combat logging: a constructive thread ?

I'm sure there still would be some people who will try to combat log via plugging off their router cable or even the power cable from their PC -
Agreed

combat logging: a constructive thread ?
Gdaddy22 replied to Betabyte (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
What about this: If your game crashes, due to power off, connection, or combat logging, you can't log into ANY server for the next 30 minutes. People who aren't CL but got a real crash would also have to wait 30 minutes, but ... bad luck mate. -
It's probably because they are new to the new standalone system, when they will get bored which will happen really fast since the game is too easy, they will start KoS
-
We talked about padlocks alot, the only problem i see here is that if it's supposed to be realistic, you could break a padlock very easily with crowbar, fire axe, gun, or anything, making it too easy to break.
-
Yes it would fix alot. People would stop "farming" other players, but use their guns only in dangerous situations or when they are sure that the other guy has guns or ammo so their bullets won't waste

combat logging: a constructive thread ?

Finally ! Someone created a thread about comat logging ! I was waiting for so long -
It's not that hard Rocket (combat logging comment)
Gdaddy22 replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
It wouldn't fix it. There will be people who quit via pressing alt+f4. -
Because we all want DayZ to be a game where you have to work with other players in order to survive, not just shoot them
-
It's because it's mostly upgraded mod
-
Rubber bullets, paralyzers, putting people into sleep, sounds good for me
-
I can see how PvE servers would work. 1.Get on a PvE server 2. Get the best gear in the game without worrying about anything at all 3. Once you have everything go back to a PvP server 4.Shoot everything that moves
-
I'm sure it would benefit from removing zombies

I just got a new idea that could help reduce KoS just a little bit 1. Make the map much bigger 2. Create more cities with loot tables like Cherno or Elektro, so people wouldn't only focus on these 2 cities and spread all over the map. 3. Change the spawning locations. Why only spawn at the coast ? We could also spawn somewhere northwest or in the middle of the map. Implying devs will make more interesting towns/villages that wouldn't force people to suicide because they wouldn't find anything good there, that would work very good. Some people said that spawning at the beach is realistic. but so is spawning everywhere else. How would that help with reducing KoS ? The main idea is to make it very hard to find any players at all, so If you ever find a player somewhere in the woods you would be like "OH GOD, IT'S A PLAYER !!!, not like "a player, gotta kill him"

Discussion : KoS Mentality and how to keep it to minimum
Gdaddy22 replied to LeoIvanov's topic in General Discussion
Another KoS thread, and again I have to say the same thing over and over. To even think about reducing KoS, we need to add more things to do in the game once we've reached endgame. Maybe some day all those people will understand that if we want DayZ to be a good game we have to do something about KoS. -
Has anyone tried to start a group of friendlies? to combat KOS players?
Gdaddy22 replied to lord3n's topic in General Discussion
No, the endgame is either to kill anything that moves for no reason or try to help other people. When you help other people they get to an endgame and they have the same choice, and the boring circle between killing people and helping people goes forever. There is really nothing else to do, like focusing on your character and making it better, and better over a very long time. Also I wish our character's life would have greater value, because right now it's like I'm having some items everyone else already has and that are all over the map, If I die, I don't care, I'll just pick them up again. We need something that would make our character special and that would allow us to put lots of hard work into our character. Imagination won't help, I can pretend that I'm saving the world but I'm not so... -
I think it's a pretty bad feature. I know it helps to reduce fps drops, but I think we should at least modify this. A possible solution: A player logs out, and the zombies are still there for let's say 15 minutes, then they dissapear. This would prevent people from doing cancerous combat logs in order to send all the zombies around into different universe, and being able to loot everything around with no threat.
-
Then I didn't even notice that lol, my bad
-
Usually killing people because "surviving" by picking up stuff from ground without any threat from zombies is just 0 fun and it's so easy that surviving isn't even considered as objective, it's just something you have to do in order to keep playing the game
-
That sounds like hardcore and desperate pay2win

The problem with KoS is that it exists not only because it's an only way to survive, but because there is nothing else to do in the game after you find weapons. -
I somehow agree with you OP, I don't think it's unrealistic if there is a very little chance of finding a gun in a regular house, what If somebody left it there ?
-
disheartened and disappointed someone explain ? D:
Gdaddy22 replied to kstrife's topic in General Discussion
1. Items should be rare, they should be even more rare. Right now there isn't many ways to get food, I think that later when hunting, gathering, fishing etc will be added It would be easier to get food on your own. 2. It's still early alpha, more zombies will be added and they will be improved. Also it's good that you don't see any players so often. 3. You will learn everything about the map if you play more, I can tell where I am in the first second I spawn without even looking at map. If you find it so hard you can google a map. 4.This has beed said over 1000 times, they wiill probably change the time in which you're becoming hungry/thirsty. Till then, when you are hungry or thirsty, eat or drink till you are full and you won't have to eat or drink as often then -

I've been trying to help everyone I meet for 2 days, just to show people that KoS isn't necessary, I think I'm alone though
