    The KOS conundrum, problem/solution.

There were a few aspects of the former humanity system which were "wrong".. I will outline it below.. 1. If you were a hero, it encouraged you to maintain your hero status, which was good... however, you could often be tricked by survivors who just wanted to jack your shit, and whether they shot you first or not, you would be punished for killing them even if you had to in self defense. 2. If you were a survivor, you could maintain survivor status by doing banditry, so long as you gave it some time between each act, or so long as you were not the actual person doing the killing.. for example, you could run around with a group of 3 bandits, and bait heroes into your traps. 3. If you were a bandit, everybody shot you on sight.. bandits, heroes, and survivors alike, so it didn't exactly encourage you to change your ways.

    The KOS conundrum, problem/solution.

I don't think you can add a lot of artificial and often arbitrary "punishments" for KOS.. People KOS for a variety of reasons. Sometimes I will KOS, most times I will not. Times I will KOS -I see someone who is armed (gun) and is wearing a Payday mask.. Yes, as silly as it is, I feel payday masks are picked up and used by people who want to look "scary".. If you want to look scary or intimidating then I feel you are the type of person who will shoot on sight anyway, so I won't give you the benefit of the doubt. -Fully military geared with gasmasks and camo... People don't get geared up for PVP unless they are looking for PVP... Just like survivors don't don Ghillie Suits and sit on sniper hill in the mod unless they are looking to shoot freshspawns. Not to say everyone who wears military gear will kill you on sight, but it's better to be safe than sorry. -When I find server hoppers/ghosters at NWAF. -When I see fully geared players on the coast. (Balota, elektro, etc.).. If you're still on the coast and you're fully gear, odds are you're looking to kill fresh spawns. This may not always be the case (RhinoCrunch and his crew help fresh spawns), but again, better to be safe, than sorry. So, you see, I have been conditioned by my environment to kill certain people on sight. If I see a survivor wearing civilian clothing and carrying a mosin on his back, I will probably approach him (cautiously) and talk to him, ask him if he needs any help.. And I have had others do the same for me. The problem is not that the game. The problem is the community. People want something to do and they want to use their guns. The way to "Fix" the KOS problem is to show the community through example how rewarding it can be to play as a hero. Youtube: The Green Avenger DayZ, and you will laugh hysterically and it will make you want to take a similar approach. Watch RhinoCrunch's series on "Surviving DayZ Standalone", and he does some really cool things for fresh spawns. These kinds of players/youtubers are good for DayZ, and if you want to fix the KOS "problem", the only way to do so is through your own actions. Another thing is.. Once Vehicles and other "end game" content are put in the game, groups of players will be required to get things done.. Usually this will just be players who have been playing together since the Mod (like my community) helping each other out and shooting outsiders.. There's nothing particularly wrong with this, as you still have people cooperating, and competition and rivalries arise, which brings a lot of action to the game.. keeps people playing if they're always trying to get one over on the competition. TLDR: Before you preach about fixing the game, realize it's the community that has the KOS problem, not the game.. then realize that in order to change the community you have to change yourself first, and inspire others through your actions.

how many of you would kill this player.

1 shot from a magnum = insta kill.. If you have the ammo, kill him and take his gun. If you do not have the ammo, try talking to him.

    Make drab/dark/green/camo clothing more rare?

funny... I avoid the green clothing because it is what everyone wears.. I prefer either a hero outfit (White check shirt + Bluejeans), black clothing (Black Cargo pants + Black Tactical Shirt), or Brown clothing (Brown Hunter Pants + Tan Tactical Shirt or Brown Hoodie). While bright colors DO stand out, there are plenty of non-military dark/drab colors in the game.. That said, I would like to see a greater variety of clothing and I wouldn't mind if they reduced the spawn rates of military camo by quite a bit.

Where in the United States is murder 1-5 years in prison? Murder is a mandatory 25 years to life, or possibly the death penalty in some states.

    Dayz Standalone DDoS attacks

You're an idiot. Take that to the bank, and cash it.. For the Lulz. DDoS attacks cost companies money, and that "bill" is ultimately passed on to the customer, which is all of us. They have no "cause", no "code", no "honor", no "respect", no "logic", no "reason".. They're just doing it because they're bored and on a power trip. With great power comes great responsibility.. It is the duty of the strong to protect the weak, not subjugate them.. And what do these kids do with their knowledge/power? They harass other people for "Lulz". They're cowards, and if they DO get picked up and charged and put in prison, guess what? They're going to be pissing themselves like the dogs they are. You find that "hilarious"? Grow up.

Accuracy comparison: DayZ vs ARMA 2

Sorry, but I have to call you out on bad argument/logic. In ARMA 2, you are a civilian playing as a soldier. In DayZ, you are a civilian playing as a civilian. In both cases, you are a person playing a game as someone/thing else.. There is no "backstory" for your character when you spawn in.. You do not know if the person who washed up on the shore of Cherno was trained with weapons or not.. Maybe he was a farmer, who shot at packs of wolves to protect his livestock.. Maybe he was a hunter, who has got a perfect Heart Shot on a running Buck at 200m with a Lee Enfield.. Maybe he was ex-military and served in a local conflict.. Maybe he was police or a security officer who was trained in urban combat. See, the only determining factor for WHO your character is is WHO you are, and how you play that character.. I played Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike Source competitively for 7+ years, and all told, I have about 17 years of First Person Shooter experience. Why should my character have artificially horrible aim, even though I do everything right, as a player? If I know how to lead my shot, why should the game artificially compensate for my skill with some arbitrary random number to make me miss? That's absolute bullshit and it does not encourage good gameplay. It encourages people to just spray as many bullets as possible at as close of range as possible and hope they hit, rather than encouraging people to learn how the guns work and how to shoot accurately. Furthermore, if the game is supposed to be REALISTIC, then the guns should have REALISTIC dispersion and bullet drop and muzzle velocity.. Which it DOESN'T. You can train a skinny, nerdy, 12 year old boy from the suburbs how to accurately fire an M16 and consistently hit a target at 200 meters. We know this, because it's been done.. And what is that boy, if not a civilian? Hell, when I was 10 years old I was shooting a 50lb compound bow and grouping arrows together in about a 4 inch diameter around the bullseye of a target around 30 yards away. That's more accurate than any of the pistols in the game currently fire, and I WAS TEN YEARS OLD FIRING AN ANTIQUATED WEAPON WHICH IS BY ALL ACCOUNTS LESS ACCURATE THAN A .45 CAL PISTOL.

    Instant Death Glitch, CONFIRMED.

One final bump, just for awareness.
  11. This is true. My buddies and I (about 3-5 of us) at one point had control over all 4 helicopters on the map.. Our base NEVER got raided after that, except by ESP hackers. Once you have heli's, you have complete map control. You can loot every heli crash before anyone else.. you can hit and run every military spawn on the map, you can hunt people down, you can find every vehicle, etc.
  12. In DayZ mod there were 4 Helicopters on the map. 1 Huey 1 Mi17 1 Black Littlebird 1 Silver Littlebird I'd say 4 helicopters is pretty rare, especially with how resource expensive they are..

    Instant Death Glitch, CONFIRMED.

    Bump for justice.
  14. Ah yes.. Currently the Fisty Sprint is pretty bullshit. Hope they fix that soon.
  15. Someone sounds butthurt that they never got vehicles.
  16. I think the map seems smaller because people are only populating certain areas.. Balota, Kamenka, Zelly, Veresnik Military base, NWAF..
  17. SA map is actually bigger. Vehicles will be fine.. and they aren't as much of a death sentence as some people are saying. Just avoid high traffic areas, or be prepared to defend yourself if you are in high pop areas. I rode around in a White Offroad or Military Offroad for the majority of my time in the mod.. Got shot at a few times, and usually just pulled off the road and killed the guy who shot at me and proceeded along my way. Only once was my tire ever shot out, and that was at NWAF and I was driving ON the airstrip, in the middle of a massive firefight with several parties involved. Only other time I've lost my vehicle due to driving around was when I picked up a fresh spawn and bloodbagged him.. he tried to take off in my offroad and I lit it up with an M16A4 ACOG, and blew it up with him in it.

I think if you stand up on the top level of the inside of firestation tower for long enough, it may just happen.. we'll see. But at least it's been confirmed now.

    Instant Death Glitch, CONFIRMED.

You can always fight off zombies and you can predict when they are coming. Furthermore, the DayZ dev team KNOWS about zombies walking through walls. They do not necessarily know about this issue. This death glitch instantly kills your character without you having any say in the matter. I'd say that's pretty fucking pressing. Just go to the bug tracker and "vote up" if you have experienced this before. If you haven't, then keep your opinions on the matter to yourself. Thanks.

    So Restraining . . . not helping

Some of us actually like to play as though our life is more important than just our gear.. Some of us enjoy being able to say "I survived through this.." or "This character has been alive X many days."

    FNX45 = More Accurate then M4A1?

On an ACOG Scope the first line is supposed to be 100m.. 2nd 200, 3rd 300, etc. If you had your Zeroing set higher than 100, it could throw off your aim. Furthermore, the ACOG scope is supposed to be zoomed to 4x, But right now it's not.. It's something they are going to fix. not sure if this plays a role on how the lines work or not, or if they are even 100% accurate at the moment.
