Don't be that guy. This thread is for experimental patch discussion. If you don't have anything nice to say, go to reddit.

It's not even about a realism argument here.. If you understand how the game mechanics behind unconsciousness work, then you know that this timer really won't work. Getting hit in the head or shot with a bullet (or concussive damage from grenades, I believe), gives you a stat called "Shock".. If your "shock" level exceeds your blood level, then you become unconscious.. Your shock level promptly begins to fade, and if your shock level no longer exceeds your blood level, then you become conscious again. If you drop below 600(?) blood, you have an increasing chance to go unconscious. So.. If you get shot, and you're losing blood, and your blood drops below 600, then you may never wake up without medical attention. If you get shot (or punched) and somehow you aren't bleeding, or you're healthy enough to be regenerating some blood, or the shot was "minor", you have a chance of returning to consciousness. So, see.. It's not as simple as "you got hit with X you will be out for Y seconds".. There are a bunch of variables behind it. The fact that you can go unconscious for 30 minutes is realistic and will allow people to come assist you (bandage you and give you saline, blood bags, or food/water), but without external assistance, you will not normally return to consciousness. Then there's times where you just take a minor blow, take some shock damage, and go out.. In these cases unless the person finishes you off or you're bleeding profusely, you have a good chance to survive. I don't see why you would need a timer.. Just click "respawn" if you wait for longer than 2 minutes or so. If you don't return to consciousness after a minute or two, odds are you won't unless someone heals you. That said.. I will sometimes get into gunfights with people, knock them unconscious with a shot to the body/leg, then patch them up, handcuff them, and treat them... So don't be quick to bail out on your character either. http://www.twitch.tv/etherimp/c/5323404 Here's an example of the "Serious" kind of unconsciousness being treated.

I has a glow-plug. Open to trade offers.

I don't think he was cheating or glitching or anything. I think there was desync going on and that room was not his "actual" location, or possibly it wasn't your actual location either, and when you hit the building/wall with your axe it updated the locations and he disappeared..

If it's a squeaker yelling for you to stop while you're already running through elektro/behind cover, it's not me.. My point was not to sound intimidating, but to be clear that some people actually KNOW how to hold others up, and don't do it if running/fighting is even an option. Example: If you just ran into the Barracks at Veresnik military base, and you're in the process of looting one of the rooms, and you hear a voice say "Please put your weapon down and come out with your hands up.." Your options are pretty slim.. There's 1 exit to the building, and it's being covered with a gun.. There's a long hallway which people from outside can see down, and there's windows in every room, but 1, that can be shot through. You either go into the bathroom and log out, resulting in death, or you attempt to run out of the building, resulting in death, or you hunker down in the barracks and try to fight, which puts you at a huge disadvantage. Another example: You're using a waterpump, and in mid "fill water", you get the same direction, to stay perfectly still, drop your weapon, put your hands up.. Again, your options are pretty slim.. you either try to run, or you try to fight, and any decent player is going to be able to kill you before you "cancel current action" -> stand -> run -> draw weapon.
-
If I hold you up, it's best if you just surrender.. I'll probably give you something you need/want.. And if you don't need/want anything, you'll keep your fleshy bits. If you run/fight, you'll soon find yourself on a beach, surrounded by stones to search for... because if I'm telling you to put your hands up you're probably trapped, or in an exposed position, and I didn't play Counter-Strike for 7+ years competitively because I'm bad at hitting moving targets. :D

You can probably build a 2nd tier PC (A step or two down from top of the line) for about 800 bucks, assuming you don't need brand new monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc.

When this instance I described happened, there weren't many places I could have left it, so we checked around the entire area several times.. (the place I switched items, the place I logged out, the place I switched back).. Nothing. The gun was just gone.

Is this bug related to the items in hand being eaten by the server? I've had at least 2 instances where I got the "items stuck in hand" bug.. I would be holding, say, an SKS, switch to binocs, switch back to SKS, then TRY to switch to another item but the SKS simply won't leave my hands. Clicking X does nothing. Dragging dropping does nothing. Pressing hot keys does nothing.. So then I log out and log back in, and of course, SKS is just "gone".. No sign of it anywhere. I am assuming they are related?

I absolutely agree.. If you think about it, the Amphibia is most likely going to be used in relatively close quarter situations, and those are the exact situations where low recoil pays off, as you don't have time to recover your recoil and reacquire your target. I've got at least 2 kills with it in recent history and it's very effective, as it's basically a laser that can dump 10 rounds into a target extremely fast.

Found a snap loader for a blase also! I think it just got re-added.

So there ARE, in FACT, players in the Exp database RIGHT NOW that have M4's in their inventory?! :D That's good to hear.. It's unfortunate though that most of them are probably server hoppers/heli spawn campers, and who knows where their home server is or if they are even available to be ... uhh.. relieved.. of their prized possession. Even with M4's in existence though, I can't imagine what would be required to find Magpul handguard, a decent buttstock, and enough ammo/mags.. Mags/Ammo aren't THAT hard to find as I've come across quite a few since playing .58.. but I have yet to see a Magpul handguard, none the less one in pristine/worn condition. That said though, an M4 with a red dot or ACOG in good condition and with adequate ammo is still quite a force to be reckoned with.. Especially if you can find a Nato suppressor. (Which I've seen about 3-4 of.)
-
Okay, if you say they spawn I'll take your word for it, but so far nobody in the community has come forward since .58 and posted any videos/screenshots of an M4 or the other items listed. With as many content creators there are for DayZ you would think it would be posted somewhere.. Unless it's just EXTREMEEEELY rare to the point where nobody has found it.. Which is kind of cool, if that's the case. Edit: One reason I think they may not be spawning is because NONE of the M4 attachments (outside of optics and mag) seem to be available either.. Like, I haven't even see stray Badly Damaged Magpul hand-guards or anything of the sort. One would think those items would be randomly found (even if ignored or discarded) at heli crashes from time to time.

I do not have all the time in the world. I work 4 10's a week, and often OT on Fridays. The rest of my time I spend on forums, playing various games, keeping up on the UFC (watching events on Sat nights), and taking care of my real world responsibilities.. I do not feel like adding "UPDATE THE DAYZ WIKI" to my list of things to do. My only HOPE is that there are other people out there who are "in the know" enough to update the wiki so that people like myself who do not have time to do so can depend upon it.. But as Odin said, there's no OFFICIAL "source" for DayZ information outside of the devs twitter and status reports, but none of that covers "spawns" and what "is and isn't" in the game. I like you, I respect you, I enjoy most of the conversation that happens here in this thread and it was not my intention to disturb that or cause an argument. I am not trying to argue with you here. The point of my post was for INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY.. It was not a jab at the Devs or the game, or even the Wiki. I play a lot of the game and I wanted to get people to come to some kind of consensus as to what is and is not spawning. That's all.
-
That's a fallacious argument, plain and simple. Whether I vote or not has no bearing on what officials do, because they're all liars who are owned by bankers, oil executives, and weapons contractors. Whether I contribute to the Wiki or not does not excuse mistakes and fallacies written on said Wiki by people I have absolutely no control over. By your logic, if I failed to exist in this world to run around correcting other peoples mistakes, then their mistakes would be completely excusable. My brain hurts trying to even think like that.
-
Oh my god, you're telling me I'm being hyper-aggressive and then you're putting words into my mouth and undermining me 1. I didn't badmouth it. I said it WASN'T ACCURATE. That's a FACT which YOU ADMIT.. it's not BAD MOUTHING if it's TRUE. 2. I didn't QUOTE IT AS GOSPEL.. I USED IT AS REFERENCE. There's a difference. 3. I wasn't "Being a dick about my references to the Wiki".. No. I don't contribute to the Wiki. If I did, I would put things like "TO BE IMPLEMENTED" in big bold font on the BODY of the page, not hidden down in the "path" of the page.
-
There's no fucking argument! I used the Wiki as a "SOURCE" for a "LIST OF ITEMS IN THE GAME" because there IS NO OFFICIAL LIST. Please show me on the DayZ homepage where I can find a list of weapons and items? THERE IS NO OFFICIAL SOURCE. I acknowledge that the VSS and Red9 are NOT IN THE GAME.. They have not been implemented. I took several months off, so I figured maybe they were implemented while I was gone, I added them to the list for the sake of COMPLETION, as I was NOT AWARE that they were NOT IMPLEMENTED. I have said already that I would happily remove them if they are "not done".. This still DOES NOT address the issue with OTHER weapons and items NOT spawning. ps: You mean, right down at the bottom of the page where it shows the "path" to the folder? Yeah. That's really obvious. The BODY of the page says nothing about "To be implemented".
-
1. I know the Wiki is not associated with development. 2. I did not see any "disclaimer", and I see no disclaimer on the entire weapons page, or when clicking on the weapon link itself.. here: And here It doesn't say anything about it not being finished... 3. I am not "pointing fingers".. The wiki is wrong on many things. I know this and take the information there with a grain of salt. I am not expecting the VSS to spawn nor the Red9, as I have NEVER seen either of them in the game, but as I said to Hicks, the M4 and AK101, as well as grenades/flashbangs WERE finished at one point. They don't seem to be spawning on experimental, and if they are nobody has posted screenshot/video of it.
-
If you were on the 2nd level of a building it's possible you desynced, fell through the building, and died. It's been happening since release.
-
If you're referring to the VSS or the Red9, those items are listed by the Wiki.. If they are not done yet, then it's the Wiki that's misinformed and they are spreading misinformation. I was simply trying to make the list "complete". As far as AK101's, M4's, Grenades, and the associated attachments - I stated in my thread that if anyone has found these items, they should post some kind of "proof" of it. This is not me stating things as though they are facts, it's me stating things based on empirical evidence. Me saying "Nobody has found an M4 on experimental" is like a scientist saying "We haven't found alien life.".. There's no reason to believe it doesn't exist, just that we lack any evidence that it does. So.. Can you provide practical evidence/proof that those items actually ARE spawning? Like, a screenshot or video from Exp .58 showing someone with one? I'm open to the possibility that I simply have not found these things. Edit: Furthermore, if you tell me what weapons are not done (I am assuming VSS and Red9), I'll happily remove them from the list.. M4, AK101, And grenades however I know have been available in previous patches.
-
Nope. No AK101's or M4's spawning recently. Until someone provides a screenshot/video, they've yet to be found on Experimental. AKM, AK74, AK74su, AUG, MP5, UMP, Rak, Longhorn, Mosin, SKS, Blase, Trumpet, Sporter, CR rifle, CR pistol, IZH, shotgun, pump shotgun, sawed off pump shotgun, FNX45, Magnum, Amphibia, Crossbow, P1 pistol, 1911, 1911 Engraved, Derringer, Repeater, Winchester, Landmine, Beartrap, and SVD, are all spawning (confirmed) along with the following attachments: NATO Suppressor, Suppressor East, all varieties of AK attachments (Minus the folding buttstock), Pistol Silencer, Pistol Flashlight, ACOG Scope, RV1 RDS, M68 Red Dot, Crossbow Sight, Hunting Scope, BUIS, MP5 Compensator, Mosin Compensator, MP5 Hand guards and Buttstocks, PU Scope, Annnd finally the Kashtan scope. Weapons not confirmed spawning: M4, VSS, Red9, Grenade, Flashbang, RDG grenade, along with the following attachments: AK Folding Buttstock, PSO Scope (It spawns on the SVD, but can no longer be found in regular loot locations), M4 Buttstocks of any kind, M4 hand guards of any kind, FNP MicroRed Dot, M4 Carryhandle Optics and absolutely NO Bayonets (AK, M9A1, M91, SKS). If you or anyone else can provide proof of any of these weapons spawning on experimental I encourage you to post it here and/or on Reddit. See Reddit Thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/3fdviw/a_list_of_all_of_the_weaponsattachments_spawning/

Heli crashes ARE persistent, but they get cleaned up after approximately 4 hours, and replaced with another random one. I am assuming this cleanup does not happen if players are within "X" meters.

My favorite experience in the mod was during 1.7.7.1, when Infection rates were around 75% and Antibiotics were extremely rare.. usually only 1-2 spawning on a server at any given time. I remember travelling all around the map looking for anti-biotics just to keep from dying, and every day SideChat was filled with people begging for help. This is when heroes really shined.
-
I was a hero in the mod.. I'm not exactly hunting around for people to kill (usually).. Sometimes I'll avoid trouble, other times I'll look for it.. Sometimes I'll help the person I just shot unconscious, and sometimes I'll open up with a conversation, while other times I'll hold someone up.. I usually go with my gut, and unfortunately my gut usually tells me to just not risk it.

For every "innocent" player I've killed, I've killed 20 assholes that had it coming. You know what they say... Want to make an omelet, gotta break some legs. It is legs, right? I'm not sure why everyone loves omelets so much. Kneecaps aren't exactly tender or flavorful.
