO it is not necessary to have many types of arrows. Maybe just one or two for each type of bow is fine. That said, we should be able to make incendiary arrows via oil or resin, or maybe the pitch from a pine tree? No doubt this has been brought up also... regardless, another +1 here!!

Would be a nice addition. +1
