What would you like to see instead of heli crash's in SA?
AP_Norris replied to MitchP's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A plane with burning engine might be more dramatic.Unless they had a really realistic crash animation with breaking blades the body being thrown around on the ground by the blades. Maybe the plane could dump the cargo like on that episode of spongebob in a last ditch effort to help humanity survive the infection before a fiery end. -
Having towers is half intimidation. If a prisoner can beat the system there's still a guard on overwatch they've gotta beat. It really complicates the situation for an escape plan. If they wanna make that guards stature clear they're gonna give him something relatively big.

Lost supply trucks.Crashed in a ditch. There should be blood on the back door handle and zombies tracking the general area. It's a complete surprise what kind of stuff might spawn in the unmarked white box back truck. It's also hard to get in quietly. You have to decide whether or not the gamble is worth it. You might grab a whole crate of beans. Or you might find some old furniture, with a chance of a cardboard box with a rare antique gun, like on all those storage garage auction shows. Maybe you'll find some sort of contractor company's truck and hit the tool jackpot. Full tool kits for the whole crew. -

Buildings that randomly generates cracks for survivors to slip through [maintenance]

No. -
Most prison guards wouldn't really carry pistols would they? When they're on scene manhandling prisoners they don't want a gun that could be stolen and used. Tower guards are different though. I'd expect them to carry some sort of DMR or AR. But, I think the SA prison is a police station with a couple cells.

Reward for staying alive for a long time (instinct)

Yes, adverage eyes are trained for movement and colour. However its often impossible to pick out an animal from colour. What this makes me think is maybe like when going blind you favour hearing maybe it can be same for hunting. The slightest movement becoming instantly obvious, be it as small as a persons chest rising and falling. -
[SA] Simple mechanic for stopping one form of 'ghosting'
AP_Norris replied to Xianyu's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think there would be better ways. I often am stuck in a building and have to get off for about five minutes to wash dishes or have an unexpected violent Bowell movement. But I guess I wouldn't really mind logging onto another if I do, or if I really want to stay on that server I could probably just go AFK I'm probably with friends if I have a server like that anyway. -
I hate that logic, 3PM is cancer only one reason its even coming back and that's to view character which we can do in the inventory.:(

They are doing complete vehicle revamps, I don't see them copy and pasting the same interiors. But I'd like to see ripped up seats that have bloodstains and yellow foam sticking out in terms of getting roughed up. I also want the ability to move around inside a vehicle further than just change seats. I want to lean, I want to stick my head out the side window when my windscreen breaks. I wanna roll down those windows. I want animation for switching between the two front seats, maybe climbing between the two into the back seat. Shuffling along the back bar seat with AD, ducking below window with X. I want the glovebox and boot as separate compartments. Aswell as backseat floor. People in back can use boot in station wagons and SUVs but not in sedans. If you wanna take somebody hostage you could chuck em in the boot, if they're tied up they can still break bonds and then access limited gear. Passengers can shoot, with limited accuracy though. I would rather revamp of mechanics rather than visuals if you can tell. Cars are versatile, militaries realise that, gangsters realise that guerrilla warfare realises that. In and out quickly, perfect assault platform. My first rabbit kill was from a moving car with an air rifle. Pop guys with buckshot in the side, you don't even have to aim. DayZ should continue to revolve around the ownership of a car to some respect. A little less maintenance but scarce fuel would be great. Maybe more tools to fix parts not just toolbox but a bunch if tools toco, lecture and then put in a toolbox, much like that Medkit from E3. There's a bit of a simple class system going on there aswell if you can see. Medic mechanics, limited to roles by equipment and not skills.

They said they will change it I'm pretty sure. But if you capture a muzzle flash at the right moment expect to see that sort of size, it ain't there long enough for us to see it without high speed cameras, but it's there. The muzzle flashes will be similar but most likely you won't even notice that size flash. I personally like the big bright muzzle flashes for night combat aswell. In the darkness you can only make out faint shapes, untill somebody fires and you get a low down on their location, rewarding the patient and punishing the ones that seek to fire wildly at a moving shadow they can't keep track of before they have a shot. The ones smart enough to use flares get rewarded too. Night combat is soo underdone, people don't even attempt unless they have NVGs.

On a frosty morning down south in NZ I find that if you exhale properly (much like a sniper would be doing to steady themselfs) you can easily make a person sized cloud. If you're puffing just after a good jog you can easily get the same results. I think I would also like frosty morning. Grass should get an icy frost tinge over it and there should be a good bit of fog, especially in depressions/ valleys. Rolling fogs and frosts would both be great weather features IMO. Lying on the ground just after rain should make your clothes damp, increasing the chance of hypothermia untill it evaporates. Lying on the frosty ground shouldn't make you wet but rather just sap your warmth. These features, weather, exposure to ground conditions, and visible breath should IMO greatly reduce the effectiveness of sniping without adding anything to hindering the experience too much by not adding silly half minute puffing after holding breath COD style, or Battlefield super high beam sniper scope flashlight. You wanna snipe? Pick a good day, but make sure the grounds dry.

decapitation, put player head on spike

Can't they just release the game... And then add the gore and child zombies later on? Slowly make some weird kid headed looking zombies smaller and smaller XD nobody will even notice. -

If its realistic. I'm not sure but wouldn't being shot a lot possibly reduce the shock affect of it. Nothing like health or blood increasing that's unrealistic arcadey shooter bonuses. I however would like the game to stick to intelligence, I'm talking tactics and not cod quickscoping skills or perks for sitting ontop a building. Most of the development should come from what you pick up. Like this one time me and my friends were ambushing a Ural. I ran up onto a hill, high ground while they hid down behind a stone wall. They both nearly died while the enemies didn't even see me. After our impact on the server admins friends and stealing their 100 spawned sandbags in their Ural we were all perma banned from the server. Was good server at first look :( 400 vehicles, it was really cool. Like wastleland cross with dayZ very much fun :) lots of even sided PVP to be had. -
Sometimes I write things and I forget I've written stuff above what I can see :)

I find saying using it as a secondary is limiting.I don't think we should have primaries and secondaries. We should have items, that's all. They shouldn't have different inventory behaviour other than space. Of course you wouldn't be able to fit an AR in your shirt or a crossbow. A gun should be a hard item to manage IMO maybe you could get a strap and keep it over your back as an easy out of trying to fit it in a bag or something else. But by not having it covered up... Everyone can see it now, they see you have some pretty good gear hanging off your shoulders and decide to wait untill you've stopped so they can get a good headshot so they don't damage your loot. Where if you choose the compact guns you can keep them concealed easier. You might choose to only carry an SMG which you can easily slip in and out of a bag. Larger guns might have to be disassembled to fit into bags without poking out the top maybe to receiver from bottom halving the length taking about an extra 20 seconds to quickly fit the pieces and set in whatever pins or method of connecting the two halos of the receiver use. I'm thinking total carry load should be limited by a realistic strength idea. You could carry several hundred kilos... Of stuff all over your person. But the second limiting factor should be fatigue and stamina. Not many would be able move more than a few hundred metres with 150 kg of extra weight. I'm relatively small and I know I can lift more than 96kg on my shoulders and that's the max I've tried because the step machine at the place only goes up to 96kg of weight on your shoulders. But I doubt I could run too far with it even though it don't seem like much for a single step.

The crossbow is better than the double barrel, unless you have pellets. I would like for the crossbow the have some better sights, a bit of zeroing, and a quiver. You could hold several bolts directly onto the built in quiver thing for quicker reloading (Im thinking something similar with a special shotgun stock). An on person quiver is needed though either a hip or over the shoulder mounted, depending on the arrow/ bolt length I suppose.

SA military weapons and accessories, debris

You make a good point. If it was there before its there after. But... I never want an AC-130 in the game. It is the definition of bambi spawn killing. Fly down coastline = AC 130 win. Unless it had no ammo. But people would probably try to exploit somehow. -
I never really see people sniping from 1000m usually 500m IMO.It would be very helpful. But, I think it should for realism purposes only happen at dawn or in rainy weather.

Legitimately laughed, thankyou. The idea... It was talking about logging out, then it was on about tentacles? Once I start seeing tentacles I stop reading.

Replace doorknobs with genitalia.

Would be cool with ragdoll aswell.I would have a special mass grave cliff. At the bottom there would be a pile of rotting dead zombies and humans with awkwardly broken arms and legs from the rough ride down. Dead bodies could also be used as zombie bait.

You have a good point. Most players aren't interested in Lott at all. They shoot out of fear of loosing in a battle of wits and trickery that often comes with interacting. But they mostly fear being served up a dish of their own medicine, instantly killed, no chance to explain or reason, just a hail of automatic fire. You have to remember though things will be much rarer on the server side spawning. There won't be a new spawn of stuff in every town you enter. 90% of the food will be gone in the first couple hours, you can probably guarantee that if a player has come across a can of beans they'll have picked it up. You however want to make sure everything on that guy is intact, so you mug him. KOS people won't survive they'll simply be running on empty. However I have concerns that hero's will suffer similar fates. Maybe heroism will be reserved for late game Funtime when you can afford it. But then if there is a hero endgame there would also be a KOS endgame. And that's right where we started... But now its not really an option untill endgame, to prosper you have to be a thief, use intimidation and not killing power. It's moving towards the physiological battle IMO.
