Hey guys, me and a few friends tried out the new origins update(even if the people who make it are devil spawn etc) and we tried to get to the new land mass, Novistrana. This is what happened. Please leave any feedback(constructive preferred) below! Also, sorry for me being a bit loud, I'll edit that for the next video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpWij4iKqpc

While I see where you're coming from, it's also one of the main reasons for it. It is an encouragement not to get hit, because like you said you'll lose colour, so you'll try your best to stay intact. Also it's not exact, which is a good thing. This isn't meant to be a game with a health bar, this is meant to be a realistic-ish survival game, that's why they also removed exact hunger and thirst bars. So short answer, no, I like it the way it is atm.

In regards to not being realistic to the setting, you're right, but what if say the mayor of one of the towns or a local crime boss was an absolute gun nut so he had one shipped in especially for him before the infection spread, then in all the commotion he didn't take it with him. This could be cool as it could be customized because it was a personal rifle, but maybe only 1 per server as a result? But like someone said above, run slower, extremely loud, that sort of thing.

The RV engine is the worst engine ever made.
IrishHugo replied to EchelonEffect's topic in General Discussion
Well I'm sitting here with my 15 fps, pretty delighted. Since I have absolutely no experience with game programming, engine designing or what the difference between a programmer and an engine designer is, I believe I am fully qualified to speak on the matter in great detail. Bad engine, should have used other one for reasons unknown, it's alpha is not an excuse, it will never be fixed, I bought the game and have a need to vent my rage in an very unconcstructive and useless matter, bad engine, rocket no no nothing, bad engine, KoS, yet I buy this game when what the game is and what it runs on is clearly advertised everywhere including this forum but I still have to vent my useless comments about something that probably won't be changed. Did I mention bad engine? -
Something it took me quite a while to figure out is that if you find just an FNX45 and no clip, then find .45 acp ammo, you're not sorted. I found the gun and repeatedly tried dragging the ammo onto the gun, screaming at the gun, furiously clicking, but nothing worked. Then I found an FNX45 clip and everything was hunky dorey. What you do with the ammo is replenish the clip once its empty, so drag the bullets onto the empty clip and the clip into the gun. Took me a while since the Mosin doesn't work like that, and I sincerly doubt the magnum does either. What I'd love to do is to chamber a single round with the FNX45 if you only have ammo. And on an unrelated note, where do you find the magnum? I've only found ammo once and I've never seen the gun.

I carrot see a problem with where this is going.

Back in the depths of 2012, Rocket released a mod. The mod had zombies and was an instant success, And rocket was declared a god. The mod had everything you could want, Survival, a challenge, some pvp. The mod went from strength to strength, Everyone knew about DayZ. Then rocket had a great idea, "Let's make it a standalone game!" Everyone rejoiced at this fantastic idea, And thousands cheered his name. Originally Christmas 2012 Was the anointed date. But Christmas came and Christmas went, And so began the hate. "Where is the game?" Screamed the mob, At rocket and his team. "What do you want," rocket replied, "A rushed job or something fit for steam?" But hate had clouded the mobs heads, They weren't in their right minds, "This game will never ever come out!" And a new game they did find. While this raged the mod that Started it all was still going strong. But a new disease was taking hold, One that still hasn't gone. Players from all over were coming, And many lacked any finesse. They were interested only in shooting, And so began Kay Oh Es. Many said that dayz was dying, It was turning into cod, And so many turned back to the savior, Rocket, the one they called God "Making a game is a hard thing to do!" He cried while beating his chest. Then he said "trololol YOLO swag" And went off to climb mt Everest And so interest gradually faded, In the standalone game, A loyal few waited for more to go on, Moths to rockets flame. The summer of 2013 was a hard one, And many were driven mad By the amount of times a release date was given But there was no game to be had And so rocket finally said "That's it! It'll be out when it's out!" The final few who were still hanging on Went off with a whine and a shout And so autumn came and leaves began to fall, And a loyal few remained. A flicker of hope had been reignited, The steam database had changed. Speculation was wild, rumors rampant, A fake picture or six appeared. Rocket, as ever, remained mysterious Merely uttering "it is near" And so the forums are on tenderhooks, Waiting for the anointed game. The funny thing? Rocket stopped working months ago, Took all the money and now lives in Spain. That took a while to write, sorry for any mistakes, I'm on the iPad. Hope you guys enjoy it.

DayZ Origins Night Ops - Pretty Scary! (New Upload)
IrishHugo replied to Quincy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
The video quality at times(most times) is quite appalling, I don't think you had problems with your FPS but it kept going really blurry, almost unwatchable. Your voice was also extremely low, whereas your friends seemed alright. You should get that fixed as well. Overall I think it's too long, until you get a regular viewership, try keeping them short, to like 5 or 6 mins, 10 max. Also have something that happens in the episode, or some sort of goal, not just roam around killing new/nearly new spawns. If you fix the quality, shorten them, get a clearer goal and raise the voice level, I'd probably watch. -
Thanks for the nice comments, I think I have a great future as a professional DayZ poet.

Hey guys, another origins vid, second in the series of me and my friends attempting to explore the new update and everything it has to offer. Even though we have substantially embarrassing hours on it, we're still pretty crap. Lols were had(by us at least!). A view is really appreciated, a sub for more vids even more so! Thanks, Hugh. P.S. Sorry about bad frame rate, am getting it sorted for ep 3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpVcKM__kic

Feedback is appreciated. I've heard some people think the frame rate is too low, does it bother anyone so much that they wouldn't watch it? I've improved it for ep 3, but only by a couple of frames, and it's very annoying.

Again, really good episode, keep it up!

Desktop Resolution 1080p FPS: 10 recording, 20 not so CPU: AMD FX 4100 quad core processer Graphics card: Radeon HD 6670 2gb Ram: 8gb DDR3 Memory: 1tb hdd My FPS is pretty diabolical, would love if someone would tell me what settings I should put it on for best outcome. Thanks, Hugh.

You're a mighty big fan of origins then? I like D4Cs videos, I've only watched a couple but for any Origins/half origins fan, I think they are good. Personally I'd make them shorter, but I have the attention span of a special fish, so don't mind me. I don't understand why you have such an intense hate for kinghunt, they are providing Origins for free to the masses, as well as updating the community regularly. If you're going to bitch, tell us why the things kinghunt did are so totally horrible and affect you personally? Origins is Deadcerts thing, if you don't like it, I'd suggest moving on. P.S. Not a deadcert fanboy, or an origins one, only seen a few vids like I said above

It was something along those lines. Being ambushed on the bridge was the one thing I really didn't expect for some reason.

Hey guys, I made a trailer for the new Dayz "TV" series I'm planning on doing, following the story of a man after the infection breaks out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAyhUZZN01s I plan on doing it all from the 1st person view, as well as doing most of the voices myself. The video quality looks a bit dodgy, I don't know why that is, first time using Sony Vegas, but let's just say that it adds "effect" to it. I'll hopefully get it sorted by the 1st episode. I'd really appreciate a view, and if you liked, maybe a sub. Also if you have constructive feedback, even if it's negative, as long as you don't say its awful and you hate it for no reason, post away. I'd really like some feedback, I also need another four actors for the actual episode, it will probably be filmed over the weekend, and should be an hour max. Thanks very much to Marko for letting me use his server for the filming, as well as him and Chris for acting in it. Thanks, Hugh.

Reward for staying alive for a long time (instinct)
IrishHugo posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I saw a thread about how staying alive gave you resistance to damage, the longer you lived, more you collected, the more resistant you are. While it's a decent idea, as others said, it's too arcades for dayz, but it got me thinking. What if there was an incentive too keep your character alive for as long as possible? I know some are probably thinking about the obvious, loot, but that can be easily collected if guarded by a friend. Say your up north, infected and out of antibiotics. Instead of the long walk to the coast and back, friends kills you and minds your body till you get back, your fully fixed and maybe grabbed a few medical supplies on the way there. If instinct, or something similar, was added, it would be yet another reason to stay alive. My theory is that if your alive for a long time you start picking up things, so what about if you've been alive for, I dunno, ten days or so, you can see footprints and trails in a muddy area. This can be negated by special shoes or maybe covering your tracks somehow, so it's not overpowered. And if your alive for thirty days, your hearing is improved because you are away from all the noises of modern day living, and you know what threats to listen out for. If someone is within, say, ten meters, you can hear a twig breaking from them stepping on it, and therefore know what direction they're coming from. I know it's a bit of a rough idea, but I think there should be some sort of small reward for staying alive for quite a while. Thoughts, suggestions, feedback is appreciated. -

That sounds fantastic, if needed(and wanted, I never seem to be wanted) I can write scripts and also try my hand at voice acting, I was once told I have the voice for radio but I think they meant the face for it. -
Reward for staying alive for a long time (instinct)
IrishHugo replied to IrishHugo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Does nearly every discussion here turn to KoS? Back on topic, lots of good suggestions, glad people like the idea. In regards to night vision, would it make more sense that the longer you played on that specific night, the brighter it got as you went along. It's like in real life, your pupils get bigger(I think) and you see better in the dark the more you stare into it. If you really wanted to go crazy you could do what the pirates did. Have an eyepatch as an item of clothing, your vision is reduced to only one eye, but at night you swap the patch to the other and you have perfect night vision. Because your eye patched eye was in darkness all that time, it has become accustomed to it and now you have nearly perfect night vision. That's why pirates wore them. Sorta a stupid suggestion, but if some people really wanted to have good night vision all the time at reduced normal vision, they could. -
What would you like to see instead of heli crash's in SA?
IrishHugo replied to MitchP's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It could be a bit much but I'd love a really rare chance of finding a crashed C-130 cargo plane, with a load of dead bodies, but maybe mostly survivor ones because it was an evac plane. There could be two or three soldiers with good loot, and maybe even a destroyed Ural or something with salvagable parts. Like I say, could be extremely overpowered, but if it was super rare maybe not. -

While I pretty much agree with everything Raymond said, if you don't want to have it abused, then just stick with the original idea of the longer you stay alive, the more perks you get. I think that the more you cook and other things, the quicker you get is a great idea, I do get that it's turning too RPGey for some. "It is not the strongest of the species that survives. Nor the most intelligent. It is the one most adaptable to change." -
Reward for staying alive for a long time (instinct)
IrishHugo replied to IrishHugo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Exactly. My car in GTA online is purple, has zebra seats and "Los Santos" on the back window(it's called the Shaggin Waggin ofc), and if someone comes between me and her, shit goes down. Imagine a scenario where you have a Lee Enfield and a single, sacred mag. You see three survivors, two with revolvers and one a hatchet, walk up the road towards you. In the mod, you might just KoS, or hold them up without a second thought. But no, you've been alive for 29 days, you notice trails in the woods and muddy fields, you have run so far that you now sprint a tiny bit quicker, as well as hold your breath for longer. Your ears are becoming more sensitive to sounds around you, one more day and you'll be able to differentiate twigs breaking in close proximity from other sounds. Do you risk all this simply to rob a few bandages and a can of beans? How desperately do you need said can of beans? That is what I want from Standalone, because of these little lifetime bonuses. -

I don't think it's too Arcady because if someone who never lived in the forest had to survive out there, he'd pick up a few things, his instincts would sharpen, he wouldn't necessarily have better hearing but he'd know what to listen for and what it was. He's also recognize trails better, I dunno though, just a suggestion.
