Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt: Battleye support site says they disallow DirectX Overlays, explicitly mentioning Fraps. (and would that include Steam Overlay, too?!) I wanted to make some let's plays but now I'm scared to run fraps. (I also wanted to run fraps to see my FPS with my new graphics card, too) How are all those youtube videos created if not with Fraps or similar DirectX-Hooking software?! I hardly doubt everyone has a HD video capture device at home...

Stop modeling DayZ after 28Days Later
thygrrr replied to Rough89's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have never been sick in the game, ever. Zombies are only dangerous because they are so glitchy (and that worthless piece of shit ArmA 2 engine, too, with all its brokenness and limitations [lol, throwing?! lol, ladders?! lol, swimming & gear?! lol, ammo drop on item pickup?!])... ok, I'm ramblin. ...meaning you can't reliably fight the Zombies. So when a zombie warps by you at lightspeed only to materialize in your blind spot, dealing damage from 15 meters away glitching through stances so fast you can't even aim for its CHEST, let alone HEAD, while his friends are clawing at you from underneath the concrete floor, it's pretty impossible to stop them, and you need to readjust to stand a chance. Even so, I can get rid of zombies, and I can live. And the game stays somewhat immersive. You need to man up. And Bohemia needs to fix their shit in ArmA 3. -
It is CONSIDERABLY harder to fit into buildings now, has the bounding volume of the player been changed?

Broken bones, especially through engine bugs, stupid missteps, or when a zombie hits you good, can be quite crippling. My suggestion: Add splints, and here's how they could work. Splints should work like a Player action (much like Blood Transfusions), meaning you need someone ELSE to splint you. Splinting uses up 1 unit of Wood. Added difficulty: Player is in pain (the painkiller-requiring kind) after the splinting process. Tadaa... mitigated the bone breaking problem and introduced a new teamplay mechanic, plus a good sink for painkillers. :-) In addition to splinting, you can still use the morphine on yourself if you have any, of course. At a later stage, it might be an idea to make morphine work temporarily only (i.e. sooner or later you will have to find someone to properly splint your leg).

Weapons Bin Configuration Error
thygrrr replied to choineiret's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yes I get that a lot. The error message. It can be ignored. In this game, you spawn without equipment (only a bandage and a flashlight AFAIK) -
Извините, это шутка! :-)

Just click on it, a marker should appear. However, it's considered an exploit if you do it while in global or side chat (not sure about group), because there is even more magick involved and it appears on everybody's map.

Yeah, don't constantly update the zombie "target", make it go (mostly) deaf when it's headed somewhere, just not blind.
-
Suggestion for the Zombie Aural Investigation Issue: Add an additional Zombie behavior state: "slow approach". Make the zombie move towards you slowly if it doesn't have LOS (so it doesn't need an updated investigation position everytime you say "Polo", but instead keeps you as its target but is in said "slow approach" state as opposed to the "all out sprint" state). In the slow approach state, let it regularly check for visual contact same as while loitering. Whatever crosses its path there will become the new target, now with "all out sprint" mode.

This is a real bugbear for me. This and crawling down steps killing you makes things feel pretty unfair sometimes. Yes, the standing up can be very lethal. I remember being able to crawl into a barn; now I can't - for most bawns at least. I also have significant problems walking into standard residential houses (the ones with the yellow/green wallpaper and the dark wooden entrance). It's as if the whole thing has become extremely narrow. I get stuck in the doorway 4 out of 5 times.

This server is running an incorrect version of server side appliction.
thygrrr replied to SiennaWroten's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
200+ people trying to play on outdated or misconfiguted servers or with outdated mod versions. 0.1% of all players, seems plausible. Nothing to see here. PM me if you want me to look at your install using www.teamviewer.com. ... I am pretty sure this is not a DayZ issue. -
Frequently hotfixes making the game unplayable.
thygrrr replied to FFrank's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
FFrank, please, for the love of god, STFU. Fixes, patches, new versions are exactlx what the mod needs. -
Also, on average, 4 bandits.

Respawn cooldown on Zeds could be longer.

Zombies glitch through doors and sometimes open them. I have two crosshairs for the hatchet (they seem to move independently in 3rd person)
-
Gameplay experience was THE BEST so far, great time. :) Issues: At Drakon, I spawned at the beach and 2 zombies spawned less han 5 m from me just shortly afterwards. Hatchet sometimes runs out of ammo for no apparent reason. Komarovo has a ridiculous number of Zeds (4 players in the vicinity), meaning the town is off limits.

Arma 2 Beta Patch 93965 - Gear Not Dropped When Swimming!
thygrrr replied to Skint (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is a server setting so if the server doesn't have it configured you will still lose your gear in water. -
Hotfix Build 1.7.1.4 Rolling Update (was 1.7.1.3)
thygrrr replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Game logic maybe' date=' but it's definitely not my CPU. An i5-2500K @ 4.6ghz should not be bottlenecking a GTX460, and it didn't with any other DayZ patch, or any other game for that matter. [/quote'] Sorry I meant a runaway process in the game is hogging all your CPU or at least one of the cores. Definitely a game bug.
