Maybe you should re-read my post. I didn't say anything about how you SHOULD play the game. I said there are OTHER ways to play the game and interacting with players takes more skill than putting your crosshair over them and pressing mouse1.
-
No.. It's not the only way to play. It's just the only way you're able to play because you're bad. Sorry, but truth needs to be said. It takes skill to hold someone up. It takes skill to talk to someone and still control the situation and have no fear of getting shot. When you get tired of playing this game like it's deathmatch, you'll either go back to another FPS, or you'll get good enough where you can have player interactions without shooting people. Furthermore, in my 500+ hours of playing DayZ Standalone and >1000 hours of playing DayZ mod, I've only ever met 1-2 bandits that were actually good players.. as in, they could go better than 50/50 vs me.
-
I personally wouldn't, but I don't really need to.. I have a friend who doesn't play the game. He played maybe 3 hours, then hasn't touched it in several months. So theoretically I could use his account, and I am sure I am not an isolated example of that scenario. My point was that no matter what system people think they're going to come up with to prevent "EASY MODE RUNNING BACK AND GETTING FREE LOOTZ", someone out there will create a work around. Furthermore, as others in this thread have said, it's not even an issue. You actually have to STOCK tents.. Stocking tents requires looting. Looting can be dangerous. Furthermore, after you die, you actually have to run back to your tent, which as someone else mentioned isn't going to be 5 minutes from the coast.. It's going to be OUT OF THE WAY.. As in, you'd probably risk starving to death if you had to run to it directly from spawn. Furthermore, you have to run back under the pressure of other players potentially seeing you, following you, or just straight out killing you. Also, your tent can be robbed/smashed at any time.. Also, you don't have a map/compass or any other method of navigation (aside from DayZDB). Point being.. Stop your crying, people.

In before people start purchasing "storage accounts" 2 accounts 1 for action 1 for storage Action account drops loot where storage account stays, storage account logs in, moves loot into tents, logs out. Action account goes and dies, runs to where storage account stays, storage account logs in, removes gear from tents, drops on ground, action account logs back in and is fully geared. Stop trying to fix what's not broken. People will always find a way to game the system anyway.

Where are you going to find cocaine in the apocalypse? I don't think drug runners from Columbia will still be servicing Chernarus..Cigarettes and alcohol could be found in residentials though. Still.. why? I'm a smoker, and I don't see what purpose this would serve in game.

Point is, he's benefiting from being dishonest. You can mitigate the ramifications of that however you desire, but what I am saying is not "slander". 1. It's not oral, it's textual. 2. It's not false. You may not have a problem with him using cheats he purchased from hack sites which costs video game developers millions of dollars to counter-act which in turn those costs get passed on to the consumer, and they ruin the gaming experience of millions of gamers a year, but personally I find that pretty fucking disgusting and refuse to support it.

All youtubers produce entertainment, and only the ones with a lot of viewers get paid good money for it.. Frankie gets paid (last I heard) 5k pounds a month from his youtube videos.. and that was a while ago so the number is probably substantially higher by now. My point is that there are a lot of youtubers out there who create GOOD, WELL EDITED, QUALITY, ENTERTAINING CONTENT, but their content is overly scrutinized by the majority of the DayZ community because they AREN'T Frankie, and meanwhile Frankies fanbois will defend his actions regardless of how vile; including using hacks. So you're saying, it's okay that he lies and cheats and makes money doing it, as long as it's entertaining?
-
The Jersey Shore was entertaining.. Doesn't mean it was worth watching. I refuse to subscribe to Frankie for the simple fact that I feel he is dishonest to his audience and he gains views/subscribers by being a liar. I don't approve of his lack of integrity, so I boycott his videos out of principle. That said, I understand they are entertaining, and Lexta's video may not be as entertaining.. I certainly wouldn't/couldn't watch the entire 2 hours. But at least respect that he posted it here for people to see the entire encounter from another perspective.
-
^-- He has a point there. Frankie is beyond reproach in this community. He can KOS, lie, cheat, steal, and manipulate his footage to his hearts content, and his fanbois come swooping to his defense anytime someone asks questions or criticizes him, and he gets a million plus views on most of his videos.. Meanwhile, the average DayZ youtuber takes loads of scrutiny and criticism for non-sense. Sheeple. I think a lot of how Lexta is coming across is due to a language barrier. You guys should give him the benefit of the doubt.

It could be that his voice in his video was altered by the voice modulating program, and just came out the other end modulated, but the same words were spoken..

After last episode, I travel to NWAF lonewolf style, and have one of the best days sniping I've had in Standalone! As always, comment, likes, and subs are appreciated! Constructive criticism and feedback is welcome. I hope you enjoy watching these as much as I enjoy making them. :)

Probably the last Mod video for a while.. Going to be doing a series of tutorials as well as some skin videos, and more SA stuff coming soon.. Took a break from SA during the last patch for obvious reasons. :)
-
Seriously? For some reason it sounded like it was coming from your end... but I find that amusing nonetheless.
-
1. The video was unwatchable due to excessive breathing into the mic from you or one of your friends. 2. Frankie is a tool.

WE NEED TO PUT AN END TO META-GAMING.. DEAN NEEDS TO FIND A WAY TO FORCE PLAYERS TO DIE IRL UPON DEATH IN GAME.. THIS WAY THEY NEVER KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THEIR PREVIOUS LIFE WHEN THEY SPAWN. BEING ABLE TO LIVE OVER AND OVER AGAIN IS UNREALISTIC. END META-GAMING FOREVERS.

The challenge and saga of Zombie Pathfinding
Etherimp replied to SmashT's topic in News & Announcements
Dude I hate the banks and monetary system as much as the next guy, but if you're that tight on cash maybe you should spend less time gaming and more time busting your ass and supporting your family. Trust me, I've made a lot of sacrifices to be able to sustain myself and my lifestyle.. It's not BI's fault you're having money problems. -
That's funny.. I've gone on killing rampages with the SKS before and found it kills people in 1-2 shots.. Maybe you just suck at the game and should get on my level?

So I've been aiming strictly with the center dot lately...
Etherimp replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
FYI - I just checked in a server not too long ago.. Was using an M4 with a RDS, and aiming at the door of the police station from about 10-15 meters away.. In first person only using the crosshair/dot, I aimed directly at the doorknob, and then aimed down sights with my RDS, and found that the crosshair was off to the left, and down from the doorknob. Thus - The 1st person dot and the "down sights" crosshair are off significantly. -
Why Were Helicopters "Overpowered" In The Vanilla Mod?
Etherimp replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
You're saying all of those things like they're equal.. Speed > Balanced by complete loss of stealth? Who needs stealth when you can travel 15k in 5 minutes? You don't need to be stealthy.. If you're flying high and fast it's not like anyone is shooting you down. So.. why would you need stealth? The fact that you're capable of traveling 15k in 5 minutes is part of the problem, and you can't solve it by making helicopters loud. Make helicopters audible from across the entire map.. If you take off at Balota, someone will hear the helicopter at NEAF.. Now, make the Helicopter travel Mach 3. Balanced, right?! Wrong. That analogy illustrates how silly your argument is. For balance, you need two equal parts, one which balances/counters the other. Stealth is not countered by speed and speed is not countered by stealth. They aren't equal. The only time you need to be stealthy is if you're afraid of being shot.. When it comes to infantry, Stealth vs Speed is balanced.. but helicopters have more advantages than just speed, which you completely fail to address. Speed. (We already have things which are loud and fast.. They're called trucks/cars.) Mobility (they can strafe, rotate, reverse, and hover, all things which planes and other flying vehicles cannot do). Access (They provide access to areas which other vehicles/players cannot get... See: The tops of high buildings, castles, etc) Visibility (They provide a birds eye view of everything around them) People have suggested the following solutions to the visibility advantages -Fog... DayZ Mod and Standalone both already have fog. Makes no difference. If it's too foggy, the people scouting camps just land or find something else to do (like refuel) until the fog passes. -Better rendering... The games graphics settings are PARTIALLY client side, and I do not see that changing. It would be VERY difficult to dictate to the client with any degree of fairness what graphic settings they HAVE to use. The only solution would be to set the in-game settings at a "lowest common denominator".. for example: Bad PC's can only reliably view objects at 500 meters.. good PC's up to 1500... So, let's just set the view distance to 500! .. So, now you're overtly limiting someones PC capabilities to balance the game around low-end PC's.. You want the game to look like shit? I don't.. You want your good PC to be wasted? I don't. -Lock first person mode... While I would have no problem with this for infantry situations, I've already outlined why this is a bad idea for vehicles. -Make tents/stashes more difficult to see from the air ... Sure this is a good solution. I would, too, like to see better camo'd tents and more difficult to see stashes.. but then we're not even taking into consideration the fact that Standalone intends to implement player-built bases, which we could assume would also be visible from the air. Rather defeats the purpose of player-built bases if they can just be robbed/destroyed every day by whoever possesses a heli. And so far, I have seen no counters/balance to the fact that helicopters offer unlimited access and superior mobility.. They are inherent to the nature of helicopters. -
Why Were Helicopters "Overpowered" In The Vanilla Mod?
Etherimp replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
You're attempting to make design decisions around helicopters AND helicopters will NEVER be NOT broken in this game.. They still provide ALL of the advantages I have continually gone back to over and over again in this thread. Zombies are integral to the game and can be fixed/balanced.. Not so, with helis. -

Once again, you're asking for the game to be designed AROUND helicopters.. This is a CLEAR indication that helicopters are bad for gameplay. -
Why Were Helicopters "Overpowered" In The Vanilla Mod?
Etherimp replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Serious question... did you even play the mod before SA was released? Better question, have you even read the thread? All of the points you're bringing up have already been covered and countered. LOD, trees and bushes, blah blah blah.. You're talking about a complete redesign of the rendering engine for...helicopters? Good call. -
So I've been aiming strictly with the center dot lately...
Etherimp replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Well, it can happen for sure.. If you're crouching/prone or just standing still and paying attention to where the center-dot is between the 2 rails, and you aim ahead accordingly and compensate for bullet drop, I don't think that's too unrealistic.. I'd say you just made a really good shot, which is understandable considering your experience with the mod. -
So I've been aiming strictly with the center dot lately...
Etherimp replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Depends on the situation... Center dot in 3rd person mode SUCKS, but that's due to third person perspective. In 1st person mode it's fairly accurate in close -> medium range, but anything beyond 100m or so is going to start getting sketchy. Likewise, aiming down sites is very clunky (as you said) in close range fire fights, as it doesn't turn fast enough and narrows your perspective, but it's better for long range engagements. Personally, I like the way Vanilla Mod's crosshair works.
