DE 201 Immersive Gameplay - no 3DP, no Crosshair, whitelist
deathcobra posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Tired of getting spotted from far away in a bush or around a corner? Got killed by a hacker again? Crave for a lag free server? Apply now for DE 201, the oldschool server with whitelist, the server where you know you play with the right guys. No custom stuff, just DayZ, the way you know you like it! Be the first to apply and grab those vehicles right away! To apply, as usual submit your BE ID and Nickname via PM to me. To find your GUID: Type, #beclient guid in to the chat on any Battle Eye enabled server. Note that I will "upgrade" the server to a Private Hive eventually so we can provide you with new maps and keep the game interesting. But that won't happen today or tomorrow. Server is currently running with 1.7.3 and Beta 98866.- 1 reply

I had a similar problem due to a crash of explorer.exe. Try restarting the process and praise Microsoft if it worked.

Yes, I know how the engine works and what the pro and cons are. I also know, that we won't be able to prevent hacker from doing their thing. But my point is, we need more information about players in the logs, things which are possible (and are used) on normal Arma2 servers.

We need to see who killed who, when and where. I get reports from my players that some guy teleports around killing people. They tell my the time and the names of the victims, but with the current logs there is nothing I can do about it. You can provide all of the above information with event handler, but as far as I know, those have to be in the mission file, so we are not able to do anything, since tempering with that gets me blacklisted. This has to be a priority (since the beginning) but is just ignored, it seems. Yes, BE gets better. But that does not help me at all in some cases. There are hundreds of people paying for servers so Rocket and his crew are able to develop the game with as many players as possible, yet no basic tools are provided for those who invest their time and money. Stop adding content as long as there are major problems with such basic things. For every entity added in the game there are new possibilities and holes for hackers, which we are not able to identify. It's depressing. Or maybe I just missed something.

Setting Server Difficulty for Dummies

Replace "expert" with "mercenary" -
Nah, thats correct, doesn't apply always though. Some hacks will simply inject a script and hope for the best, the "better ones" bypass BE and won't be detected by the script.txt. But as one can see in the ban.txt, BE occasionally finds something.

I also added some skin-related stuff and got players kicked who tried putting on a legit ghillie. Turns out the script for changing the skin when you put it on is clientside. Just a heads up.

Nice work Isoterik, thanks. Is the script to write messages on the screen included?
