What was your Zeroing set to?
-
Because it's a variable that we cannot account for. I know for a fact that the following items improve your accuracy: -BiPod -Magpul Buttstock -Magpul Foregrip -ACOG Scope (for the sheer fact that it's a scope) Since the Silencer and the Bayonet do not actually do anything right now, it's pointless to use them, and they only add additional variables which could (potentially) be throwing off your accuracy.

Should I invest my time in 1st Person Servers?
Etherimp replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
Not everything is realistic, obviously.. But being able to see around corners/over walls is NOT something a game based on realism should support. Please realize this IS a FANTASY (zombies are not realistic) game, and there should obviously be a balance struck between realism and playability... We don't need everything to be 100% realistic, but again, wallhacking should not be an accepted aspect of the game. It encourages people to just camp on a roof laying prone, or stand behind a wall at the end of a road and wait for unwitting players to run by. Also, I am sure it would be possible for them to allow you to go 3rd person when inside vehicles, but not outside.. -
Should I invest my time in 1st Person Servers?
Etherimp replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
So, in a game based on realism and survival, it's totally realistic to wallhack using 3rd person perspective, right? I have used it, because it's part of the game, but I have no problem with Third Person being removed, EXCEPT in the case of driving vehicles, because TBH driving a vehicle in DayZ without third person is an exercise in futility. -
Didn't read your entire post, but I will comment anyway because I have a lot of experience with the M4A1.. Steps to make sure your M4 is accurate: -Make sure all your parts are in Pristine condition. -Make sure you are not using damaged ammo/mag. -Do not use a silencer. -Do not use a Bayonet -DO use a Pristine Bipod. -DO use a pristine ACOG scope or a pristine RDS, if you prefer. -DO Unbind "hold breath" from your RMouseButton to something different. -DO use MAGPUL buttstock and MAGPUL foregrip. -DO NOT use CQB ButtStock. -Make sure you are "healthy", or at least not in pain, infected, sick, etc.. (IE - make sure you're in good health.) -Make sure you are not breathing heavy. -Laying prone is not always possible, but if it is, do so.. And deploy your BiPod by right clicking it in your inventory. -Press the "hold breath" button you have bound the instant you fire, and let go the instant your shot is fired. I have consistently hit Zeds at over 300 meters using this method. My buddy was testing this same setup against zeds at 500 meters and was hitting every shot. All of that being said.. The bullet dispersion on the M4 is currently shit.

Should I invest my time in 1st Person Servers?

Unlike EVE Online, DayZ has no HiSec space. -
It's a known bug. Been reported on bug tracker. It's happened to myself a minimum of 4 times.

It's ~20000 units of energy.. not 40,000. But otherwise, you are correct.. In my experience, the best thing you can do upon starting out to get healthy status ASAP is to find a full bag of rice.. Eat the entire bag, then spam a water fountain until it says you're full.. After your stomach has emptied a bit, you should be really close to healthy. Drink a few sodas, eat a couple cans of beans, maybe drink a few more from a canteen, and you should be good.

Zelly (Zelenogorsk) was my hub in DayZ Mod. I found it was a good place to help bambies who were too weak for NWAF but strong enough to make their way off the coast.. First week or so of the SA it was pretty good, but now it's more active with bandits traveling north from Balota and Kamenka up to the Military Base at Veresnik and NWAF.. I think something needs to be done about this. The life I am currently on I headed to Berezino and NEAF to gear up, and I think I'll head over to NWAF.. If I survive that I'll make my way back down to Zelly, fully geared, and ready to put up some resistance against the bandit gangs.

"OooOOhh" - "That hurts..." Player groaning
Etherimp replied to Rednightjoe's topic in General Discussion
The pain sound is bugged.. Painkillers are what you would normally use to treat it, but if you log out and back in, it goes away.. and since there's no "screen shaking" from pain, that's all that matters.. I still take the painkillers just for the realism aspect. -
Should I invest my time in 1st Person Servers?
Etherimp replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
I mostly agree with this.. I played at high levels in Quake 2 Instagib, and Counter-Strike 1.6 and CS:Source.. DayZ, CoD, and Battlefield are filled with a bunch of entitled whining pussies. Only the very very best CoD or BF3/4 players could even hold a candle to the AVERAGE competitive CS or Quake player. DayZ players are 90% scrubs. More on topic.. I have seen several 1st Person Only servers with 20-35 people on them. -
What, exactly, is the point of this game?

No.. but you can blame their parents. -

This thread is proof that the DayZ community is full of whiney, entitled C-U-Next-Tuesdays. -
Is anyone else experiencing this? I spawn in with high desync pretty much no matter what server I join, and after a minute or so the desync chills out, but then I am often left with lag when I try to switch weapons, pick things up, open doors, or interact at all with the world. Even with 20 ping and 0 Desync, I still have this issue. This issue pretty much disappears on low-pop server (say, 0-15 people..?) On servers with 30+, I experience horrible delay on everything. Also, have been experiencing the occasional rubber-banding, and not just a few meters, but across an entire map, back to the point I spawn, and then freezing in place. Is this something everyone is experiencing or just me?
-
Well, in it's current state I don't think the game is ready for 40 player servers.. Anything over 20-25 and it seems to lag incredibly bad.. Although possibly a little better with the new patch.

In my opinion, the current compass is an example of over-design.
Etherimp replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in General Discussion
There's really no difference between clock face and compass.. Both require you and your friends be facing the same direction and depending on how close the target is, requires you be relatively near to one another. Best way to communicate combat instructions is coords combined with succinct descriptions of landmarks. -
How far away is the big hill to Balota jail
Etherimp replied to PwnCaiks101's topic in General Discussion
Get a map. Each square is 100meters. Enjoy. -

Etherimp replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in General Discussion
Yup. Your example looks nice. No doubt. Furthermore, I didn't bother reading 2.5 pages of text about a compass. I just skimmed the topic to see if anyone mentioned viewing the compass from your inventory.. which nobody did.. So I offered some advice, at which point you turned into a dick. Sorry for the misunderstand. -
I'm not a Balota bandit either, but it is possible to get engaged in extended fire fights, especially if you're working with and/or against a team. Also, I often execute zombies with my M4, so having a backup clip is handy, in case shit hits the fan.

1. Compass needles wobble around if you're running.. You can't just jog at a steady clip with 50lbs of gear on your back (I am estimating roughly, probably more.), and be able to discern what the compass reads, AT ALL. 2. The more gear you're carrying the more you're going to bounce when jogging.. Clearly you've never been hiking with a full pack. 3. Pressing tab is pretty much instantaneous... "0 time" was a bit of an exaggeration, but you get my point. 4. You're welcome, smart ass.. now stop griping about the compass. -
Personally, I carry 2 full 60Rd mags, 1 in gun, 1 in vest, and a box full of stanag (300 rds). I think 2 mags is pretty essential.

Etherimp replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in General Discussion
Ever tried looking at a compass while you're running over terrain with 50 lbs of gear on your back? Furthermore, pressing tab takes 0 time at all, and mousing over your compass takes very little time at all.. It's used as a quick reference to make sure you're still on your bearings, or to double check which direction you're facing.. -

I am going to put this argument to rest... Press Tab -> Mouse over Compass -> Look at the direction the arrow is pointing on the "Mouse over" icon of the compass Try it for yourselves...
