Having intensively played the mod a couple of days, I don't think the unarmed start is a good idea. The good thing is location priority for many advanced players has changed to be more logical. First you take care of the tools, bags, food, medical supplies, then you go at the NW airport or Stary Sobor. Used to be just go straight north since the supplies allowed it. The bad thing is it seems like people stopped caring. Aggro a zombie? Run into a building. No gun? Press respawn. Break a bone? Press respawn. Bleed and you already used your only bandage? Respawn. I think it's made the game not so much more challenging, but rather more tedious.

Hotfix Build 1.7.1.4 Rolling Update (was 1.7.1.3)
Diwwah replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
It's finally good. Awesome! :D I had zero confirmed issues playing for several hours tonight. I only had one suspicion of an endlessly respawning zombie horde but couldn't confirm. Balance-wise, I think zombies hear a crouch-running character too well. They don't see shit in the night-time but they aggro to noise from too far I think. -
rocket elaborate? HAHAHAHAHAHA! oh and HAHAHAHAHAHA! Going to have to find out on our own me thinks. ^^ this Fck U Dolan

Please elaborate.

"[FIXED] Duplicate players not being removed (should now be removed on login)" Would it now be possible to implement the disconnect timer? Or did I misunderstand this fix?
-
It can be disabled by application developers. But it hardly takes longer to just abort normally.
-
Think of it like this. Alpha testing and bug reporting is work. Having fun with the game is the free time. Since 1.7.0, having fun with the game hasn't been easy with all the desyncing and/or broken things. If players don't get their "free time", they're not willing to do the "work".
-
I think most people realize this. It's just that we REALLY like the game and would REALLY like to play it just to enjoy it once in a while. This has been a bit difficult since 1.7.0. Notice that this is not a demand, just a statement. We love the game, it hasn't been very playable for a while now. That's it.

1.7.1.2: Dropping weapon drops ~60 hatchets + crashes server?
Diwwah replied to ThagaSa's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Hotfix the hotfix for the hotfix of your patch, Dolan. -
I'm more amused at the prospect of killing snipers camping in their bushes with it.
-
New features that then need to be hotfixed, LOL. :)
-
Does this mean the 5sec DC timer is viable and even implemented again?
-
That still leaves disconnecting as a valid PvP tactic. Losing some food/water level is always preferable to dying.
-
Sounds reasonable to me. But then I'll always pick the option that rarely screws over innocent players but always prevents PvP DC rather than the option that never screws anyone over but only rarely prevents PvP DC.
-
Oh, so are you one of those types who collects some food and water, travels to an unfrequented part of the map and just stands around for hours to "survive"?
-
-
Hotfix your hotfix Dolan!

Guys, I don't think the secret prone nerf was to prone visibility but rather something else. Someone already suggested something. I'm sure prone movement in grass will remain at one bar of visibility. He wouldn't go back to invisibility mode, would he? I'm glad he decided to drop crouch visibility though. I think the original nerf was a bit overkill with two additional bars of visibility added.
-
NNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I was really hoping this went smoothly. Q_Q The dropping of stuff when picking up weapons is quite annoying, I hope there's something that can be done about that.

We believe you. Really.

DayZ 1.7.1 Discussion - Others will be locked/deleted!
Diwwah replied to Tigerr13's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I feel like zombie aggro range from crawling position is fine. The eye icon used to be 0 lines, now it's 1 while crawling in grass. This changes the player from invisible to stealthy. However, moving in a crouch position in grass now produces 3 lines. It used to be 1. I think this is the main problem with the change. It forces players to drop prone much earlier when approaching zombies and looting becomes more of a hassle though not that much more of a challenge since crawling is still quite effective. I suggest dropping crouched visibility by one line. This will not make the player invisible again, as crawling remains as it is, but it will reduce the random aggros from 50m away when traveling and reduces the boring downtime from crawling everywhere. -
Mad zombie spawning but fix already incoming. Stealthing is no longer viable. Proposing compromise between new and old zombie detection range.
-
I think right now the issue is the broken respawning. Further evaluation can be made once that is fixed.

Very flawed logic. If nobody would ever complain and simply just leave the game, Rocket would be left wondering why most of his players disappeared. As in business, a complaining customer is valuable to the company because they'll know where to improve.
