I don't see how that is a problem... Right now, everyone spawns east, so everyone runs to the high-value loot spawns on the east.. IE - Berezino, Svet, and NEAF.. Of course, not as many attachments and military loot, but with as few guns as are in the game, it hardly matters.. You can find an M4 or a Mosin in any of those cities. The only difference is you can only find scopes/attachments at NEAF, where as Balota has a higher quantity of spawns. But with that comes more risk... Currently, everyone just dukes it out in the NE area.. If they spread the spawns around the map more, people will not be able to run back to their bodies as easily. Recently I got into it with a 4 man clan in Berezino, and I literally made them all log out because I kept respawning right back into the thick of things.. First guy I shotgunned, second guy I KO'd with fist, then stole his M4 and killed his friend with it.. Stole a Mosin with a LRS and killed another guy with it.. Died and came back and kept harassing these same 4 guys with their own weapons. They had it coming, yes.. But it was pretty lame that I just kept spawning in the same spot over and over. Also lame that there are squads of 2-6 guys in full military gear running around Berezino because it's virtually the only place on the map where people actually go now. At least when there were spawns in Kamenka/Balota/Cherno, you had the entire west side of the map to loot and the encounters were spread out more. Granted, Balota was still the hot spot, but it wasn't nearly as densely populated as Berezino now seems to be. I vote they spread the spawns all across the coast, how the mod was.. Kamenka, Kamarovo, Balota, Cherno, Pik Kozlova, Prig, Elektro, Kamyshovo, Three Valleys, Solnichniy, Berezino, Rify, Svet, and Novy Sobor. This way the action is spread out and you ALWAYS have to be on your toes, and likewise, sometimes you will get a really good spawn and sometimes you will get a really shit spawn, but at least it will make it interesting.

There's a balance to survivability and action. If you follow the "silk road" between Balota and NWAF on a populated server, odds are you will run into people... and they'll likely be geared. Things get hairy/lame in Berezino/Elektro because it's hard to tell the difference between true fresh spawns who are innocent, and fresh spawns who are attempting to run back to the body of the guy you just killed who was indiscriminately killing fresh spawns.

According to what? Because I can tell you from experience there is.

Nope. There's definitely kinetic energy loss. Hitting an object, ricocheting, or firing over long distances will result in the bullet losing velocity and thus energy and damage will be reduced. All of this is "ported over" (so to speak) from the Arma3 engine. Watch the following video for some great examples of how it works. Here's another.. This one for DayZ. Yes, even with 7.62. A direct shot to the head will result in the item being destroyed and the damage being transferred to the head and thus, result in unconsciousness/death. A glancing shot MAY destroy the helmet and bounce off, doing minimal damage. Unfortunately I do not have the "proof" of this on-hand, but as far as I know it's been confirmed.
-
Not necessarily... Again, depends on the angle of the shot and the caliber of the round.. 22 will basically bounce off helmets.
-
...No logic in this post. Try to follow me on this one: 1. The higher the population of an area, the greater odds you'll be shot by another player.. 2. Berezino has the highest population lately, which means the odds of being shot there are the greatest. 3. Cherno is almost a ghost town.. very few people go there, which means you have very small chance of actually dying. So.. Why run 30 minutes? Because as soon as you get away from Berezino and the East Coast side of the map, your survivability increases dramatically and you have much better chances of getting considerably geared.
-
It depends on the angle of the shot, and how directly it hits your helmet; as well as the velocity and caliber of the round.

Nothing wrong with seriousness if it displays good play/skill.. I'd rather watch a few guys using good teamwork and good gunplay than a bunch of guys running around naked along the coast playing "Staying Alive" any day of the week. That stuff is only good for a chuckle and has been done so many times before.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLPlh_fdK_oFoiXkanzFx97oq01xo0VgV I try to post good footage, whether it contains a death or not. That said, I rarely die.. The character seen in the first few videos I had for about 6+ weeks.. Then another for ~2-3 weeks. Lately been dying a bit more but also got a lot of action, so take that for what it's worth. Not about to say I am the "best" DayZ player, but better than the majority of DayZ players, for sure. The first videos in that series are probably not as well edited as the later ones, as I've gotten better at picking out the quality footage and separating it from the boring stuff... so you may want to watch in reverse. :) I'm open to advice/criticism.

What if you have a nicer PC? What should your settings be and what FPS should you expect? A low-end PC? Here's a comprehensive guide.

Defib living players, shooting with handcuffs on, and quickdraw while surrendering
Etherimp posted a topic in Gallery
Kossuth and Etherimp test out Defibs on a living patient, Pacemaker learns how to quick-draw while surrendering, and Killshot develops a bad case of gas while handcuffed. -
I agree... The Mosin seems really weak now.. I thought it was 1-2 hits to kill, until this happened to me: Happens in the first 3 minutes or so.
-
Kossuth and I set up in elektro, and started hearing gunshots.. We find a squad of 4 is operating on the south side of town.. First I engage at 800meters with the Mosin, and after a kill or two, we move in together to breach the building they're camping in.. Enjoy!
-
Yeah, for sure.. Elektro is a bloodbath. Anywhere outside of Elektro, we try to be more "friendly" and approach people and communicate with them.. But in Elektro, if someone is geared you can pretty much assume they're in Elektro for PVP. I'm fine with Hardcore and we do play on hardcore servers from time to time, but our "home" server is 3rd person, so that's where we get most of the footage from, as it's not very interesting to watch a bunch of guys trying to find one another and gear up together. :)
-
I come home from work and Koss is in a server watching Elektro, when he spots a sniper behind him.. He takes 1 guy out, then starts taking fire from another. I log in to assist and flank his attacker.. Followed by sniping, followed by more flanking! Enjoy!

Put it back....lootable bodys after ten minutes
Etherimp replied to vipereye's topic in General Discussion
They could just make it so you can't loot your own body... but then what about your friends? They can just pull your loot off your body for you, and drop it on the ground.. I don't mind the "running back to your body" strategy, as it's usually very risky unless you died to a glitch or zombie, and you're somewhere near the coast... unfortunately that's also where the majority of the PVP takes place, currently. -
Uzi fits the region well.. MP5 is iconic and prolific, so that wouldn't surprise me either. Also, Uzi's are much cheaper, durable, and common. They're built similar to the AK in the sense that they are all pressed metal, where the MP5 is precision machined like the M4. MP5 has a lot of moving parts. Both will probably be in the game eventually, but my bets are on the Uzi.

Nope.. Just very familiar with Elektro, and the spot I am in. Edit: To clarify, I played DayZ mod for about 9 months before SA came out, then started playing SA on day 1.. I was never a huge sniper in either game, but I know that your max visual range is about 1000m, so you can roughly estimate how far a building is by how closely it falls into/out of that visual range. I've also sniped enough from that position that I know that the firehouse is 450-500, Memorial hill is about ~600, and anything behind that is 650-700 .. The house is on the other side of the road and they were inside of it and approximately in the back, so that's another few meters.. The top of the hospital is between 700-800 (front to back).. and the red house is approximately west of that.. So yeah, just experience/rough estimation.

Put it back....lootable bodys after ten minutes
Etherimp replied to vipereye's topic in General Discussion
THAT said.. I do think 10 minutes is a little short. A lot of fire-fights last more than 10 minutes. I think 1-2 hours would make more sense... Maybe have all the loot in someones inventory degrade over the course of the 2 hours, along with an increased amount of "fly" sounds around the body.. So for example... First 30 minutes, body is silent, gear is fine. Second 30 minutes, a few sounds of flies, gear degrades 1 level Third 30 minutes, more flies, body sinks 1/2 into the ground, gear degrades 2 levels. Last 30 minutes, heavy flies, body sinks 3/4 into the ground, gear degrades 3 levels After 2 hours, no more flies, body disappears, no gear left. -

Nice headshots. :D

Aegis is on board with the medics. You guys need anything, let me know.

Kind of tempted to log onto their server just to wipe them and give their gear away... ..But they'd probably just restart the server. That said, the video was done better than the others I've seen.. Much easier to watch without the music.
