This has been said a million times already but still
bain replied to Nicklander's topic in General Discussion
I’m also an experienced player, and on the contrary, food survival is finally interesting. I actually almost starved for the first time in years. I’m having to take risks and make interesting decisions based on basic survival needs. That said, even still it’s too easy. Once I’m past the initial spawn looting frenzy with a full stomach and a couple food items, hunger and thirst return to being a non-issue so long as I’m careful. I wouldn’t mind food being even more scarce. Make spawning fresh a terrifying prospect, where your survival into the mid-game is far from certain. Make those highly geared snipers come out of their nests at least to hunt! -
I waaaaaay prefer 1pp, but often feel forced to play 3pp because the population in 1pp servers is low. I hear a lot of people saying "don't force me to play a way I don't like!" Well, I feel like I am being forced already. There's not really a solution to this, at least none I see. But some percentage of the trend to 3pp is just that low pop servers are boring. I wonder if the number of people who prefer 1pp might be higher than everyone thinks.

Op, you've posed a silly question. How can we tell you if you will regret it? It depends 100% on your perspective on the game. Are you really asking if we regret it? Your asking the dayz forums... The answer for us will be a no for the most part. Be brave, play the game, and form your own opinion from your experiences. Ignore all else.

There's something subconsciously calming and immersive to me about the pitter patter of foot steps and heavy breathing. It's probably because I've been playing for awhile now, but I think it creates the perfect ambiance and mood. It makes the sudden gunfire in the distance so much more striking. That said, if I know I'm doing long treks in woods unlikely to be populated, I do sometimes throw some mood music on. That's largely due to over familiarity with some of the areas of chernarus.

To anyone in this discussion who thinks there's not enough friendly interaction, and wants more: Go sign up for dayzrp. That's just about all they do over there.

Op... I'm not sure for what purpose you want to record, but I assume you want to upload to YouTube? For video making your large resolution isn't going to be much help. Unless you know something I don't I'd recommend recording at the resolution you want your video to play at. That way you avoid converting resolution in post. In other words, you might get your video to look a lot nicer by recording in standard 720 or 1080. It might improve your fps too.

Sounds fun Bobby! Bold moves there. You're quicker on the uptake than myself for sure.

Food is way to easy to find right now. I too feel spoiled by the brief couple of weeks when food was super hard to find. I can't remember the version, but it was the Apple picking period. Loved it. Dayz was real then. I wish that would come back. Or at least close to that.

It's in general too safe to make it the ideal place to play. It is a lot of fun though to have stories and friends and enemies and such. PvP is really restricted though, and from what I saw the reporting process they use is full of drama and a bit of a crap shoot some times. I never got wrapped up in one, but I played it safe. I did read them though. Seems melodramatic to me. Conclusion: it's fun and worth doing, but don't play there exclusively unless you like the super sanitized and safe experience. Don't join it with the expectation to meet all your PvP needs there.

I'd be really tempted by the svd if I found one, but there's something to be said about both ammo availability and not needing to find and carry rare magazines. If rolling with a blaze means not spending hours running the same loot routes a hundred times, then blaze it up Mr. Winchester. That blaze though. Damn that thing shoots smooth.

Legend of The Cherno Spawn - A Tail of Tribulation
bain replied to TRodGene's topic in General Discussion
Oh don't step all over the guy's hero moment. I'm glad it felt good man. It was certainly payed for in plenty of blood. maybe you had to sleep or go to work or something, just remember next time your victim might have friends or lucky respawns, and might have dreams of revenge too. By logging off, you're denying them that same hunt you so enjoyed. -
I'm just surprised. Really, surviving is not that hard. I wouldn't mind it being a tad more difficult. I do need to hit the apple trees right after spawning, but a couple towns north of the coast have all the food and gear you need. Without much effort I'm end game in about the same amount of time as before. The only difference is I'm nigh unarmed for much longer in the beginning.

Hey op, ever pay on the dayzrp servers? There have been times where I've walked from town to town with other people I've met, having in character conversations all the way. Definitely a different experience.

I'm actually not all that impressed. It was a surprise attack hinging on lies and deception, and in the end your whole squad died. Without the metagaming move of returning to your body, you essentially lost everything. Not to mention it didn't sound all that we'll planned out. Total surprise was on your side, but not superior positioning or tactical planning. A lucky failure at best, by my reckoning. Not worth bragging about. Does that man you should be banned? Absolutely not, and hope the offenders lose their server.

What can be done about ghosting on public servers?
bain replied to gankaskon's topic in General Discussion
I concur with this. Seems a simple solution.Personally I'd like the public hive to go away entirely. But I doubt that'll happen.
