    Right, and I don't mind it too much with the 1911 vs the FNX, because some people (like myself) will carry the 1911 for the fact that it's an iconic weapon, rather than optimizing myself for PVP.. A few "samey" weapons doesn't bother me, but the mod had a bunch of different weapons which were all effectively the same, except 1 or 2 of them were clearly "better", which meant people just used the best and nobody ever bothered with the crappier variants.

    So, having 10 different assault rifles which all fire 5.56 will do what, exactly? You find an assault rifle...You hunt down 5.56 mags, or vice versa. See FNX vs 1911 argument from above. Except the difference between pistols is even greater than the difference between Assault Rifles, because most assault rifles can use the same mags.

    This is alpha. There are only a few weapons available and new clothing is being added all the time. Honestly, with every patch I'm seeing people using more and more variety in their outfits.. TTSKO will always be popular, as will ballistic helmets.. Because certain people attempt to optimize their look for PVP. Adding more weapons than necessary will not really have any impact on people gearing up the same. The Mod had SEVERAL "samey" weapons, but most people carried a DMR. The MK Mod was also really popular, and sometimes you'd see people with a M16 ACOG. Having 100 weapons won't change peoples preferences. There's really no point in having several weapons which all fill the same role or have similar mechanics. Why have 10 different bolt action sniper rifles, when you can have 2 (A civilian and a military grade), and both of them can be heavily modified with attachments? What's the practical difference between two weapons which fire the same caliber, have the same scope, and the same rate of fire? It's not going to change the fact that people will hunt down the best weapons for whatever fits their playstyle. For example.. Why have an M16 and an M4 when both weapons are effectively the same? Just have 1 in the game, and allow us to modify it with different attachments. Makes more sense. Another example is the M1911 vs the FNX 45. The M1911 has 7 round mag. The FNX has 15. The M1911 can mount a flashlight. The FNX can mount a flashlight, a red dot, and a silencer. The M1911 and FNX have similar rate of fire. The M1911 and FNX fire the same ammo. (and thus, the same damage.) The M1911 and FNX have similar accuracy. So why would anyone ever use an M1911 over a FNX?

    I HATE playing 3rd person servers.

    This thread again?? Listen.. If you don't like 3rd person servers... DONT PLAY ON THEM. That's why the game has a "Hardcore" mode. If you like 1st person only, play on those servers.. I support you in this decision. Furthermore, I'm sick of people complaining about people "abusing 3rd person". It's in the game. It's a viable strategy. It's a little "cheap", but the fact is that anybody can do it, so it's not "cheating". IF you don't want people using 3rd person perspective to look over walls, play on Hardcore. If Dean decided to change DayZ to 100% hardcore servers, I'd be all for it.. But until that happens, people are always going to "abuse 3rd person" and 3rd person servers will always be more popular.

    The DMR is just an M14 with a long range optics and a bipod and after-market stock. For SA: Add M14, make it capable of mounting RDS, LRS, and BiPod, and possibly a few different buttstocks... Personally, as far as SA goes, I would like them to streamline weapons.. There's no need to have 5 guns in the game that all serve the same purpose. For example, in the Mod there were a bunch of AK's, M16's, M4's, and a bunch of weapons which fired 5.56.. The practical differences between these weapons usually came down to what scope was mounted on it or whether it had a suppressor or not. 1 or 2 AK's with a bunch of different attachments. 1 M4 with a bunch of different attachments. 1 Double Barrel shotgun 1 auto-shotgun 1 pump action shotgun. the M14 with a bunch of attachments SKS Mosin Blase .22 sporter The CZ550 is kind of redundant with the Mosin.. Both are bolt action sniper rifles. The Mosin is basically a defacto M24, at this point.. Maybe add 1 more military grade bolt action rifle, like the SVD.. Maybe a few Sub Machine guns, like the Mp5 or P90 Maybe a few niche assault rifles, like possibly a bullpup. Think STREAMLINED.. too many people are pushing too many guns.. There's no reason to have 100 guns, when most of them are redundant in application.
  7. "sad" is an expression. I don't care if he wastes his time. Armed players start becoming a threat when they're a better player than you. My point is, I am not afraid of letting other people getting guns because I enjoy the competition and am not afraid of someone just because they have a gun. Most of the people in this game are scared little bitches in a straight up gun fight anyway... hence why they would spend hours of time hiding guns from other players.

    Bumpity! In this episode, I have a "neutral" 1 on 1 encounter with another player near Vybor, followed by a 2 man lockdown of Elektro to offer safe passage to friends and fresh spawns alike.

    Can You Take Blood From A PErson Who Just Died?

    I believe so. However this is dangerous because after someone dies I believe the blood type of the blood bag is tied to their character, so you could potentially kill your recipient. This needs more testing.
  11. I can tell you all from experience that the sounds in DayZ SA are screwed up.. I've done experiments on them with friends, and have video evidence of sounds coming from places other than the origin of the shot, as well as sounds not being registered at all by certain people, while being registered accurately by others. It's pretty much a crap shoot at this point. Don't go out buying 500 dollar headphones because of DayZ.. Not worth it. A 30-80 dollar set of headphones is just fine for DayZ.

Well, one of the things that this patch has done is made it so that anyone who is carrying 2 primary weapons has to either drop their weapon and fight off SEVERAL zeds with their melee weapon, OR resort to shooting the zeds, which in many cases is the more viable option. Last patch and every patch before it you generally wouldn't hear people firing off M4 rounds in a city unless they were shooting another player. Now, I've heard people shooting down zeds on many occasions and even been forced to do so myself. This makes finding other players easier.. and it makes gun fights much more frantic, as you now have to worry about being overwhelmed by zeds.. Looting bodies in high traffic areas becomes a real challenge/risk... Overall, I like it.
  13. I think it's sad because it's a waste of time... There are SO MANY weapon spawns on any given map, that finding and hiding any weapons is unlikely to have any impact at all on whether you're going to get shot or not. The only time I could see this tactic being viable is right after server start, if you're the first one in a busy town (like Elektro), and you happen to find a weapon before another fresh spawn does.. note: non-fresh spawns (geared players), already have weapons... So the only person you're hiding it from is someone who likely isn't a threat to you unless you already have a weapon. It's also kind of sad because IF you already have a gun, then you shouldn't be afraid of people with guns.. Because you should be able to out-shoot them. Personally, when I show up in a busy town, I am kind of hoping there are people around and I kind of hope they have guns, since I avoid shooting fresh spawns unless it's necessary, and I do enjoy a good gun fight. Much more sporting when you're shooting someone who can shoot back.
  14. Kind of pointless hiding the ACOG... The ACOG pretty much sucks. RDS's are much better for the M4 in its current state.

    Did you not read my post on page 1? If not, I'll post it again for you... MPBR = Max Point Blank Range.. this is the maximum range you can fire a round before it begins to drop off/lose enough energy to make it non-lethal. It's wholly possible for a trained marksman to hit targets with a pistol at 100m... In a "realistic" fire fight, 25-50m's is a challenge, but again.. when relaxed, focused, healthy, uninjured, and concentrating... there's nothing unrealistic about a 100m shot.

    You shouldn't need Magpul parts to hit the broad side of a barn at 100 meters with an M4. Stock M4 parts are made with precision engineering for a reason.
  17. There are a lot of other businesses where people pay for something unfinished. What do you think investors are? If any of those scenarios happened to DayZ, you would still have no right to complain. You're not paying for a finished game. You paid 30 dollars for an ALPHA game.. You got exactly what was advertised. There was never any guarantee that the game would ever be finished or that you would ever get your monies worth. When you purchased DayZ through steam you agreed to that. If you don't think Early Access should exist, then why are you here, playing an early access game?
  18. Here's the thing... ...YOU agree to spending your money on an early access Alpha. If I started an Early Access Alpha because I had an idea for a game, you know how much money I would make? NONE.. because the market has no confidence in my ability to make a video game. My game would never get finished (or started), I'd make no money, and anyone who was stupid enough to invest in me would lose money for being stupid. DayZ is being developed by Rocket and Bohemia.. These companies have a reputation and people know that they can make successful and/or good/quality games. This means that people invested their dollar based on their confidence. If you lack confidence or are opposed to forking over money for an unfinished product, then nobody is forcing you to. For you to come to forums complaining about it is just childish. Some companies do early access and fail. .Their game goes down the drain and the community gets pissed that they spent money on an early access game. At least Bohemia/Rocket is still making leaps and bounds on the game and they are (as of the time I post this), following through with their promises of improving the game. I've put over 300 hours into DayZ, and I spent 30 dollars on it. What other entertainment medium can you get such high ratios of dollar per hour enjoyment?
  19. 2 words: Good riddance. Also, the zombies move pretty fluidly.. If they stopped them from spawning right before my eyes, and made them obey the laws of physics when it comes to walls/floors/doors, I'd be happy.

    Pistol Magazines

    Yeah man, I wasn't trying to be a dick. A lot of people just say stuff like "such and such is impossible to find!" or "there aren't enough of ??? in the game!", when in reality, it's just the luck of the draw. It's also a matter of people who have already looted... Certain weapons and ammo types are more popular and more sought after, so while you may find 4 1911's, you may not find a single magazine for them because that 1 guy who had a 1911 already has already picked up all the mags.. Also, Mags in general are "useful" and they don't take up a lot of inventory space, so a lot of times people (myself included) will pick them up but leave the weapons behind, so I can share them with friends.

    Pistol Magazines

    I assure you this is your experience, and does not necessarily reflect the experience of others. On 1 life, I have found 4 magazines for the 9mm, 2 magazines for the .22, 1 magazine for the 1911, and 2 magazines for the FNX... not to mention a couple of speed loaders for the Revolver. But I haven't found a single 10 round clip for the SKS, which is what I currently have on the experimental.. Also haven't found any .22 mags for the sporter. Just sayin'... It's completely random.
  22. I'd much rather see better optimization, bug fixes, a fleshed out map, some weapon balancing (fixing), and more zombies before I even want to think about vehicles or bases. You guys are just impatient.

    1911

    The .22 pistol is actually fucking amazing.. It makes virtually no sound. Just a small "click". Edit: Also have a 1911.. It's nice. Haven't tried it in PVP yet tho.
