game needs a patch with something to do

Well, since you ask.. You may lie in order to impress people on the internet. In case you weren't aware, only about .00001% of the population has an IQ that high. In fact, most tests in existence can't accurately test up to 180, so whoever told you your IQ was 179 was probably full of shit... or you just took a really bad online test.

    What are we actually testing?

    You're testing the game.

Why lie about your IQ? It's not impressive anyway.

game needs a patch with something to do

Game has only been out .. what.. 2-3 weeks, and you're already bored? The first week the game was out, it was updated 3 times.. There is an update coming next week some time, and after the boys get back from their holiday vacations there will probably be updates quite often.. I am sure your boredom will pass.

Feeling naive on my "no KoS" policy

Not everyone who carries an M4 or a Mosin is a "threat".. They only become a threat if they are pointing it at you. Keep in mind, people often play from whatever position they find themselves in at the moment.. If you get the drop on someone, 9 times out of 10 they will cooperate with you and be friendly.. If they get the drop on you, 9 times out of 10 they will just shoot you on sight. Which do you think is the more skillful and entertaining way to play a game based on survival and emergent human interaction? Shooting a guy in the back, or having the balls to try to talk to him? If you shoot him, you never learn whether or not he was friendly or not.. you just assume the worst. If you talk to him, he may very well be a dick, but then you can still shoot him later. It takes skill to put yourself in the best positions possible, and even the best players in the game get killed and lose their gear. As Karma eluded to (post above mine), Friendships in this game are much more valuable than gear. Remember, it is the duty of the strong to protect the weak, not subjugate them.
  6. All clothing including helmets provide some level of damage protection, though it's difficult to prove this or get hard numbers without a debug monitor.
  7. Another feature which I would like to see implemented is the ability to "rotate" objects to fit into your inventory.

    Just a rant.

You're such a badass.. As much as I'd love proving that you're an inadequate twit who's time would be better spent developing social skills outside of a video game, by joining whatever server you're on and handing you your ass in glorious style; I don't spend time in Balota. I find it's for fresh spawns and the incompetent try-hards who bully them. I'm neither, so I really have no reason to be there.

    The value of a character

I have a different take on this idea... Make books valuable.. Maybe in Garages, you could find "An Introductory Guide to Mechanics", and by "using" this book, you could then unlock the ability to repair vehicles.. Maybe in Hangers, you could find "An Advanced Guide to Aircraft Mechanics", and you could unlock the ability to repair aircraft.. Maybe in Hospitals, you could find Medical books, which upon using would give you the understanding to give transfusions and use more advanced medical treatments, such as Defibs, etc. Maybe you could find Survivalist guides in survivor camps or tree stands which would allow you to craft traps, or other survival type items out of common household stuff.. Maybe in Schools, you could rarely find any one of the books above.. Maybe there could be additional books with more advanced training to be taken from them. Maybe every character could start with a random "ability" pre-learned, to reflect their background.. maybe it could give you hints to this background in your journal. Maybe ANY character could have some limited ability to do any of this stuff, but with a high chance of failure... so if you attempt to repair a vehicle engine but you're unsure of your characters skill level in this area, you could potentially destroy the engine in the process of repairing, and thus waste valuable time/resources.. Maybe without medical knowledge you could actually make someones condition worse by treating them.

    Persistence of dropped gear

Sometimes items can also appear on the other side of a wall, if you are near one.. For example, if you're standing in a garage, you could drop your backpack and not be able to find it.. go outside of the garage and it may be there on the side of the building.

    Anyone else bored?

Unless you have the following, ALL IN PRISTINE CONDITION, then you don't "have everything" 1. Mosin w/ Pristine Bipod, Pristine Scope OR M4 with Pristine Scope, M4 Magpul Buttstock, Bipod, Magpul foregrip, and 2 30 Rd (Coupled) Magazines. 2. Pistol w/ Pristine Red Dot Sight and at least 2 backup clips of ammo. 3. Ammo Box Full w/ Ammo, inside of a Pristine Protective Case 4. Medikit with Saline bags, Syringe, Antibiotics, Alcohol, Charcoal tabs, Bandages, (Blood test kit / Tested your blood), Morpine, EpiPen, and Painkillers. 5. Hunting or Mountain Backpack, 4 Slot Shirt, 8 Slot Vest, 6 Slot Pants, Boots/Shoes, Optional Hat, Glasses, and Mask, w/ Melee Weapon of choice. All Clothing items must be of the same color scheme.. IE - Green, Brown, Black, Blue, whatever.. 6. Pristine Compass, Full map, Can Opener, Canteen, Flashlight/Headtorch/Lantern 7. At least 1 set of Pristine Handcuffs w/ Keys. 8. At least 5 cans of food, for survival on a long trek. Collect all of that stuff on a full server, survive, and explore the map in less than 1 day... THEN talk to me about being bored.

Have you ever looked under the skirt of a zed?

Gee, this idea never occurred to me.... ...Maybe because I'm not a FUCKING FREAK.
  13. Actually, it's not human nature to be cold hearted and ruthless. It would probably be MUCH different in a real apocalypse. The difference here is... 1. Anonymity, 2. No real consequences, 3. No emotional investment. At the end of the day, DayZ characters are just a collection of pixels being controlled by a person you do not know. It's much more difficult to take a life or hurt someone when you can look in their eyes.

    Should beards be in DayZ?

I like the pony-tail length suggestion for women .. amazing idea.

Does this make me a bad guy?

You pulled a Zimmerman. "Stand your ground"

The M4 sound is very bad, along with the ballistics

The only time I've had success at range with the M4 is.. Pristine Bipod Pristine M4 MAGPUL Buttstock Pristine M4 MAGPUL foregrip Pristine ACOG Optics Test Lay Prone, deploy bi-pod, look down ACOG.. Good up to about ~250 meters.. Any further and you're lucky to hit 1 out of 3.

    Meet the Hero

A few things: -Tactical Vest > Assault Vest.. -Beige Ballcap > Black ballcap -White Running Shoes > Jungle/Military Boots (Whichever you're wearing in that pic) Otherwise, well done.

    Should beards be in DayZ?

It wouldn't be too difficult to implement. Day 3 of being alive: You have scruff. Day 7 of being alive: You have some minor growth Day 14 of being alive: You have a beard Day 21+: Your beard gets longer and longer. At any point you could shave it off using Razors, with a chance of cutting yourself and/or getting infected if you don't disinfect your razors or if the razors are not "pristine"

    Medical advice

Defibs revive unconscious players who are downed from "shock", which is what happens when you get hit/shot. Vitamins increase your resistance to illness and stall the progression of illnesses. (such as being sick/infected) Syringes are used to take blood, or inject medicine from the Injection vial. The Injection vial (AFIAK) is a type of antibiotic, although I have never personally tested it.

    Just a rant.

You expected a fair fight, but how fair is it for you to camp and kill people who have no weapons? Doesn't sound very fucking fair to me. Sounds to me like you're a hypocrite who cries "I WANT A FAIR FIGHT" when you get killed, but have no regard for how others feel when you kill them unfairly. DIAF.

    Gas station ambush! 4v2

pro use of sniper rifles vs unarmed players.
  22. Etherimp

    Just a rant.

I also feel that even if the guy did Ghost in to kill you, what he did was probably for the betterment of the server.. It's a real pain in the ass trying to gear up when you keep spawning in Cherno/Balota area, and the only place to get decent gear is being camped by some jerk who gets off on shooting at unarmed players. Want a hint? If you want action, go up to Zelenogorsk, then Green Mnt, then Veresnik Military base, then NWAF, then back again.. Normally you will get into an assortment of confrontations and/or die somewhere along your journey. If that's what you're keen for, don't sit around camping unarmed players.
  23. If you are healthy, why would you take Anti's/charcoal? It's possible that the healing items simply set your health status to the final stage of whatever sickness, and then work themselves out from there, in which case you're right and it would be a bug. That hasn't been my experience though.
  24. Etherimp

    Just a rant.

Ever consider the possibility that maybe the guy just logged out on the same roof you were logged in on, and upon logging in saw you sitting there, freaked out and killed you? Maybe he didn't ghost at all. Either way, you're lame for camping Balota. So sorry you lost your precious gear. QQ. Go back to CoD.

HAHAHAHA Oh geez, look who's playing:

Maybe if he didn't stay in 3rd person 90% of the time and go full auto, he wouldn't die in a "straight up shoot out".
