    People's thoughts on hip firing?

If you switch between "ADS" and "hud DOT" while fixed on a location (like say, a point between 2 lines on a door), and you fire at both, you can see theres an obvious difference between the two.
  2. Central US (Or anywhere in the US where I can get under 120 ping. I live in AZ.) 4-6 hour Uptime. Full Day/Night Cycle in 4-6 hour period Hardcore (1pp locked) And importantly - POPULATED! (Not necessarily 40/40, but >20 would be nice.) If you know of this server, or you are a server owner who is willing to make some changes, I will make your server my home and the home of all my buddies.

There's not Pinpoint accuracy on the HUD Dot. Go test it. Your shots land down and to the right of the hud dot, and it's not representative of where your gun is aiming, only where you are actually looking.

Better than being turned into a corpse.

Think about a realistic scenario where you're holding ... say, a shotgun.. Or a handgun like a glock 9mm.. If I am standing behind a doorway in my house, aiming down a corridor waiting for someone to come through a door, I will likely be aiming down sights, as I know exactly where to expect someone and I do not need any peripheral vision. My shot will be as accurate as possible. If, however, I am moving through a large warehouse, and it's possible that someone could be behind any corner/wall/object, I will probably be holding my gun up at shoulder/chest level, aiming my gun where-ever my eyes go, and reflexively firing when I see someone. Yes, I sacrifice a bit of accuracy but I am maintaining a greater field of view and allowing my eyes to see more around me. If someone does appear, and I fire, and miss, I have at least suppressed them, and they (presumably) would move back behind cover, at which point I could look down sights and train the barrel towards where I expect them to be next. This is essentially how I play in DayZ and I think it feels the most natural. I have a video which demonstrates this well with a Mosin.. My friend and I get in a fire-fight in the middle of an intersection, and I have a LRS attached to my mosin. I use "hip fire" 2-3 times just to take snap-shots at our enemies. I can't say whether any hit or not, or if it was worth doing.. I just know it's what felt right to do in that moment. Watch about the first 2-3 minutes of that video.

Expect glitchers and hackers in any server that advertises a "safe zone".. They see it as a challenge/easy griefing.

You'll see them everywhere 'cause they're teleporting around... so many hackers on that server.

I dunno, I can snap shot a rifle up to about 20 meters and hit a small paint can hanging from a tree 9 times out of 10. It's not that hard to aim your gun at something, fire, and hit it within a certain range.

    The West is Wild again

I've actually run into quite a few people in the north/west sides of the map in recent weeks.. a lot of fresh spawns around vybor especially. My buddies and I actually found the dead body of a guy who died to a zombie (gasp!) in a red house to the south of vybor.. Never seen anyone in that town before. This guy was carrying a bunch of M4 stuff, so it looked like he had just logged in after not playing for several months.

    The camo building is stupid

Sounds like that's probably the argument you see in a lot of threads. I play on both. I prefer Hardcore, but I play 3rd person a lot with my friends. 3rd person adds additional considerations that need to be made when entering and navigating a situation. It takes it's own skills. There ARE hardcore servers for you to play out there and nobody is stopping you from playing on them, so please let's avoid the 3rd person shaming that happens on these forums. It's ridiculous and stupid.

    People's thoughts on hip firing?

Just so you know, people who play on "babycore" servers, as you call them, often times also play on "hardcore" servers... And just so you know, people who play on "babycore" servers, some of them played the mod for a very long time and were quite good at it, and they play "babycore" because that's what the mod originally was... Also, just so you know, some people who play "babycore" servers were competitive counter-strike players that made money playing video games... on LAN no less.. Against some of the best FPS gamers in the world.. So please, instead of lazily insulting every player who plays on a specific kind of server, insinuating that you are somehow a "better" player for playing a different kind of server, maybe you should consider that it's just a matter of preference and actually doesn't say anything about someones skill level. Edit: In response to the topic at hand, 50m is probably a bit of an exaggeration. I think 50m may be the upper limit of what I would consider "possible" to shoot from the hip at.. Basically, any time someone ISN'T in CQC with me, I ADS. Though I have been known to shoot even Mosins from the hip, just to make quick "snap shots" down a corridor or around a tree..

I just see that as inherent advantages/disadvantages of hip fire vs ADS.. At 50+ meters, ADS is preferable, but you have to control your recoil more to see the person so your gun doesn't obstruct them.. At >50 meters, ADS gets way too much in the way and is far too slow, so hip firing is preferable..

    The camo building is stupid

Yes, Green Mountain is another one that you can't really snipe the top level from.. but as you mentioned, it only slightly complicates matters and doesn't make it "impossible".. The camping spots are all still similar and predictable. As far as 3rd person goes, it doesn't bother me... If I am in 1st person, I have the advantage of better accuracy and I can instantly get headshots the moment I see someone. If they are using 3rd person they are sacrificing their accuracy, and if they decide to pop around the corner at me we have 2 people trained on them.. If they get 1 of us they'd be extremely lucky. Also, I get all of this from having gone through the motions several times and knowing what the usual outcome is.. Honestly, once you start peeling the layers of the onion back and the defender realizes they'll soon be fucked since they're outnumbered, they often log out behind the stairs

Yeah.. I'd even be happy with starting at Sunrise, and ending at .. ohh.. about midnight? That way you get mostly day, some dusk, some dawn, and a little bit of night.

The ease of controlling your recoil and aim is completely dependent upon your mouse sensitivity... Unless I'm not understanding what you're talking about here..

    People's thoughts on hip firing?

Yeah, it all seems pretty obvious to me... CQC - Hip firing is just fine.. Anything outside of 100 meters, and you should probably ADS.. You should probably ADS as close as 50m out, for that matter.

Yeah.. I wouldn't mind longer day/night cycle, but my idea is that I would like to start a play session and be able to experience an entire day in 1 session.

Prepare for me to blow your fucking minds... The Jail is a deathtrap for campers, and is easily breached by a group of 3, and capable of being breached by 1 or 2 skilled players. It's very simple, and I will now demonstrate in a step by step manner when considering grenades and not having grenades. Anyone who rushes a single camper is a fool.. Step 1: Player 1 sets up in a sniper position capable of viewing the upstairs corridor so he can see the top of the stairs. Step 2: Player 2 sets up in a position where he can peek the Jail cell window Step 3: Player 3 runs in the FOV of the jail cell into to behind cover, hopefully baiting out anyone who's camping there using 3rd person view Step 4: The Top rooms, and the Jail cell are now cleared. Players 2 and 3 move into positions to view the back hallway of the first floor by looking through the cell door.. If there's anyone standing at the back you can see a SLIVER of them, and potentially kill them if they are not behind cover. Step 5: Player 2 sets up on the left side of the CLOSED front doors, backs up until he can see where the corner of the wall adjacent to the Cell connects to the ceiling. Many people camp on this corner to shoot anyone who opens the door.. Line up your shot at approximately head level, and spam bullets through the door to that corner, then reload. Step 6: Player 3 lays prone and crawls up to the door, opening it to give Player 2 a view of the back of the hallway.. Player 2 keeps his crosshair trained on the corner. Step 7: Player 3 stands up, sticks to the right wall, and keeps his crosshair trained on the corner at the base of the stairs... At this point, if you have grenades, you safely and easily finish this encounter by throwing a grenade around the corner and walking away... If not, proceed to step 8 (AKA - The tricky part) Currently, the Jail Cell, the top floor, and the entryway are all cleared.. There are only 2 places anyone could be hiding 1. Behind the stairs 2. On the stairs themselves. Step 8: Player 2 moves up slowly, keeping his crosshair trained on the corner, and sticking to the left wall.. Step 9: Player 3 stays in position, as near to the corner as possible without exposing himself, but out of the LOF of his teammate Step 10: Player 2 peeks around the corner and checks the staircase.. If he starts firing, Player 3 pops around the corner from a crouched position and fires up the stairs.. Step 11: If the Stairs are cleared, only behind the stairs remains.. Player 2 continues slowly walking and peeking to the left until he spots the defender, and if Player 2 gets dropped, player 3 comes around the corner to finish the defender off knowing exactly where he was shooting from. Killing campers is all about anticipating where they will be.. Being an attacker requires patience and slow, methodical movement.. you must be vigilant to clear EVERY possible nook and cranny that someone could be hiding.. In this case, you know there are only 2 places the person could be hiding, and you have 3 people to work with.. If you reduce your numbers and increase theirs it becomes increasingly more difficult to clear the building, but it can still be done with some skill.
  20. Thanks for the info.. Misunderstanding on my part.

What Video content do you look for in DayZ videos?

Yeah man, with that attitude and some time you'll do fine.. And yes, I'm aware of chopping down a tree and making a splint. I just figured my friends either had a splint or a morphine on them, and they did, I just cut it off before I got medical attention. :)

What Video content do you look for in DayZ videos?

Yeah, I totally understand where you're coming from, just thought it was worth mentioning. I think a lot of people start doing youtube videos thinking they're going to be an instant hit and then when they get 20 views on their first 10 videos or so they get tired of putting the work in and give up..They don't realize that a lot of the guys who are "big" made it big by putting in a lot of work and have some of the following things going for them, either they have other games they've played where they got views/subs, or they stream every day or several times a week so their subs/followers on twitch will sub them on youtube, or they have a team of people supporting them by making graphics, animations, thumbnails, splash screens, and other cool stuff for them. I'd also recommend using Reddit, DayZ forums, and DayzTV to your advantage, but don't stop there. Post your videos on Steam and be sure to make them public. If you meet people in-game and have a friendly encounter, give them your youtube channel. Little things. Every subscriber counts, especially if you're making good quality videos. I'm still working on the science of properly naming/advertising videos so that people will want to watch them. Also, don't pigeon-hole yourself into 1 type of video. Don't misunderstand what I put in my last post ... Definitely learn from other youtubers and watch what they're doing right and what they're doing wrong... But don't live and die by their example. A lot of what will make you big fast is doing something that others simply aren't doing. Look at Merino's video on the Health/Blood Food/Drink system. He only made 9 videos, but they are all very well done and informative. He has between 15k - 100k views on each video. He got >6000 subscribers in the short time he was making videos, and with 332000 views, he probably made about 300 USD.. He hasn't been active in 5 months.. Imagine where he would be if he had stayed active for the last 5 months? The reason he got so big so fast is because he was providing information (and GOOD information) that nobody else knew/had, and he was providing it in a simple/clean format .. Everybody could use it.. It wasn't controversial.. It wasn't a matter of "opinion" or "taste".. Some people like my videos, some people don't.. but everyone liked Merinos videos because they were good information for everyone and you learn something from them. I'm not saying make tutorials, although that wouldn't be a bad idea.. I'm just saying that to get subs you're gonna have to give people something they can't find elsewhere. If subs aren't your goal and you just want to make videos for your own enjoyment I recommend just making them as good of quality as possible and doing whatever you enjoy, keep it simple and clean.

What Video content do you look for in DayZ videos?

A few tips from a fellow youtuber 1. Don't do what others are doing, do what you want to do, what you will enjoy, and what you think you are good at. 2. Most people will say they want 1 thing when in reality they don't know what they want and you will build a subscriber base off of people who enjoy YOU regardless of what you're doing. I've released 3-4 videos of nothing but player interactions and helping people. They were among my lowest view count videos. Even though people will bitch and moan about you KOSing someone and argue with you insisting youre a bandit and the scum of the earth the reality is those videos get decent viewa. Highest view count = me accidentally shooting 2 of my friends, a test, a guide, and a test. Middle ground views = typical action and squad play stuff. 3. Production quality goes a long way but don't overdo it. Make sure your mic sounds good and your video is high quality and don't over OR under edit the videos. You want the viewer to be engaged and informed without getting bored. And finally - be patient. Don't expect yourself to become an overnight sensation. Editing is a lot of work with very very little reward initially.
  24. If you need more than 60 ammo to kill anyone or anything in this game then you're doing it wrong. /thread Glad it's being cleaned up.. Let's hope they run a BE/VAC ban wave the same time.
  25. The results may surprise you... ...We used a Mosin in testing because it's the highest caliber and should have the most penetration.
