Been there a few times, got up the ladder once, sunndenly saw a fucking bandit, immediatly shot him. he was stocking up vehicle gear to repair a non existing vehicle. Other time i found a truck with no wheels that had like 60 grenades in it, i stocked up on grenades as much as i could and they came in handy in a 2vs1 fire fight later on

The way I see it, if i see someone today and let him go, just cause i'm nice. he's going to go on get good gear get bored then stalk and kill me down the line. I try to keep my turf in my server nice and clean. -

Well, here we go. Alpha 1.7.1 is out and people are spawning with a flash light and no weapons, but the other big factor is that people can sort of tell bandits now with the heart beat feature, The current average life length is sitting on 33 after climbing up from 29 in a little over a week. What do you think will happen to the life expectancy in the next 2 weeks? My guess is that in a week it will be down to 22 or so, any guesses? It will be fun to keep up guessing as new version of Day Z come out, I love the way Rocket just wings it right now and tries anything he feel may work. UPDATE: 1.7.1 update winner - ImaffoI 1.7.2 winner - still to come

Ok we have a winner for the 1.7.1 update life expectancy change (not spot on but he came closest) its: ImaffoI who guessed 28 which was the closest to 31. Anyone have guesses for the first week of the 1.7.2 update? here's the change log: Changelog: * [FIXED] Infected hear perfectly through objects (noise reduced by 50% through an object) * [FIXED] Animal bodies despawn way too fast (now despawn automatically after 2 minutes) * [FIXED] Corrupted update data causes people to spawn in debug forest (now will not save corrupted position data) * [FIXED] States where animal might stop walking around (now should walk around more) * [FIXED] Animal AI routines consuming large amounts of FPS (now in line with Infected AI routines, reduced FPS usage) * [NEW] Player Syncing system replaced (increased performance and ammo quantity tracking) * [FIXED] Error reports are almost invisible (has now been fixed) * [FIXED] Daylight calculations causing slight FPS issue * [NEW] Visibility now smoothly alters based on sun, moon, cloud, rain, and fog state * [NEW] Aubility now dampened in rain and increased by fog * [FIXED] Object cleanup causing significant (huge) performance issue on servers (reduced by up to 50%, means more players + zombies possible) I would actually say that by next monday the expectancy will plateau and then drop by 1 by next monday (a week after the patch) so my guess is 30 Anybody else wants to take a chance? -

Its already friday and were down to only 31 (last sunday was 33 counting sunday to sunday) we did have a lot of changes though in the last week, and I realize that the changes did not changes AVG life expectancy that much. I think we underestimated the counting out of insta-deaths So far ImaffoI and Logan20 were closest at 28 minutes, i don't see it getting below that Maybe all the people logging in the weekend will bring it down, who knows! stay tuned -
There needs to be clear indications of who is good and bad.

My experience with dell (makes Alienware computers too) was not good I had an XPS for gaming which worked like shit and died real quick so far i have a Macbook Pro 2009 and i game on bootcamp, working pretty well for me. -
Eternalizing your character and a little side note about "bandit control"

Right now when you lose, you lose everything and only left with screenshots if you've taken any or videos (that's probably why everyone records a lot!) I believe this already passed the mind of the development team but thought I'd pitch in anyway. The idea is that when you die your character will be eternalized in another menu screen from the main menu where you would be able to browse through different details at any point Gear: you would be able to look at the gear you had when you died Stats: various statistics, more than is showed in game, stuff that you would be curious to see and would only be able to see when you are dead (would make dying a bit less brutal) think outside the box, so stuff like "Cities Visited". Path taken: you can track the path that the player took and show it on the map or show which cities hes visited (think indiana jones traveling sequence) Death: details on how you died and where. I suggested some of this would be open ended for the player to fill in as sometimes it is really a mystery what happend and you died from some random gunshot, so the player can fill it in to make it more personal and maybe even learn a lesson or to on how or why you died Journal: there is already some sort of Journal in game, but its not what i'm thinking about. i suggest to create some sort of a "Diary" for the player where he can summarize what happend today and he's plan for tomorrow, who he is traveling with... etc. This would all display in the "eternalized player" screen after he's dead At this point you can get a lot of options to show achievements done by this specific character, medals earned or whatever you want to call it. this is a good way to encourage certain kinds of gameplay (whichever gameplay you want to encourage) which brings me to my little side note: shot on sight is an issue to some people, so far i've spared a some people but after teaming up with a few and finding more about them I realized i spared future bandits who are just hunting for gear to become ones, obviously later on in the game you guys will implement Higher causes and goals to cooperate and fight zombies. But right now I would like to see bandits spawn in their next "life" with less equipment than survivors. of course people would just kill themselves twice to fix this. so maybe you can use something like 24HR spawns with less equipment. the worse your humanity was, the harder you are going to have it next time around. *I read around a lot of suggestions, and sorry if any of what I suggested was already said by others Thats enough for me rambling about, I understand the eternalizing screen is not a top priority in an Alpha build, but I just wanted to get the ball rolling and get some discussion going on what you guys like to see in that screen. Thanks, i think its pretty much a given and would probably be done one day by the DayZ team. The great thing about it is that after all your hard work on the character you would at least have something to show for it and have a look and remember details you forgotten, as well as sharing it with others! -

Ok, 2 days after the patch and seems to have only went down to 32 were we all off? is it actually going to increase by Sunday? no more spawners running around with makrovs going for broke will raise the life span? seems logical. -

yeah, it sort of is like the HDR affect with eyes getting used to brightness but in reverse In my army service i've walked in every possible kind of night plus in heavy fog and it was never as bad as the night right now in DayZ (no moon currently)

Stonager, I love your ideas on that thread, taking over building setting up barricades should be a part of a zombie survival game i think. right now it sort of collides with the persistent character location and server moving but i have a feeling that it would eventually find it's way into DayZ. I am all for having to cooperate to obtain larger objectives like clearing out a whole city out of zombies to sort of "get it back" and fighting off hordes that attack the city. That would unite the players a bit more and will be challenging. I can already hear players talking about "We held up Stary for 2 weeks!". That could totally had a whole new layer to the game. -
Good idea, only that i already am paranoid and i hear shit that's not there! so no software solution needed :) i'm fucking wired most of the time in high risk situations
