Ok...my last question was interpreted to be trolling. I swear, I'm not trolling, I'm just that dumb about dayz. I started playing Overwatch (because my friend/dayz mentor wanted me to play with him on a server there). This mod allows for "self blood bag administration". Out of 2 blood bags I've tried, I've been infected twice...so that's 100% infection rate (so far). So WTF? What's the point of the blood bags if they end up killing you? After the first infection my buddy gave me antibiotics and it was fine. For the second one, I was alone. I ended up infected and then ran from devils castle to Stary to try to find antibiotics, just to be shot in the city. I hate being infected....the one part of the game I don't like.

uhm yeah...I just learned that I didn't understand the definition of side chat. I thought side chat was "direct communication". Had the two confused.....so this whole time I thought the direct chat was prohibited which made no sense to me. I fully agree that side chat should not be used (now that I know what it actually is). Thanks for all the responses!!!! This is a great forum. I am (very slowly) learning the game. It has a somewhat steep learning curve. Today I finally learned to light a fire and cook meat.

The server I'm playing in does not allow talking in side chat. They say you will be banned if you use audio side chat. I'm wondering why they have this rule, because side chat is useful to avoid KOS encounters. It's one of the servers starting with "US###"

I'm still pretty much a noob at DayZ with about 10-12 hrs in the game. I have figured out how to escape zombies by running through buildings or hiding in pine trees. I'm also getting pretty good at "sneaking" to avoid detection. So I was getting pretty confident in my abilities running through the woods just north of the dam/powerplant. I had just found a refillable bottle and was happy to see a water source at the bottom of the hill. Across the map (very far away from me) was a zombie running. Since I was standing still, I figured that there was no way I had aggro'd him. THis SOB ran about 500 straight at me and chased me, so I went to the nearest pine tree (a big one). The tree however, did NOT protect me (for the first time ever). He hit me and I was down in ONE HIT (I had full blood/health). I was down for about 15 sec then I was able to shoot him from prone. After he was dead I was infected and had lost my sense of hearing. I died of the infection, since I had no antibiotics. So, it seems to me that this zombie was "special": 1. He saw me from across the map and started pursuit 2. He was the only zombie I've ever seen that could penetrate the pine tree 3. He was the only zombie I've ever seen that could knock me down in one hit 4. After I was down he kept coming at me/hitting/etc and would not leave (other times I've been knocked down they lose interest I sucked dying like this, because I had just found my first automatic rifle and I had a huge backpack to also keep my axe. It was the best equipment accumulation I"ve had so far. However, it was also awesome to get attacked like this, because it scared the crap out of me and now I'm way less casual/confident, which makes the game more scary = more fun. Sorry about the long post....question is: are there special zombies with more powerful abilities, or was he just a regular zombie and I'm an idiot?
