TrickyBot (DayZ)

So I requested a new instance ID a few days ago and I'm waiting for the admins to respond. Is there anything that I'm supposed to do in the mean time? What I've done so far is open the required ports and start the dedicated server with these params: "arma2oaserver.exe" -mod=@dayz;@stats -port=2303 -name=cfgdayz -config=cfgdayz\server.cfg -cfg=cfgdayz\arma2.cfg -profiles=cfgdayz -world=Chernarus -exThreads=0 -maxMem=1024 I figured that the admins might want to connect or check the server before they approve or reject my request. Also, I saw two people joining my server yesterday. How are they able to join if my server hasn't been approved yet?

I'm looking to trade an MK48 (with 6 mags) or an M249 in exchange for an M240. I play on the public hive, so any public server will be good for the trade. If you'd like me to throw in something else to sweeten the deal, just let me know. I've got 24 slot backpacks, NVGs, rangefinders and all kinds of vehicle parts.

I've got a public hive server hosted by HFB and I'm trying to look at the vehicles so I can edit their locations and inventory. I spent about an hour looking through all the tables in the database and figuring out how they work, and what I found out was pretty odd. It looked to me like the server wasn't using the vehicle info from the database at all. I couldn't see my Ural in there which I had parked at NWAF, and whenever I tried editing the worldspace coordinates of a vehicle in instance_vehicle and then restarted the server, nothing happened. Is it even possible to play around with vehicle data in a public hive server or are these tables I'm messing with meant for private hives?

Yup, US 3533 has had double vehicles for as long as I can remember, and I always thought the admin had somehow done this on purpose. There have been quite a few times where they spawn inside each other, resulting in massive explosions whenever I tried moving them. I guess this really is a bug. Anyway, this all makes sense now. How is it that I see public servers with double the vehicles? Also, is vehicle data stored on the master server along with player data?

A few weeks ago my buddy and I stumbled across two Hueys that were fully functional and all gassed up ready to fly. Whoever had them before just left them parked at the fuel tank at the NW airbase. We watched a waited for about 20 minutes, and when no one showed up, we took them and left. Now we're in another server. My buddy had an accident and I had to go pick him up from the coast. When we arrived back at our six tent camp, we found a Ural parked there. Whoever owned it had emptied all the contents of our tents into his truck and then for some reason just vanished. Once again, no one was around so we just got in the truck and drove off to pitch a new camp. Why does this keep happening to us? Are people afraid of us?

My friend and I ended up losing all our stuff today, vehicles, tents and all. We were playing on a public server with not too many people on it. I'd say around 10 or so. This chain of events started where we starting losing everything we had, one by one. 1. We find two cars, pitch a tent and we're happy campers. We have everything we need. Gear, tents, vehicles, the lot. 2. We find a chopper, fix it up, and I die while trying to get out due to a glitch with the Mi-17. Friend picks me up at the coast with his car, takes me back to where I parked my car and we're fine. 3. We find a plane. We fix it up, and my friend takes off while singing "I believe I can fly". He immediately dies after striking an invisible obstacle in the sky. While driving to the coast to pick him up, I get a flat tire at Stary Sobor. I run 3k to my friend's car, get parts, and run another 3k back to where my car was. I get killed by a bandit while repairing and have my car stolen. 4. I run 7k to where my friend's car was parked, in a wooded and secluded area. He still has vehicle parts in there which I can use to fix up the Mi-17. His car has also been stolen. 5. I run to our tents in a different area, also wooded and secluded in an attempt to fuel up the Mi-17 so we can at least gear up faster. The tent is has been looted. 6. I run back to the chopper and try to wait there for my friend. I get shot by a retarded hero who asks me to ID myself while I'm unconscious and unable to respond. He then shoots me in the head and finishes me off. I lose all my gear. So now we've lost everything and are back to square one. Bandits and friendly fire I understand. But when shit like this happens due to glitches and bugs in the game, I just start losing interest. Maybe DayZ isn't for me.

Now that my rage has subsided, it looks like this entire ordeal actually made things in DayZ a bit more interesting. We're scrambling all over the map trying to recover our gear and get even with the people that shot us and stole our things.

I'm trading engine parts or wheels in exchange for one piece of scrap metal. Scrap metal is supposed to be a common part, but I can't find it anywhere for some reason. I also don't want to wander too far away from the center of the map. I'm near Stary Sobor and can trade over any public server of your choice.

DayZ is self-aware, and it's the most successful troll I've ever seen in my life. It knows when to pull shit like this and get maximum rage out of us.

Nope. Neither of us knew that my friend was following me. I told him to stay away and he said he would. I only found out about what he did after the trade was done.

Hehe yeah. The guy that gave me the 10 mags was pretty cautious and figured out a safe way to do the exchange. He dropped the mags in his tractor, parked it in an open field, passed me its coordinates and hid himself far away. The funny part is that my friend was as equally cautious as him and insisted on following me at a distance. He spotted the guy within seconds and kept him in his scope throughout the entire transaction. :p
