  1. *raises his hand* Though those were two very small projects for school about 8 and 10 years ago... €: Now that I think about it, I tried to make my own 3D game once using the irrlicht engine. I only got so far to create a small world with a character being able to move around and a 3rd person camera movement. I gave up once I started to create animations and tried to implement those. It was getting to tedious doing everything on your own. Without proper knowledge and help. And last but not least, I was way too lazy and untalented for all the work :D €€: Even before that I was toying around with the RPG Maker and other Gamedevelopment programs or Modkits etc... @RabidTweak below: Animations&Textures - I feel ya bro
  2. Nope. They didn't made us pay. We decided to buy an unfinished product which still is at least a year away from final. They even advised us NOT to buy it.
  3. Yeah a couple of minutes everytime someone gets something wrong or has a question which has been already answered somewere. Be it Twitter,Reddit, the Forums, weekly report or Montly Devblog. You know, most questions asked over and over again have already been answered somewhere. People just don't search for those answers. Or they don't give a damn to understand them. You for example are calling me a fanboy. Yet I am not. I am not even playing as much as i could, because I don't care so much about the game. I don't even think I will like the final release of it because I have other ideas about how to build upon the main idea of a zombie-survival-game. I just have a better understanding of how such work gets done. Or at least I think I have. Our opinions are different about that and thats the only reason you think I am into them. I called myself Ellen Ripley on these forums because I needed a new Nickname, I am not using the same everywhere. And thats what came into my mind for whatever reason, i have no Idea. But you on the other hand seem to know some connection between those two names, was Hicks on of those Marines? I didnt realize there was a connection until you've made me think about it.
  4. I wouldn't mind if they did communicate more about the project of course. But I don't care so much as long as progress is happening. I just don't think its really necessary for them to work 8-12 hours a day on the game and also taking time to write us long statements as how something was meant or why something was done a specific way. Its a waste of time and effort. Some will enjoy those informations but mostly people will start bitching and arguing about it like in here for example. See I would get really tired if people flip every word I say/write around and misinterpret these. Thats causing only more trouble. ( like dean saying he will probably leave bohemia after the alpha phase ) Also they do weekly reports and theres a monthly devblog. Check those out if you haven't already.
  5. Shows their priority on working on the project rather then spending time on explaining everything to their customers actually... Or would you like them to spend money they could invest in a developer/artist into an community manager?
  6. Well acutally we are both speaking about the same bug. People/Zeds becoming invisible. :)
  7. Block Bug = the bug that blocks stable from being released. What do you mean by little development? Things take time to get finished, you'll learn that once you follow some alpha's or even beta's. Dead T-Pose People are a bug in 0.42. It shouldn't happen in 0.37 You clearly have no idea about game developing and never followed any other alphas/betas or game releases. They are getting posponed quite a lot even by guys from Blizzard or whatnot. Nope just regular maintance.... Yeah lying right. 0.42 is awesome to a lot of people. To others not. Thats unfortunate but it will get probably better once the next experimental update arrives. What do you expect them to do or say anyways? They are working on a game, they don't have time to fix every little detail as soon as someone crys. They have something like a plan worked out how to progress on the overall project not to make every new Experimental stable as soon as possible.... People really need to understand that buying an early access game doesn't mean they have any right on regular updates to be playable and more awesome then the previous one. Actually the game developers have more work to do when they allow people to early access. Like maintaining servers and pushing out regular stable builds for players. They did this probably because they needed cash faster then they would be finished with the game but they clearly warned everyone to not buy it. So please people stop complaining already. Its your fault for buying unfinished stuff in the first place. If you are going to rant pls don't do so in threads for experimental releases...
  8. The thing is you dont understand what this thread and firstpost is here for. Its really simple. They are listing all changes between current stable release and current experimental release in the first post. No need to make a new thread for now. AFAIK it was due to invisible zeds/players for some clients on 0.37 At least thats what they said it was...
  9. Maximum is only ranting bullshit. Can someone pls shut him up already? Its really tiresome following this thread with such a person around. @Fortune_Finder Do you know how programming works? Or how complex game development is? Because AFAIK: It would be a huge mistake to make all of the "core" features to work/optimize ( whatever that is from your perspectiv ). Why? Because things will still change drastically when new features are implementend. That means they would have to rework the core then fix/optimize it AGAIN before morving on to the next feature and starting all over again with reprogramming the core fixing it and optimizing and so on and so on. This would only result in less features overall by the end of development. Building the core for every feature first, combining them to work with the whole system without crashing it completly is what they are doing now. Once all core-mechanics of features theyd like to have in the final game are ready they'll start to focus und fixing bugs and optimizing them (which is called beta). Doing it this way theyll have more time to implement more features overall. Btw. I am not sure if I am right but this is how I understand programming/game development from my little knowledge of those things... lol 2 guys explaining the same thing before me I am such a slowpoke :( @Aruze I really hope you are trolling. As if they didnt think about implementing those already... I would really love an option to downvote posts....guess i'll have to use reddit more often.
  10. Performance issues came with 0.42 not 0.37 which is beeing worked on for stable... Only reason why it wasn't released for stable have been problems with invisible players and zeds for some clients. 0.37 was quite stable and had better performance than 0.35
  11. To all those who are complaining about the changelog. This threads first post contains a list of all changes that have been made since the last stable release. As stated in red at the very top of that post. Theres nothing wrong with that! The problem is though the sorting of all changes. They should add those that come later to the bottom of the list. It would make it easier to find and distinguish. Now to those who are _complaining_ about stuff on the experimental build. Please stop using it and stick to the stable branch. To everyone whos stating his experience without beeing judgemental, an idiot or an ass: Keep it on!
  12. See my previous post as why the version number is so much higher See this post Btw: Thanks for the beans
  13. See you are complaining about problems on the EXPERIMENTAL branch. I simply can't understand how anyone can complain about anything thats happening on there. Its purely for a larger scaled testing purpose. Thats how they collect data about their changes and how they behave in a real case. Its not for us End-users to enjoy! Obviously thats what you don't understand. If you can't stand it please for everyones sake don't use the experimental branch. They did not lie. There is a difference between a lie and a statement one could not fulfill due to unforseen problems. This in an Alpha as stated billions of times, performance fixing is not a relevant/priority part of alpha builds. If you can't stand the current builds or perfromance please do not play. And stop complaining. You have been warned several times before buying the Early Access. Even Dean said NOT TO BUY IT YET. Stop complaining like a child. Also check this out: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=216291078#-1 Helped me a lot performance wise... Steam -> Rightclick on Dayz -> Properties -> Betas -> Choose to not participate in any beta
  14. No you can only choose between 0.35 stable or 0.42 Experimental now. Nope. Has been delayed. They want to fix 2 bugs related to players/zombies being invisible to some clients before pushing 0.37 to stable branch.
  15. Man I actually had to log in again just to rant. Whats wrong with all those kids and adults with lacking logic of cognition. How come they can't grasp how game developing is done. For me its quite simple to understand that only because we don't see much difference between 0.37 and 0.42 doesn't mean there is none. There are most likely dozens of changes that are currently inactive because they are not finished. For example physics, hunting, cooking and persistent storage mechanics. Its not like they'll add all of those things once they've finished them, nope. They are already in this builds but unfinished or inactive due to other problems or bugs or whatever reason there might be. Man I wish they would put up an IQ test or something like that for Alpha releases to prevent all this bullshit people state online. It's really annoying and embarrassing how stupid people behave. And to all those complaining about desync or lags. Remember a lot of people are currently rushing the experimental servers, those problems might be related to that rather then the build itself. @ Dean, Hicks and all the others working on this, keep up the good work and do your best to make this game even greater!

    DayZ Mod 1.7.7.1 Hotfix

I am asking out of curiousity: Do any devs still work on DayZ? Because the rolling changelog had no update for 3 Weeks now. Dunno if thats normal or if further work just wasn't added to the next dayz patch...

DayZ Developer Blog 3rd August 2013

Yeah I know how the gameindustry works and what pre-alpha, alpha and beta means. I was just pointing out those things that don't work at all. Though you are right I may have been expecting to much for an pre-alpha build. AFAIK the alpha should come out when all the network issues are handled. At least thats what i remember to have read/heard somewhere.

DayZ Developer Blog 3rd August 2013

Quote from Devblog "And here is the short video. More to follow on the devblog over the weekend." I didnt see anymore coming over the weekend. Also the Vid has some sweet points. The Graphics do look nice so far in my opinion. But most of those Animations still look quite bad and the Zeds still behave stupid and out of control which is quite a bummer. Hope we will see improvements on this parts fast. Because as of now this "Standalone" still looks like a mod with many bugs. Nothing which would encourage me to buy it. I'd expect more of a standalone, features like Origins got them with more vehicles and modifications on those. Not only weapon mods. Which is nice but doesnt suite the whole "Im a normal person trying to survive" purpose. I do hope there will be more to do then just trying to stay alive or killing each other.
