DayZRP.com - role playing servers [DayZRP Mod|Roleplaying|Events|Strict Whitelist|Player Camps|Trade Post]
ActionManZlt replied to ElRolle's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
The DayZRP team recently set up a temporary (~3 hours) server to host a special PvE event, where the many clans on the server put aside their PvP grudges to defend against a horde of many thousand zombies :D -
You downloaded some dodgey non-official software, optimistically from a link you found on YouTube (or pessimistically from googling "***"), which was actually a trojan-horse that has stolen your CD-Key. The author of the trojan horse then used your CD-Key to be a cheating bastard, or they on-sold it to some noob who used to to be a cheating bastard. Now, your CD-Key is banned. If this is true, it will not be un-banned. Battle Eye will say that it's your fault for letting tojan-horses onto your PC and letting your CD-Key be stolen. It's most likely that the ban is valid (someone used your key to cheat)... in which case your problem is actually that you're a victim of theft. If someone steals your car, you don't go asking the manufacturer to give you a new one --- so it's very unlikely that you'll be given a new CD-Key. You'll probably have to buy the game again, and not let thieves into your PC again. Or call the FBI and wait for them to laugh...

Neither are a practical anti-zombie weapon. A hatchet is better.

It's a roleplay server, you can't kill without reason. After the bandit started making demands of the OP (drop your gun, etc), he could either go along with it (like he did), or he could spin around and shoot the bandit on the spot for initiating a robbery... or he could be awesome and pretend to comply while hanging onto a grenade. As for the bandit, he could only shoot the OP if he failed to comply with a demand. If he was watching his prisoner, he could've shot him the moment he pulled the pin on that grenade, but he was distracted by the zeds ;) It's a rule-set that makes for a lot of very fun encounters.

It's $25 for A2 Combined Operations (which is A2 plus A2:Arrowhead). If you're stingy, you can save $5 by just buying A2:Arrowhead for $20 and then fuck around merging it with Arma 2 Free edition.

Best way to occupy yourself during sniping

Except that most snipers don't even claim the loot, because they've already got a few tents full of duped high-end gear and are just trolling for huey fuel. -

The announcement was that there wouldn't be another announcement before June. -

Yeah the movement and general behaviour of the zombies has changed a lot since the early versions. P.S. GOD is confused because the mod was released mid last year, so apparently she is not the only person who is omnipotent and omnipresent ;) -
Decrease the spotting via Sound

Medium speed instead of all-out sprinting towards noises is a good idea ;) Are you sure you were crouch-running on grass though? Sometimes the grass gives way to hard dirt or concrete, which was extremely noisy to run on before this patch. -
On XP or earlier, fullscreen will always be slightly faster than windowed. On newer OSs, fullscreen may be slightly faster than windowed.

Can't get into DayZ server

Is the problem the wrong A2Beta version, or the wrong DayZ version? -

Another way of playing (SURVIVAL VS SHOOTER)
ActionManZlt replied to Last_Survivor's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
People who just shoot everyone for fun are griefers. If dying has an even bigger penalty, then that's actually giving griefers more encouragement to kill people!! They're goal is to troll. What you really should be suggesting is to attach some kind of sensible penalty to killing people that makes it harder for you to survive in the long run. P.S. play on a RP server to re-discover what DayZ was like originally, before the community got cancer. People still kill each other, but usually it's when trying to stop a robbery, not just killed-on-sight by a sniper on a far hill (who doesn't even want your loot). -
What? O_o

Question from Gaming magazine: Why is permadeath fascination

Experiencing the emotion of loss, and the fear that stems from that possibility. -

Wait, wait. Wait. You just sit on a hill, with a sniper, waiting for a target. Playing I-spy. You camp in a hill, waiting for someone to walk into your scope, to shoot them. Meanwhile you play I-spy. What the fuck kind of boring game is that? Why don't you play something actually fun, rather than sitting on a dayz hill? Arma 2 even? -

DayZRP.com - role playing servers [DayZRP Mod|Roleplaying|Events|Strict Whitelist|Player Camps|Trade Post]
ActionManZlt replied to ElRolle's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
This is the best server I've played on. It's exactly how DayZ felt right when it was new. When DayZ first came out, it was about surviving the zombie apocalypse with the major theme of what happens to social interactions in this situation. It was useful to have friends, so you'd hardly ever be shot on sight - you could walk up to people and introduce yourself. Often you'd be threatened or shot at, and/or the introductions would take place from behind cover, but people did actually talk to strangers. DayZ as it is now, has devolved into Arma 2 deathmatch (with zombies). Maybe that's the point though -- that this is exactly how society would collapse over time... The game is a social experiment I guess, and the way that the DayZ "society" has changed over time is the results of that experiment... Anyway, in the RP environment, it's allowed me to again capture that feeling of experiencing DayZ for the first time. In a few hours of playing, I've seen a man fall to his death and be eaten, grouped up with another wounded survivor (who I healed and armed), been chased out of town by Z's, saved by a clan who gave me the location of the HQ if I want to meet them later, swarmed by Z's in another town and 'rescued' by guys in a flatbed truck who then nearly robbed me for my CZ, jumped from a moving truck and hid in a forest, etc... All of these events were way more interesting than being long-range sniped in Cherno for no reason. -
Where did you hear that? The last announcement was that we definitely shouldn't expect it any time before June. It's pretty silly to interpret "not before June" as meaning "it is coming out in June"... There will be a closed alpha before public alpha too, so I wouldn't expect to have your hands on it for 2-6 months, or more :P

Definition of Alpha stage.
ActionManZlt replied to Serious Stan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Pre-alpha is any internal development build. Alpha is a usable internal development build. You can play the game, but it will be incomplete and broken. Parts will be testable. Beta is feature complete. You can play the game, but it will likely have broken bits. Release Candidate is a beta build that has passed a series of tests, and is going through final checks to see if it can become the 'gold' version. Gold is the version that gets printed. https://en.wikipedia...ease_life_cycle The dayZ mod will likely not make it to beta for a long time, if ever, because it's basically been abandoned by the developers during the alpha stage and left to the community to tinker with. If the community ever decides to stop adding features, then you could call it a beta, and if all the bugs get fixed (which won't happen), you could drop the "beta" qualifier. The DayZ SA is currently internal alpha too, and will likely go through a private beta test before release. It's likely to be one of these "never-ending beta" products too though, as it's continually worked on by the develoeprs as we play it... -
Why is the NE Airfield so lame?
ActionManZlt replied to bfisher's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I got my current red dot M4 and AKM at the NEAF :P It's a shorter trip back to supermarkets and the capitals too. -
I've just gotten my rift dev kit and have been mucking around a lot with it.The stereo-3D works using side-by-side rendering (left side of the screen is seen by left eye, right side by right eye) so there's no frame-rate requriement for stereo-3D. The 3D effect would look fine at 15fps ;) Of course, rendering everything twice (once for each eye) is going to hurt your fps, so they could always include an option to display the same picture in both eyes if your GPU isn't up to the task. The recommendation for 60fps is mostly for the head-tracking. I've been using a TrackIR5 in Arma for years, which is an existing head-tracker, and with it, I've never had any problems using it at low frame-rates. However, the oculus is very different. Because of it's huge field of view and stereo vision, when you put it on, you really do feel like you're in another place suddenly! When you add head-tracking to this, any amount of latency at all makes you feel sick. When you use it at 60fps, you can look around in these virtual worlds as if they are real, you move your head, and you can see new stuff... But when the game is running at 30fps, you move your head, and there's a barely-noticable delay in your vision catching up with the movement. It's very subtle, but after a few minutes, your brain decides that you've been poisoned, and will make you feel nauseous in an attempt to get rid of the "poison" for anywhere from a few minutes to a few days, depending on the person. It's not pleasant. In my first day of experimenting with it, I gave myself "sea sickness" that lasted for about 12 hours, despite never having motion sickness from games ever in the past. I've never had these problems with the TrackIR, because the experience of using head-tracking on a monitor is still very non-real, just like gaming always has been. Your brain isn't fooled by it. But the oculus really does start to fool your brain into thinking you're in a real place, and if you don't fool it well enough, you may be sick (depending on your tolerance to sea sickness). P.S. this gadget is amazing. When the consumer version comes out, and when games start to support it, I'd definitely recommend getting one.

I thought TOH + DayZ was called DayZ SA?

What do you guys consider an acceptable ping?
ActionManZlt replied to warmonger917's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Preferably 50ms, but I usually play with 200-300ms without too many issues.
