  1. How about stop the fuckin uppercase and combine all this horseshit into a topic?
  2. I stop typing in uppercase at the start of every single letters. Didn't know why but hunger always restored to 100% full

Game needs a sniper heavier than 7.62

And I personally thinks the helicopters should be extremely tough (but not resistant against heavy machine gun caliber), with limited areas where you could take them down (say rear rotors, fuel tanks, main rotors. Or you could even try and shoot through gaps between the seats, which could potentially take the pilot out. There should be more explosives in the game though, for taking out vehicles. The Soviets even had a tree mounted 'anti-helicopter' mine, which basically detonates upon disturbance by a hovering helicopters.

Maybe we could introduce a few 9.3x64mm Brenneke? Good anti-personel quality yet limited anti-materiel quality. Very common in Russia, with Mauser 98 rechambered for them everywhere and the clip can be converted into SVDK magazine. ( the 9.3mm SVD, used for hitting armored target and infantry in cover. Essentially a SVD that lifts weight ) Or we could introduce the PTRD/PTRS range of anti-tank rifle. It ultilize the 14.5mm cartridge, availability is not a question, but not very accurate ( it was designed to hit tanks and bunker, not individual) So a huge damage but accuracy reduction, making it best for common sniper range engagement with the plus side of hitting armored helicopter and so on. PTRD magazine can be converted for PTRS clip, with the PTRD being the semi-automatic but inaccurate against human target one while the PTRS is the very accurate but slow-firing cousin. Both should be in iron sights by default, with options to mount a 1N34 night scope, PK/PU/PSO/POSP telescopic sights. (Satisfy the need for a large 'big fuck off' rifle, yet only for those who are up for the challenge of getting one and make one operational)

Game needs a sniper heavier than 7.62

Saying that the SVD was issued during WW2 is just outright stupidity. The thing was introduced in the 1960s. Again, saying that the SVD were ultilized for 'suppressive fire' is once again the definition of stupidity. 2 MOA @ 100meters means bullets will consistenly be within a group of 50mm at 100 meters. At 1000 meters it will be within a group of 50cm, which is the average shoulder width of an average male. And cheap construction you say, when most Eastern Bloc weapons are far more rugged and reliable than US/NATO equivalent. It's the design that ultilize cost-effective and efficient construction, reducing the unnecessary while maintaining the quality in which I believed that you Americans are not used to. The SVD were a purposed-built sniper rifle. The M14 is a battle rifle which happened to be ultilized for conversions into DMRs, EBRs and all those rifle which essentially falls within the same category as the SVD. For what you're saying is one shot one kill, every rifle can be the one shot one kill weapon. You just need the skills. Snipers are not snipers because of their weapons, it's due to all the hard work and training they have to do.

If only we could stick the TAPERED 7.62x39 into 7.62x54 weaponry then I guess why would have we bothered with CKC, AK, RPD, RPK, PK, SVT, DP, SG, PMsS and all that bullshit? Just manufacture magazine for one weapon system then adopt them as the standard universal arm already.
  9. duong0111

Game needs a sniper heavier than 7.62

I beg your pardon?Saying that you can fire 7.62x39 in a 7.62x54 chambered rifle is just outright blastphemy. Have you ever handled one of those above mentioned weapon? The Russians and us Eastern bloc don't have grains, yes, but we have grams. Different munitions type were manufactured for different purposes (namely the 7N/T/B family of different cartridge types, with different bullet construction and powder loads as well. And they range from 350gr - 410gr, with a variety of constructions (hardened steel core, fmj, lead casting shapes for a variety of ballistic performance and targets) To say that the SVD is trash is just sheer ignorance. Why did the US and NATO have to go through with their DMRs and HK417s and AR10 derivates for marksman rifle then. And to say that the Eastern Bloc doctrine is about spewing bullets all over the place means you haven't handled a single military textbook in your life. There are two types of sharpshooters in Eastern Bloc system. One will be the designated marksman, meant to tag along with squaddies and engage hardened, covered and/or targets of tactical value (machine gun crews, mortar team, NCOs and so forth). The other ones were dedicated sniper teams, consist from two to three man. They perform the exact same roles as US and Coalition snipers, from area recce to destroy light armored/high value target. And they ultilize the same thing, but with specialized gunsmithing, equipments, munitions and fire support as well. Being an ex-conscript myself, we do train in marksmanship as well. Single shot and two round in a row were the staples. Yes, there were cases of militia who did not know how to ultilize the potential of the AK family but to dub it as a 'cheap and inaccurrate' rifle again, is blasphemy too! IIRC some lads were able to put the whole magazine through a 12" steel target at 500m, of course with breathing control and proper techniques. Why you're saying that it was inaccurate must be due to not being familiar with the ballistics of 7.62 rifle - they tend to jump from the barrel then start to fall down a bit then hit the targets hard - unlike the 5.56 family which have a real flat trajectory but when out of range start to tumble and only achieve wounding due to fragmentation and yawing. And no, too much rifling causes overspinning and destabilize the projectile. The rate of the rifle (twist per inch, or centimeters) had to be accordingly to the length, powder load and projectile weight and type too. If the projectile is aerodynamically unstable, or underpowered, no matter how much rifling you put on the barrel it still going to tumble and not hitting the target. The SVD were rated up to 800m and by luck you can nail people at 900m+ with it. All it takes is user skills. And it's a classic example of Eastern Bloc military engineering. And it does its job perfectly.

Do you think you're good enough?

Hey Alexander, May I ask whereabouts is the server located? And what's the donation method? And yes, what will be the starting kit :D Thank you EDIT: oh and yes, what's the rules and regulations regarding PvP? Who can I shoot on sight? Can I be the bushgookie all the time or are we all expected to play nice and help out the newcomers?

Game needs a sniper heavier than 7.62

td,dr: we don't need anything bigger than 7.62, since there should be more that fits in the anti-vehicle categories of weapons. And we need more civvies weapons or surplus, with a wider range of accessories and calibers than the current selection ( all but one are military sniper rifles, which are not that common even during emergency anyway. And my staples marksman rifle like the SKS and common SVD are missing)

Might aswell add grenade launcher like HK79 or M79 for anti-vehicle/fortification purpose I found it a tad weird that given we are in the old USSR i haven't seen a lot of hunting weapons and/or soviet bloc weapons yet. Like say, if there were prisons I'd love to see the KS-23 anti riot shotgun (no that was not out of Call of Duty, but still, it's one of the lesser known famous Soviet export) Or say, inside military barracks why could i not find a F1 grenade or mortar shells which was staples of Soviet defensive doctrine (the F1 were strictly limited to guards only due to the 40m lethal radius. Some licensed version are capable ~100m fragmentating radius as I've seen) Another thing was the limited calibers for hunting rifle. What? CZ550? There's Izhmash, Tula, Izhevsk, KBP and a lot more state controlled arsenal in the Soviet than anywhere else in the world. How come I haven't came across Saiga shotguns, Balkal rifle and Tula bolt action yet. The lack of scope was also appaling. I have yet to see any PU scoped hunting rifle, which was very common in the Soviet republics due to the availablity (the scope were mass produced in Krasnogorsk, Kaliningrad and issued by the thousands during WW2, brought back by the crateload by demobbed soldiers and then used for farming and hunting and other agricultural proposes and so on)

Backstabbing is fun. I shit you not, but going on TeamSpeak, pretend to team up with people, then relay their coordinations, locations and whereabouts to your teammate (my cousins and mates) will give you a good experience. Basically you play the unarmed inexperienced bambi that wants to tag along wannabe heroes. I intentionally suicided, get the cousin to retrieve the gear, then running around with a massive flare screaming 'friendly! friendly!' into direct comms. After several try and got sniped 20+ times I finally caught up with a group of 6 heroes that killed my 'assailants' (cousin who intentionally shoot me while I was running around like an idiot) I tag along them, and they picked me up in their helicopters. The idiots didn't know while I was speaking to them in direct VOIP I was typing to my cousins about their whereabouts, speed and attitude and destinations. I tagged along all the way to their camp southwest of NEAF, and while we were landing, I opened the map and got the coordinations from the helicopter (how nice of these guys, letting me sit in the back and mind my own business) Nek minnit 4 bandits were creeping up the hill and start shooting, They thought it was real since they made the mistake of flying low and above the waters and didn't even think I betrayed them. I went to their tents, grab myself a nice shiny AKS74u - tip: identify and use the same weapon as they were using, this'll create confusion as they think you're shooting at the enemy and not them. playing on a harcore/veterans server would help too as it wouldn't show who killed whom. So my cousin start cracking at them, and I went to finish off the wounded instead of 'helping' and shoot their snipers dead. We claimed that said camp, loot all we can and destroy all the tents. To add to the authenticity I ask my cousin to shoot me dead as I noticed a few off them got off the server and joined back in. They thought that it was just a bandit assault and even give me free lifts later! If you were to backstab, do it the classy way. No I'm not a drama queen, but once I backstab it has got to be heroes and all those kind of wankers. And it got to be deadly.

    Bandit Noob i need help

As land based Walrus said, shouting FRIENDLY and then shoot/axe/bit people on sight is a good start on your route to becoming a bandit :P However, I'd suggest you look into these thing: - Reading maps. Plan your journey, know the land, get the visual understanding of the area around you and pretty much the whole of chernarus. It'll greatly help when you're killed, or lost, or just have to run the fuck away from that guy with a M249 spewing rounds all around you. - Be patient. No, I'm not saying that you should jump into the hospital and pretend to be one of those emergency casualties. Patience. Wait for the target to stop, spend time observe him and/or his group. Wait until they're fully unaware of you (signs like running around and onto building carelessly looking for look, stopping frequently, eating food, bandaging and bloodbaging means either they're armed and have somebody overwatch them or just a bunch of fuckwits) - Know your surroundings and adopt the enemy's mindset. During server restart, have a smoke and think ' What would I do if I'm going into a city and there will be bandits around'. Find the flaws in their logics, that'll help you vastly during the conquest of baked beans. Your surroundings can be both a friend and an enemy. Irrational decisions will have you lost all the precious gear. Plan your attack, an infiltrating route and an exfiltrating route. Know what you're going to do. - Master your weapons. Whether it'll be a Lee-Enfield or a AS50, if you can't shoot you can't do shit. This is not COD. It tooks skills to be able to range the target, ultilize the scope, know the muzzle velocity (how fast are your bullets going) and other marksmanship principles to be able to hit hard and hit accurately. I suggests going to the ArmA2 and try the editor - you can pretty much access all the weapons as different characters as well as putting civvies up as human target. - Gather supplies with rational thinking. What's that 5 cans of coke going to last you. How many MREs can you gather. The time spend gathering food and water, as well as going to cities to get those, often cost your lives. It's better to have a few fast food to help you run around, but stock up a canteen, hunting knives, matches and hatchet. Besides, nothing taste better than actual water and meat. Well that's pretty much what keeps me going and trolling people for now. You can choose to have a read through or just go fuck all and grab whichever you can find and blast the absolute shit out of every single survivors you see. But I shit you not, thinking often helps your chance of winning, just as brains over brute force.

Can I Run DayZ Mod? (POST HERE)

Hi people, I'd like to ask a few things about my system, hope you guys are happy to help :D My system is as follows: Xeon 1230 socket 1155 8gb of memory (gskill orange heatspeader kind of stuff) 2x GTX570 running on SLI Intel 60gb SSD 500gb WD hard drive Silverstone 1000w PSU On average I get just 30-35 FPS. Whenever I alt-tabbed out and back into the game there will be usually a 15-20 seconds delay at 'receiving' for the game. It used to be instant. What can I do to improve the frame rates while still maintaining the high viewing distance and details for spotting/sniping work and recce? Thanks in advance guys.

    Hunter/Prey

On nameplate-enable server stalking is a bit easier. If not you just got to remember the outfit, shoot every single person with said outfit and hope you scored that kill. Also people are fucked in the head. They will frequently visit a 'favourite' place. You just need to know which place is that, and I shit you not, more than often they will be loitering around the area.

Don't know why but supermaket grocery trips scare me more than kicking back in the hill and stalk stupid heroes/heliborne bandits/clans now. At least I'll be able to get away or score a hit on them instead of makarov'd by some stupid newspawn (who i have no intention to kill at all, unless they fire at me first)

If you could suicide bomb (in DayZ)

Not speaking in favor of suicide bombing, but I do think a grenade trap is worth it. Basically I'd say grenades has a lot of potential, but at the moment it's taken for granted, as if it's just exploding potatoes. On a Vietnamese DayZ server I remembered we could make improvised landmine by harvesting wood, have a bear trap, saperka and a grenade! Now not only when people step on bear trap, their legs will be smashed bring them to ground but also make them fall on top of the grenade, making it a sure kill. TLDR - pull the pin, tie the spoon to the bear trap and wait for the boom. A grenade basically has a safety pin and a spoon. Pulling the pin let the spoon open to be removed upon impact or during flights. It also means I could tie a string onto the spoon, put the grenade to a likely entrance, remove the pin and wait for any stragglers to come upon my grenade. Another possible application would be bushes or treeline. Who would have known that the perfect bush that offer the best viewpoint are primed? Or I could stuff dead bodies (and car seats, helicopter chairs, truck door, barracks door) with primed grenade, readily explode upon disturbance (i.e, search the body for gear, open the bag and so on) Suicide vests wouldn't be effective unless they have F1 grenades instead of RGOs or M67s. It's fragmentating radius could easily reach 100m+ on flatland and ricochets are deadly. Besides grenades' primary wounding/killing mechanism lay within the concussion and shrapnels. If we have nitrates and fuel and blasting cap in this game then that'd make more sense for the suicide vest idea. What do you guys reckon?
