Fraps FPS - Sniper - need help/suggestions

This. I use Shadowplay for most of my actual gameplay.. I only use fraps on occasion when recording specific scenarios. -

I said someone who is crowding towards you is showing AGGRESSIVE body language. It doesn't necessarily mean they are aggressive, but if you have a gun and they do not and they are crowding toward you, it's a good indication that they may try to pull some bullshit. Just because someone is running around in circles does not mean they are aggressive.. It's just showing that they are "assertive".. They are not afraid of you.. This may be because they are a fresh spawn and they don't care if they die, or it may be because they have friends following them and they are baiting you.. It could mean a lot of things. The point is, if someone was SUBMISSIVE to you, they would not run around in circles around you.. They would make themselves look small, or distance themselves from you.. But distancing is also a DEFENSIVE position, so just because someone is taking up a defensive position does not mean they will not take up that position then shoot you. -

I mean, for someone like you who is struggling to grasp the English language, I'm not at all surprised that the idea of reading body language is a foreign concept to you. Video games are just real people interacting through a different medium. Just like this text is a real person interacting with you through a different form. Again, though, I don't know why I'm bothering to explain something which involves nuance and subtlety to a troglodyte. You're right.. Just shoot everyone, it makes your E-peen look big. Ingrate. -

"A person crouching towards me has hostile intentions!!!"? Where did you take that quote from because I certainly didn't say it... Re-read my post before you misquote please. Furthermore, I have actual evidence/proof in video form supporting what I say. Every example you've given has been nothing but anecdotal. If you post a video of a specific encounter, I could break it down for you. -

Clearly you don't understand body language. There's more to body language than the physical actions. An example... If someone is crowding toward you, they are not giving you your personal space, which is a sign of hostility/aggression. Passive/submissive players/people/animals will attempt to make themselves smaller and put themselves further away, preferring a defensive posture, stance, or position. Hostile/Aggressive players/people/animals will attempt to make themselves larger, or attempt to own more "space/real estate" in the vicinity.. An aggressive player may run around in circles in your area, and close to you, while a passive player would crouch down and move away from you. DayZ is real life in as much as players are people and people inherently and unconsciously manifest their emotional state into whatever "reality" they are currently occupying. I have videos which demonstrate this, and if you actually pay attention in game to how people "act/move/posture", then it becomes pretty apparent. An example that comes to mind was that a friend and I were watching Berezino from the western hill, and we saw a player on top of the police station.. He had a small backpack on, and a starter weapon (maybe an SKS? if I recall..) We could just tell by the way that he was moving and standing and where and when he was pausing that he was relatively new to the game and that he was most likely friendly. Turned out we were right. Language (if it gets to that point) is also a pretty clear indication of someones intentions, especially when combined with their "body language". You can mock my logic and denounce this stuff all you want... Or you can incorporate it into your own play and see the results for yourself. -

Yeah, like, SERIOUSLY, you can sense peoples intentions through stuff like BODY LANGUAGE. As well as speech patterns, tone of voice, etc. Is your mind blown or what? -

Etherimp replied to Acher0n's topic in General Discussion
YOU may not be able to sense if someone is friendly or deceptive or not... But some people can. I have yet to be knocked out by a bambi and I have never been betrayed by someone I befriended... ...Well, I take that back. Someone I befriended befriended another guy, and we were travelling together. I had an M4, and I announced that I was going to go up into the trees and log out. Before logging out, I sat and made sure that the other 2 guys kept running. Sure enough, the "new" guy made some excuse to the friend and shortly after I ran up into the trees, he came up after me.. I confronted him and he lied to me, so I put a round from my M4 in his head. I've yet to have my gut instincts be wrong about a person. Whenever I was betrayed in the Mod it was because I didn't trust my instincts. I've made long-term friends through SA and the Mod, and I've killed more than my fair share of other players. Being friendly doesn't make you a chump. It makes you a good person. Being friendly to everyone will eventually make you a victim.. But killing fresh spawns for no other reason than "OH NO THEY CAN PUNCH ME OUT SO I GOTTA EMPTY THIS DRUM MAG INTO THEM" is an asshole move. -

What led you to trust that player? The thing I love about DayZ is that aside from hackers/glitchers, anything that happens to you is your own fault.. KOS'd? Your own fault. Bambi betrays you? Your own fault. There is more to being good at the game than being able to shoot others before they shoot you. -

Poor player in my mind too. 500+ hours of game time; never been killed by a fresh spawn when I had gear. If you're toting around a weapon in an area where fresh spawns exist, then you deserve to have one of them knock you out and jack your kit. If you're not good enough to prevent this from happening, you're doing something wrong. -
I'm on my way to work in a minute, so I am in a bit of a rush, but wanted to get to this.. My best friend from high-school was the lead on a mortar team over in Afghanistan.. when he got home, he got into a dispute with his wifes new boyfriend, and the dispute turned into a shootout.. My friend was shot in the side with a 9mm at point blanke range (within 10m).. He was dropped to the ground, but the bullet went through without hitting any vital organs. He survived, drew his .22 caliber pistol, and shot the new boyfriend 8 times, killing him. Pop quiz: If you were Chuck (my friend), would you rather get shot with the 9mm, or a .357, or a .38, or a .45, or a .44, or a .50? Pop quiz #2: If Chuck was firing a .45 instead of a .22, would the new boyfriend still be standing after Chuck scored 7 hits on him? Another quick (true) story.. My father got out of prison in ~1997... in 2001, he was approached by 2 officers in a special crimes task unit, and announced to him that he was under arrest and had the right to remain silent, for bank robbery.. he was guilty, and knew it.. as the officer approached he drew his .38 special, and as he raised the gun to shoot the cop in the head, the cop pushed the gun down with his own hands, and my father pulled the trigger and released the round into the cops stomach, hitting his kevlar vest and leaving him incapacitated (temporarily unconscious).. The cops partner returned fire and shot my father 11 times with a 9mm before my father could bring the gun to bear on the other officer. Pop quiz: If you are the cop that got shot, are you glad you got shot by a .38, or would you rather be shot by a .50 cal, or a .45, or a 9mm? Pop quiz 2: If the cops were firing .45 instead of 9mm, would my father still be standing after getting shot 11 times?

I find it sad that NEAF is still getting camped

I agree with this whole heartedly, however you will (at times) see me use 3rd person to shoot at close range with a fully automatic weapon. I have "switch perspective" bound to my mouse4 button, so I can quickly and easily switch back and forth, but there are times when I'll use 3rd person in a pinch. That said, slicing the pie and leaning, as well as taking your time in an area is super important to learn and most of the people who play this game simply lack those fundamental 1st person shooter skills. -
All bullets have the capacity to kill but the Hague Convention of 1899 prohibits the use of of bullets which easly flatten or expand in the body in international warfare. This is (partly) why 5.56 are used and why they use FMJ rather than hollow-point. Hollow-point rounds are specifically designed to flatten and expand upon contact with tissue which then transfers energy from the bullet to the surrounding area. The alternative is (as described above), a round which more easily penetrates. You can make any round flathead/hollowpoint, and you could design 5.56 as Hollowpoint, but it's against the "rules" of war, hence why they aren't used. I imagine the military also uses 5.56 because of the high muzzle velocity and overall stability of the round, range, and accuracy. This doesn't mean they have more STOPPING POWER than a .45 ACP. Realistically, 9mm's stopping power is just fine, but as explained above, the more mass the projectile has the more energy it takes to propel it and the more energy it carries the more damage it's going to do upon impact as it imparts that energy into the target. Small caliber FMJ's are going to more easily pass through (penetrate), while larger, heavier, slower rounds are going to stop on impact and destroy more tissue upon shallow penetration. This is simple physics man.. You don't have to be a gun nut to understand these concepts, and I'm not arguing that one round is better or worse. They all have their uses and there are so many variables to take into consideration that it's really not a black and white issue. But the PHYSICS of the matter is: Larger round = more stopping power. Let's not even get into armor, as it's a non-issue. A 1970 Cadillac that weighs 2 tons going 50 miles per hour is going to do more damage to wall than a 2010 Honda Civic going 60 mph. The increase in speed does not mean it's going to bust that wall down easier than the heavier car. Likewise, a needle is going to penetrate easier and cause less destruction to a piece of paper than a dowel head would, going the same speed.

Etherimp replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
The only reason people camp it is because other people keep going there. Stop going there and enjoy the pvp at nwaf. -
Actually, I'm pretty sure you're wrong. Penetration and stopping power are two separate qualities. If a bullet penetrates a target it imparts less of its energy into that target. A slower and heavier round will stop at/inside the target and all of the excess energy will be imparted into the target, devastating bones organs and tissues. That's stopping power. Rounds like 5.56 are designed to penetrate and wound. Not kill. They are high velocity, light, and high penetration. They also (often) break apart upon hitting bone, spreading shrapnel through the surrounding tissue. Similar to anecdotes about .22 rounds hitting someone's shoulder, piercing their lung, and coming out their thigh. That said, without hitting a vital organ or ricocheting inside someone's body, wounds from smaller caliber rounds are generally non-lethal. Whereas a wound from a .357 or .45 is much more likely to send a devastating shockwave through a large area around the entry wound and cause fatal damage to vital organs.

Hell, let's go 300 player servers... then we can have 295 players in Elektro, or Berezino, or Novo, or Svet, or Balota, or whatever other "area" the most people spawn at ...And you'll have the same 5 people running between Balota -> NWAF and all the hot spots inbetween. If you want to impact the player experience (IE - run in to more people), you need to make more unique locations that encourage people to spread out (with an objective), and you need to spread the spawns across the map instead of all in 1 corner. Heli crashes are a good start. I also suggest: -Nerfing Balota much like NEAF was nerfed. -Adding random "convoys" and survivor camps.. convoys = supply filled trucks/busses in the middle of the road surrounded by zeds. -Nerf Veresnik and Kamenka military bases.. Remove the barracks. 4 Barracks and 3 barracks = more than NWAF.. Not right. NWAF is the main military installation in Chernarus. Should not be outshined by 2 small outposts. -Restrict high quality military loot to only certain buildings (Barracks) -Vehicles.. Adding vehicles means vehicles spawn and certain locations become valuable because they spawn vehicle parts (See: Palona factory from the Mod) -Once tents and other permanent storage items are in the game, restrict their spawns to Grocery stores, military installations, and deer stands. -Re-add some military tents to Stary Sobor. Once the map is more balanced, THEN you can start talking about adding more players..But for now (and since launch), it's been 90% of the server congregating in the same 2-3 areas, killing each other, while the other 10% roams the map looting up.. That's not even taking server hoppers into consideration.

Depends on where they are hit obviously. Getting shot with just about anything will send you into shock. Also, depends on the person.. Some people may immediately go unconscious, others may kick into adrenaline overdrive to stay conscious.. Getting hit in any vital organs I would think would incapacitate the person and if they didn't get medical attention in short order they would bleed out. Getting hit in the leg can be serious if it hits a major artery.

Recently (I have video of it that I still have to upload), I took no less than 3 shots from an AK in a relatively small period of time. 1st shot did not make me bleed. It damaged my shirt and vest though. Was probably about 50 meters. 2nd shot made me bleed, broke my arm, and ruined my shirt and everything in it. Shot was from over 150 meters. before the 3rd shot, I got a saline bag and bandaged myself and fixed my arm... the third shot made me bleed, and reduced my heath significantly but not much else. This shot was from about 100 meters. Just some random info. Damage is strange. Recently, I shot a guy in the thigh with a mosin, and it knocked him unconscious and broke his leg.. I then put one in his head and finished him. Another guy, took a Mosin to the upper body (around the neck), and it broke his legs... I then shot him in the side, and he was still alive.. my friend finished him with a mosin to the noggin. I've killed people in 1-2 shots from just about any gun, and I've let loose with other guns and hit them a half dozen times just to have them fall unconscious with a strong pulse. It's weird. I'd like more insight into how it works.

Fair warning; ballistics and motorbike helmets only offer limited protection from small arms. It will not stop 7.62 and only really protects from glancing shots. -
