  1. Hey, just wanted to bring a few tips (some may seem obvious, but whatever) when faced with a fight: -Avoid the fight. I know this sounds boring, but unless you are ready to die let them leave. -If you see them from afar, take your time. Chances are if you don't, you'll shoot quickly and miss in your panic, and they will have time to leave. Or worse, kill you. -Look for openings: maybe they just bent down to pick up a medkit, maybe they are facing the wrong way, or even AFK. Shoot then, and aim for the head. If worst comes to worst, and you actually fight them: -Find cover. One well placed bullet is all it takes, and you're not one of those cowboys standing in front of each other shooting at each other: you can move. Jump out of the way, take cover, lean out and shoot. Use the environment to your opportunity: getting a high ground will help, or even shooting a nearby gas tank which is near your opponent. -Make them scared. If, when you find them, you just shoot randomly and miss, they'll immediately know you're a noob and kill you. If you get a well placed shot (or even break their legs), they'll quickly run away, scared. Make your opponent fear you. -Use quick weapons to kill them. Whilst shotguns are good for zombies, chances are the time it takes for you to reload is enough for him to kill you. Bullets don't count for everything, but a large amount of them is good, and if your rounds are well placed can finish him quickly. -If worst comes to worst and you run, try and zigzag or hide in a building. Like that he will not sit down and shoot you easily like some wild animal. When fighting groups of enemies: -Be wary. Even if you only SEE one person, they may not be alone. Usually when I get into gunfights I have a sniper backing me up from afar and a guy hiding, waiting to come in if things go ugly. Always be cautious. -Shoot the leader/best equipped. As a noob I always ran away if the strongest guys of my group died. You'll easily scare off anyone who's scared. These are not general truths or facts, just things I have noticed and tips I use myself. If you disagree with one or want to add another, post here!
  2. Hey, I was remembering my DayZ days, which I haven't played in nearly a year (August 2013), and remembered an experience I want to write down. I was on this server with a Portuguese Admin chap (who was a friend of a friend) who was picking players up to take them to his base up north (It's so long since I played I forgot the map names, but realllyyy north... Like, end of the map.) where there was a gate. It was a pretty fun trip, we were using the in-game voice chat and having fun, they seemed like decent chaps. Then the first odd thing happened. We had gone to our anti-penultimate stop when a bandit came on. "Hey mate, you're a bandit eh?" (No response, voice or chat) "Guess he's silent." He kept quiet and stared intently out of the window all journey (I was in FPS and could see the inside of the Bus and it's passengers) "Man overboard, man overboard" The idiot had jumped out. Despite our pleas to abandon him (we'd all had bad experience with bandits) the admin said "It's a minute away, he can just follow the road if he wants to chase us. I'm sure he'll be fine" and let him back on. Arrived at the outside of the camp (this huge, in width not length, wall that stretched out for all my view distance) was there with a gate. "Wait inside" he said, getting out to open the gates. Three people came out: a nice guy I had talked to for the trip, a 11 year old and bandit man. I heard a bullet shot and leapt out. The admin was lying on the ground, his legs crippled, all three had taken out their guns. Which one was it? They started firing at each other so I joined the clusterf- (the starting gear was a Machine gun so we were all well equipped). As this Portuguese admin crawled away he said on the mic. "Please don't let them get in the base." I ran into the bus as the others were yelling on the mic, asking what was happening or cursing at each other in the shootout. The bandit (whom I had heavily injured) was having a melee fight with the nice guy in front of the gate, and I drove straight in to them, smash the gate to the ground and killing them both. All hell broke loose. Most people jumped off the bus, and I had to jump off while it was speeding since someone had decided to unload his gun into it. As the bus exploded, I fired a few rounds at the guy shooting the bus before getting one in the arm. Most of the people dead from the firefight or explosion, there were maybe five people left: -The admin (crawling towards the base) bleeding from leg -A guy in a ghillie (he had a russian name, we nicknamed him "Ghillie") perfectly intact -Me (bleeding from arm) -Quiet guy -Quiet guy -11 year old The 11 year old started yelling "F- you Garmalak F- you", leading some people to believe I started this. Shooting him straight in the face, I quickly took a car. Two guys were driving another car in circles around the open plain next to the camp, and I drove right into them. I then realised they were trying to run over the ghillie guy, but they ran over the admin (caving his head in) and smashed into a tree, crawled out and both ran into the forest nearby. This left me, and the ghillie man. "Quick, this way Garm" he said. Everyone being dead, I followed him. "This ends now." He turned around and pointed his gun at me, but I had stopped following him a while ago to bandage behind a broken car. I rose from my cover and shot at him, but he was too quick and nailed me in the shoulder. Then a sniper shot cracked and I saw him fall to the ground. "Myxnah567 is dead" "Thanks." I said to my mysterious saver. "No problem, bitch." he said before another sniper bullet caught me in the face and killed me. To this day I don't know who it is, I think it might have been the Bandit who survived the whole pandemonium. This is a true story, I just felt like sharing. I don't know, I think it's nice to recount my adventures, a sort of memoir, even a blog.

    Revenge

For privacy, I will modify the names of both other parties included in this story: Me and my friend (called Billy), who is also admin, were in Elektro when we met this guy getting chased by zombies. We killed the zed's, and became friends with this guy (CactusMan will be his fake name). Then, later on, we were about to go to Billy's secret base with lots of weapons and gear(all legit) when we accidentally shot Cactus whilst he was being chased by zombies, he then got eaten. I went back into Skype chat to tell him it was an accident, but saw something more disturbing: "Hey guys, when I get good armour and weaps from the base I'll go my own way, and if I see you again you're dead." Worst thing is it was half an hour before we killed him. Well, we took this to heart, and the next day (yesterday) we got him onto the server, and told him there was a DMR in the church at elektro. Little did he know the church contained 4 satchel charges and not weapons. He got in quickly (was being chased by zeds) and I immediately exploded two of them, and Billy giving the coup de grace with the explosion of his two satchels. We got into the jeep and acted as if we hadn't done it, and that Cactus was in the car. Me: "Wow Cactus, that was a close one with those zeds" Cactus: "Why did you drive off without me?" Me: "Wait you're not in the car? Cactus: "No the church exploded, I'm still alive" Billy: "WTF, we're coming dude" Me: "Didn't know that could happen!" (all of this in side-chat by the way). Then as we got near him (being chased by the undead as usual), I drove very near him, and then reversed into him. This sent him flying, and broke his legs. Then a few shots from Billy's DMR pierced his brains and torso. He was merely unconscious though. I took my revolver, pointed it at his head. "Lights out motherfucker" The sound of a gunshot echoed through Cherno, followed by raging in side chat. Best revenge ever.

    My first kill

Just had my first kill 10 minutes ago. (human kill, that is. An innocent.) The story is as follows: On a server, me and this guy on the side chat were meeting up to stick together. We met on a dock/pier between Komaravo and Cherno, and we stayed on the dock/bridge thing, since the zombies hate that and won't go there. Unfortunately, to get out of this port town, we had to escape 14 (and those are the VISIBLE ones, there must have been many more) zombies around us. We agreed to go in non-stealthily, axes flailing. I then asked him if he had any valuables or weapons, and he said "no, only this" and gave me some shoddy revolver mag or something. I then took a look in his bag to find food. I found something else entirely: a Mak, two smoke grenades, a bloodbag and a knife. So much for no valuables, huh? So we made our way back onto the land, ready to face the zombies, but at the edge of the dock, where we were crouching and walking slowly, I decided the both of us couldn't make it out alive. I pulled out my axe, and it only took three blows to finish him. Shoulder, hip, and then head, and he was dangling off the edge of the dock. But something disconcerting had happened: I had heard something like a sniper bullet, the whizzing of a bullet. Was it my imagination? I shrugged it off and threw his smoke grenades to excite the zombies and divert their attention, then did a runner. Unfortunately, my screen went grey, and I fell to the ground, a large crack noise signalling my legs as broken. The sniper guy was indeed real, and had extracted his revenge on me. I'm still wondering, when I "studied" the victim's body, it said he had died form a gunshot to the head. Does the game think the axe is a gun, or did the sniper finish him off for me?

    Revenge

He survived the satchels (they were in the corners of the church) and "respawned" over the rubble, with 12000 blood.
  6. About that, how the hell do they put so many vehicles in the game? And yeah, in Fallout there are no cars at all after the war. It should be more like that!
  7. Garmalak

    Am I old enough.

Those beans are for 13 or older You're going to jail mister
  8. If you mixed blood types it could "work", but with negative effects. I.E a chance of death/fatal disease, so it's a "last option" thing to take a bad blood type.
  9. Yeah, removing the HUD is like removing the health bar in any game. OH WAIT.
  10. Anubis, maybe if you stopped taking jabs at the moderators, pulled your head out of your arse you would realise that the system is totally broken.
  11. Dynamic reflective mirrors would crash the server, before exploding your computer and setting fire to your house, until the fire reaches your gas and blows up your house. No mirrors.

    Just saw Rocket again.

I saw rocket as well! Quite hot isn't he?
  14. And he posts in the nude
  15. So we can all agree the free-look must be modified, perhaps into a behind the shoulder view (think mass effect) Now let's call rocket
  16. Read the last twelve pages.
  17. Just to tell you, in FPS you can also use alt to look behind your head. Just sayin'
  18. Disable the free look camera. Simple.

    ArmA 3 + DayZ Mod

Zero point, there's a standalone you know -_- EDIT: Ninja'd
  20. But yeah, Admins can teleport and give themselves 50 satchel charges and blow up every single building in cherno And you are going: "wah wah he can see over A F-ING WALL"
  21. This is an interesting idea: When ever you shoot your weapon/get hit, you immediately (automatically!) go into First Person if you were not already in it.
  22. Look at my post above yours, the idea part, I think it would solve this issue. :)
  23. This is an interesting idea: When ever you shoot your weapon/get hit, you immediately (automatically!) go into First Person if you were not already in it. EDIT: Combined with Smash's idea of not being able to look over walls, this could be an interesting balanced opportunity for both types of players. Anyway, for my personal usage of the two: First Person: -When in a vehicle (IF I AM NOT DRIVER/PILOT) -When in a fight -When looting cities/looking at objects a bit closer -Whenever I shoot something Third Person: -When in a vehicle (AS PILOT/DRIVER) -When travelling long distances -When being stealthy
  24. Sure, realistic. When I look at the sun I see a lens flare in real life, and if I put some morphine into my leg I can fix a broken bone. But then it's pointless, in fact it would put 1st person players at an advantage
