Wait, this isn't Daish the troll from the SC2 forums, is it? -
IMPORTANT: Tents will be wiped in update 1.7.1.5
ActionManZlt replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I've played probably several days worth of hours now, and have only ever seen one tent spawn as loot (I've had 1 other tent too, which I stole from another player...) They seem VERY rare. -
Make sure you hide it well, and use the 'save vehicle' option. It should stay until the server dies or someone steals it.

Learn to play / adjust your play style? I've spawned 3 new characters since the patch, and each of them has easily gotten basic starting gear together. The new zombie AI does make this playable, because running is now an option in the new patch -- as an unarmed civilian, you actually can run and hide in urban areas now (or at least I did, 3 times).Yes, one time I was killed by a bandit, but that was after I'd scavenged a revolver/food and I did walk into his flare, so it was fair.

Keey side-chat until radios are introduced. Then remove it, and make people find radios. -
If I had a dollar for every time my leg broke...
ActionManZlt replied to alexahr2008's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've had a few broken legs from the ladder bug in an older version... In a dozen hours of regular game-play, I think I've stepped off a ledge by accident and broken a leg once, helped another person who was down, once, and have been given broken bones by zombies only rarely (could go days without it happening) -- and each time I had morphine. In the new patch where you don't spawn with morphine, it makes it more important to raid a hospital ASAP to last in the long-term. Rule #1 - Cardio. If you've got more pissed off zombies than you can currently shoot at' date=' [b']RUN, don't even think about doing anything about them until your character is running away from the horde. Even if you're bleeding, there's no point applying a bandage while the zombies are still eating you, you've got to run into a large building to buy time, or otherwise lose them (or if you're weak you can just log out while bleeding :p).If you're raiding a city, run for the loot you're looking for. Get in, grab it while the zombies figure out the door (they don't walk through walls as much in the new patch, and might even open doors before walking through them). Large buildings like warehouses, fire-stations, supermarkets and offices can be used to quickly grab some loot (probably not all of it) and lose the horde that's chasing you. If it's a dense city, run through fence gates and alleyways -- changing direction and losing LOS should get some off your tail. N.B. you might want to start walking again if on noisy surfaces (assuming you gain a bit of a lead by running around a corner/etc), because the noise from you running on concrete will still let the zombies know where you are after you've lost them. Try not to run into buildings with only one entrance though, unless it's manageable -- e.g. having only 1 zombie chase you around a table so you can get back out the door. If you're in the country-side, then just keep running the direction you were heading anyway. If there's any obstacles, like rocks/fences/trees around, you can use these to gain a second to turn around and take a shot (if you've got a weapon), or you can just weave through them anyway with the small chance of losing the zombie. Zombies can have trouble figuring out how to get up hills/etc, so you can use the terrain to get away usually while still travelling. If you were heading to a town to loot it, you can just sprint into it with zombies chasing you (follow the above about alleys and fences and buildings), but any players around are going to be watching the scene with interest. -
Constantly spawning in Debug Forest (Plains edition)
ActionManZlt replied to digwood's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I got the same thing. Had a coyote, DMR, GMP, etc... spawned without anything in these "debug plains". Apparently you can run south-east (use the stars or sun) for 10km and you'll be back in Chernarus, but there's not much point if all your gear is gone. There is a thread to report this bug, where the dev's used to fix your character if you posted your ID (on your Arma player profile dialog), but they've stopped reading the thread / fixing characters it seems... so we're fucked. -
I get those type of messages all the time (not that one specifically), in DayZ and in regular Arma. I think that one is related to a particular player on the server having customised their profile in some way?

[Report] Spawned in Wilderness/Debug Forest/Endless Ocean
ActionManZlt replied to stephen.p.farrer@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Spawning in barren wilderness with empty inventory. Would rather not respawn if possible ;) Name: |SG|ActionMan ID: 1893254 I was doing really well for the first time since playing too! Screens here from this vid. I'd just recorded it and logged off near Vybor, then took a break and switched to another 1.7.1.2 server when my spawn broke. -
It's Impossible to See at Night! - Other threads will be locked/deleted!
ActionManZlt replied to daish's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, with the new patch, your gamma is forced to normal levels, and you basically can't see without the moon. However, during the full moon, you can see at night with regular gamma settings. So the new patch has created two different kinds of night to go with day settings. The servers will cycle back and forth between pitch-black night (and people wishing they had a gamma hack) and between playable night. -

ActionManZlt replied to daish's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
N.B. For all those who haven't realised yet, the Arma moon follows a realistic cycle. When I played the other day, it was a new moon, meaning it's very dark. On nights where it's a full moon, then you *can* see at night, just like you should be able to by moonlight. -
ok...

WTH IS WRONG WITH THIS LAST PATCH???
ActionManZlt replied to Vitor (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
The new spawn gear is fantastic. I had a newly spawned old char (makarov, painkillers, bandages, etc), but I respawned to meet up with a friend, even though I knew I'd get the new crappy starting gear. The new starting gear is better. By the end of that night, I had an AK with 3 mags and food/water for the next login, plus a few tools -- so it's still very playable. Also, I was playing on a moonless night, which was arguably unplayable before (so say the night-hate threads) -- but now I had a great co-op experience. My friend had a shotgun while I still just had the flashlight, when we pulled zombies near a town, I had to stick close and cover targets with my light so he could shoot them. If I ran, we were both blind in the dark, and if he ran, I'd have no defense (and have to lose the zombies through buildings, etc). Actually made another person symbiotic, instead of just a back-stab-threat. If you don't start with any gear, it makes spending bullets on hunting newbies less efficient. A lot of your early encouters on the coast now consist of people that are unarmed/holding a flashlight, with no rifle slung over their shoulder. There's a small chance they'll pull a pistol out of their bag, but you can bit a bit more careful around them. It's safer to interact a bit more with other players at the start, at the expense of making zombie encounters more narrow (flight vs fight or flight). This isn't much of a problem though, because you just have to sneak into your first supermarket and there's now 3 makarovs on the floor (that's what happened to me -- i guess makarov spawns have been increased?). -
Check out this video @ about 9 minutes in: http://www.twitch.tv/actionmanzlt/b/321077880 I had been playing this character for days and was scouting the NW airfield for the first time (yeah QQ, I know), when suddenly everyone on the server hears a high-pitched noise and dies instantly. Is this a known bug or hack?

Blown up by server admin/hacker??
ActionManZlt replied to ActionManZlt's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Sorry, there was a guy named 'Administrator' laughing in the chat. I fogot that the default Arma name is your Windows login name, so this was probably just some guy who didn't rename the character. Why would hackers kill everyone in a server? Just for teh lulz? What ass-bandits...
