  1. Clipping into objects and taking massive damage has always been present in the Arma series, so it's safe to call it a feature.Just role play it. Your guy tripped over while vaulting and hit his head and also broke his leg. That's what this game is about.
  2. Hey, I'd alt+F4 too, but that doesn't change the fact that using it to avoid death is an exploit. Yeah it can be argued that exploiting to fight bugs instead of fighting zombies/players is ok... but you're still using an exploit to bend the rules of the game to your own enjoyment, instead of accepting the rocket rape train. As for whether the OP had his leg broken by a bug or not, it's not known to us. It could also be argued that breaking your leg by tripping over rocks is a feature of the game, not a bug :P This is a game about role-playing after all. Plenty of my characters have met their fate after tripping over, instead of being eaten or shot. Most post-apocalyptic deaths would likely be mundane conditions turned fatal due to lack of paramedics / modern medicine.

    Darn Hackers But happy.

Please punctuate, or when I read your stream-of-conciousness, I put my own punctuation in the wrong places and have fun pretending you're speaking jibberish.

I Shot A Zombie And It Said It Hurts?

It's a leftover from the Arma2 pain system. Wounded characters mutter certain phrases from time to time. I guess DayZ simply hasn't disabled it.
  5. Using Alt+F4 to avoid death is an exploit. End of story.

    Constant teleports

Why on earth would you use hacks?Wait, is there a hack to protect you from hackers? Like... one that detects other hackers and gives them a blue-screen-of-death while formatting their hard-drive?
  7. ActionManZlt

Alpha testing is over for mod

As long as they fix the blatant hacking issues in the standalone version, who here won't be happy?!

I died and resurrected in a new session

When you died, the server's connection to HIVE must've failed, so it wasn't able to communicate the fact that you actually died, and hive was left thinking that you were only injured and close to death. No idea why the unconsciousness lasted for so long though.

I died and resurrected in a new session

That's what's supposed to happen when you log out during 'shock' -- next log in you're unconcious for 5 minutes. Wait it out.

    Why wont my flashlight work?

It doesn't work if your FPS is too low. Look straight down at the ground so that your FPS improves temporarily, then your L key will start working again... Woo Arma engine!

Complaints about X is too hard

This is the answer to every QQ thread.

    dayz clan clothes

Would be a cool extension to add to squad.xml
  13. How fast is your CPU? Older (low GHz) quad-cores will probably run Arma worse than a fast (high GHz) dual-core. Try these: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/forums/showthread.php?5611-README-Notable-Arma-2-tweaks

    Bandit/Survivor Morphing to be removed

Did you play when the bandit-morphing was in the game? The reason it was pulled out was because it didn't work.Whenever a "bandit player" died, they'd respawn with a makarov and a clean survivor skin -- they'd then run up to the first "friend" that they see and murder them. That "friend" has no way of knowing that they're a bandit. Same goes for the next 4 victims. Eventually, after their killing-spree, they're put in a "bandit" skin, but are probably already geared up with a long-range weapon.... Meanwhile, you play as the good survivor who never shoots first... However, other "survivors" keep trying to kill you with their makarovs, and you return fire and defend yourself. After fighting off 5 bandits, and feeling like a real bad-ass survivor, your good survival skills are rewarded by you wrongfully being put in a "bandit" skin! It did nothing to stop KOS behaviour -- you still couldn't trust people in the "survivor" skin. All it did was punish players who had survived a long time by (rightly or wrongly) making them a target. The morality/bandit system is still in the game (just pretty useless without the skin changing), so it's pretty safe to guess that Rocket will bring it (or a faction system) back into the game once he's figured out one that's less broken than the original.

    wtf is this post?

    defibrillator in the game.

Regarding defib as part of a medical sequence performed by an ally -- why not just use epi-pens for this role. e.g. to revive a "dead" player, you need an ally with an epi-pen (and all the same animations, etc, previously mentioned). Regarding the blood level when a human will become unconscious -- this is already implemented in the game as beginning 5000/12000 blood (a bit below the realistic level for cardiac arrest) and becoming extremely serious at 2000/12000 blood. And the current medical system is already designed around requiring the help of your allies (to revive you) once you're at this level of injury.

what exactly is end game in dayz?

There's plenty of "endgame" activities to do at the moment, but the most epic ones all revolve around trying to form larger and larger social groups. Found a clan, create defensive structures, facilitate trade or guards-for-hire or medical services.

what exactly is end game in dayz?

The endgame is spawning a new character.

    Silenced Sniper Rifles

Suppressed, scoped .22 rifle with sub-sonic rounds -- yes, ok. It wouldn't be an unfair PvP weapon at >200m, so go for your life.... It would actually be a hell of a lot of fun to have people trying to have a shoot-out with these -- a great sniper could still drop a man in one shot, but in the hands of an average player, there'd be a lot more chance for people to only be injured in gunfights, and have engagements last longer than a few seconds, with a chance for both parties to get a few volleys of shots in... But a modern silenced sniper rifle worthy of a spec-ops military team? No... no, no. No... If yes, it should be ridiculously rare, and only introduced after the exploits that make "rarity" not matter are fixed.

    defibrillator in the game.

That's an interesting idea.Coincidentally, it's the same as the current system, except that in the current system, your brain never fully starves to death (it dies and comes back in a cycle until you're revived), and everyone starts with an invisible defibrillator! Wow!
  21. lol nice one! great charicature of the stereotypical american!oh wait, you're serious? oh...
  22. ActionManZlt

    defibrillator in the game.

You missed the part where (1) it doesn't fit with the "realism-inspired" blood-based health system, AND (2) there is already a freaking revive mechanic so defib is redundant. At 1/12000 blood you are already "dead", ok? * You still need your friends to come and save you at that point, and there's no realistic 3 minute timer to race against! * Assuming you've used the "pause injury" button (i.e. bandage), they can take as long as they like to revive you! * You even get to be concious most of the time while your brain is being starved of oxygen (but contrary to realism, doesn't rot)! The "REALISM"-based unrealistic medical system already implements the feature that's being asked for, so adding a defib either means: * Replace the existing system with BF3-style death/revive, where defib within 10 seconds = infinite lives. Seems too fast paced for a game this slow-paced, you'd never get to your friends in time if not right next to them, and in that case, the existing system still works fine. * Add an extra requirement to using a blood-bag that the target has to be "dead" (<2k blood), and you need to posses a new defib tool to use it. ...and both of those do nothing to improve the game experience for me. It just makes it harder to revive someone. No, it's the people who demand that DayZ copy systems straight out of [insert game name here] that are afraid of change. You're suggesting the replacement of game rules that you've not even learn to play by yet.

    Watching a Helicopter Crash

If you go place a chopper in the editor, along with a jeep hidden in a forest (say, at someone's secret campsite), then the chopper can pick up the jeep using it's radar fairly easily... which means that once you find a fuelled chopper, your friends can steal all the other vehicles on the server.
  24. Yes, it's everybody else. The people who fled England to the US spoke a strange uncommon 17th century dialect of English where "zee" was used for some unknown reason. That dialect died out in Europe soon after. Some Aus/NZ use Zee by accident sometimes, simply because we're all raised with Sesame Street singing the American alphabet song (which requires "Z" to rhyme with "V" and "me"). It's especially common in the younger generations who're overexposed to American television, so you do see both pronounciations used, but "zee" is basically just slang/informal for "zed". The rest of the word also knows how to pronounce aluminium :P
  25. You mean, except American? Is it really this common for Americans to not know that Zed is the English name for that letter??
