1.7.5.1: Go beserk on the Zombies!
LaurenDanger replied to GeneralMelchett's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I wish I could get credit for running them down in vehicles. It's not easy to get them to stop spasming about and run them down properly, so it becomes a fun game. Drive up close, get out, run around and sneak out, drive back and play bumper cars. Fun times! -
What Happened On Your FIRST DAY Of DayZ?
LaurenDanger replied to Devon206 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It was late May, and I wasn't skilled in fighting zombies on my first day. Spazzing around, running in janky patterns, and they did munch on me a few times on the outskirts of Electro. I spawned again, decided to prowl around a farm, with a few nearby houses, and ended up trapped in a doorway, with zombies attacking, dirty fingers worn to the bone digging into my flesh, loose teeth scraping against my cap as I pulled away. The faint sound, a helicopter, somewhere close. I cried for help (on side chat) as I shuddered and my vision blurred, stumbling away from a horde that would not give up. The Huey descended, door gunner firing, splattering zombies across the grass, and soon three individuals led by a survivor pilot named Otis were there to help. They eased my pain, patched me up, ensured Ai was better, and then asked if I would like to ride in the chopper. They would let me be a door under and gain revenge on those foul corpses that had assaulted me. Otis is still my hero. And through everything in the game, I have STILL never fired first, I have tried to give people rides on those rare occasions I find a vehicle, and I refuse to be a bandit. All because of a helicopter that dropped in to save me on my first day. We won't mention the desynch that happened near those power lines that put me on the ground as the chopper raced away. -
Try something different, so I never shoot on sight, thus I should? Hmm. Maybe not that bit. But maybe bandit hunt rather than avoid, that would be interesting. :)

What is Your First Instinctive Reaction When Spotting a Player?
LaurenDanger replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Stop, take cover, observe. If I am spotted, lay down fire and pull back to safe spot and hide. If not spotted, try to see if it is a bandit. If so and there's an advantage, I might want to be the hero, but generally, just fade away. If it's a new spawn I will make friends, share food and drink, leave a weapon near by and then I am on my way. Injured players get help most of the time. Lauren danger will help as often as possible. I also provide rides if I manage to get a vehicle running and even have gotten good at escaping the ambush situations of those who lie about needing a ride and then open fire on me. -
anyone else feel like rocket missed the boat with the SA?
LaurenDanger replied to tripl_b's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
People are still uploading to TouTube, and we have cartoons and even short films based on this mod some guy made for a game released a few years ago. The interest is steady even if it is a bit lower than it was last summer. If Mr. Hall and rhe team build a game that gets good reviews, then the story behind it plus the product will get back the hype and be more profitable than trying to cash in on the early hype. Sure, the quick sales BI could have had before Christmas might not be so quick now, but the sharp cliff won't be there either if the product is not better. Think of it this way: you can raid the tents for quick loot or occupy the town with a properly planned siege. Both have merits, but one is remembered more than the other. -
Public works if you join when the population is low and log out at the first mention of a hacker anywhere. A hacker wants an audience, wants to teleport more than a few people to the NWAF to blast them to bits or host a dance party. Sure, there's no safety on the low population public servers but the times I've been subjected to mass teleport and thundering explosions of doom, there have been at least ten to twelve people. The drawback of a private server that I have found is that they can change the map, so all of your hard work might vanish because they have gone from Cherno to Taviana and then Panthera to keep things interesting for them. I suppose more research on a server is required for the private ones. Just opinions. :)

[MOD] Weapons Poll - Overpowered vs Underpowered - Tell me if you think a weapon should be buffed or nerfed
LaurenDanger replied to Grimzentide's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Funny, I've used most of these but a bunch I rated at 3. The biggest issue is that the pistols need figuring out. As I figure it, against a zombie, you need tee or four shots for the M1911 and the 45 revolver, and those shouldn't take more than two shots to the body. The 9x19 weapons shouldn't take more than three, and the 9x18 maybe four. It's a nice mix. Purpose built SD weapons, maybe they could do a bit less damage since the round is slowed a bit as well as the gasses being bled off. And, hm. Well the Winchester could go the same route of the .45 revolver. Two hits rather than one on a shuffling zombie. But then if they introduced a .50 cal Desert Eagle or big revolver, it would make the whole be a nice beast with fewer rounds and make the Enfield look like a tambourine when we talk about what gun is the dinner bell. -
v175 beta: meat issues [solved] [old]
LaurenDanger replied to Dayzo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There is a lot to read in the replies but I will just hope I am not repeating anyone too badly since I may have missed someone stating this as I skimmed across. The idea of the DayZ mod as an anti-game and an attempt at putting in as much of how it would be in real life means that yes, being a solo player is rough. But then it is still only a game and you do get new lives and part of the challenge is building up and surviving and being able to take on the potential 'enemies'. But whatever the changes, it is a game, stil being developed, and you have to respect the hard work. Human nature indicates that you can complain about a result and it might annoy the creator, but complain about the creator and you anger the creator. People push back, and if you assault the people doing the work, verbally as it is in this situation, they might want to push back and make the things that annoy you even worse just to spite you. Okay, I doubt that it would happen in this situation, but I am sure they joked about making it even tougher when looking at the complaint and how it was made. All of this is based on my play style which is solo player. But when I need help, I make friends, we trade, work together, and then I go on my way. If all we do is insult each other, we end up killing one another and the game becomes team death match. I can go play Chivalry when I want that. We all have the right to say "I do not like this and these are the reasons why" and that should be celebrated. but that does not give us the right to say "I do not like this and you are an idiot for making it" Alright, my ranting is done. People, play nice. We're all tanking and feeling human beings, all trying new things, and we have to respect the effort and the person making it, even if we despise the result. -
Is it okay to abort when a hacker spawns on you?
LaurenDanger replied to Mother Phuftbucket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I hear a hint of a hacker on side channel and I prepare to log out of the server and visit some other time. So if you know it is a hacker, then yes, abort, log out, shut down the game, whatever it takes to spoil the twisted idea that hacking is fun for the hacker. -
No Pepsi, Coca-Cola or Heinz in standalone
LaurenDanger replied to SmashT's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I wanted to put up a big "who cares" banner about this but I do like Heinz and their beans in tomato sauce, though they taste better when in Europe than when I buy them in Canada, where the labels are all wrong anyway. I'll admit, back in June when I was in Sweden and saw a shelf full of the proper blue label Heinz beans, I took a picture. Why? Okay I had played DayZ for about a month before my trip and despite the constant spawn killing at the hands of snipers, there was an attachment to the Mod this Dean Hall fellow had made. Games do influence us. Coke and Pepsi, whatever, There have to be some local brands from Russian and Eastern European areas that could get a quick parody and be fun, and if Heinz does not respond, we'll live with it. I will still open a tin when having a proper Full English breakfast, wherever I am when I have it, but I have to admit, that what we see in games can stick with us. Of course, I am not chugging Mountain Dew and eating Doritos all day long because it was a sponsor of some Halo game, but I do notice the beans because it was in the game. Our immersion does impact us, and what we experience in the game, while we make friends and flee enemies and eat to keep our virtual presence alive, well, it remains long after a talking head spamming us about sponsorship that's not in a game would remain. Long live the beans! -
Bad place to play: 3xA.Gaming.Net Panthera Server
LaurenDanger posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I encountered a bunch of Ill mannered fellows on a panthera server, and you nice folks might want to stay clear of this place. 3xA gaming. IP 216.244.86.218:2309 Players in particular raging Apple Deejay2000 Lanky Man wrekt Em Slightly mysoginistic and certainly kill new spawns on sight. Server default spawns you with a makarov, so obviously these are very poor sportsmen, amassing heaps of zeros and ones in the form of a virtual kill tally. Advice: don't play here. I am not crying or anything, I had a good laugh about their poor attitudes in reaction to my trying to find out why they gunned me down. Apparently the answers were no, we drink the tears of girls and go cry little girl. It if you want to try Panthera one day, don't bother with this one. -
Thinking of coming back
LaurenDanger replied to Fear The Amish's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Some script kiddies are around. I did plan on lowering my play time until Standalone, but I figure that hackers aside, this is good practice for what's ahead so I am still playing. Besides, different maps make life a bit more interesting. Give it a try and have fun, practice, and prepare for better days with a game beyond the mod. That's my plan. -
Prone and double tapping shift to go slow are good ways to start while you get used to where things are on a particular map. If you get into zombie trouble, stand up and run, use bushes and pine trees to try and lose the line of sight. And always save one drink and one food just in case.

My bais has me voting for Panda and Lewis as best performance with the Ural Pinball games. The main stream was annoying, not showing anything, but to see the actual players and get their strategies and reactions, that was great. I hope there's another one soon, though a slightly earlier start would be nice. Just my opinion.
-
Penguin and Claw, I think. I had martial arts so I left before the end (just after the tragedy of Panda being run over by Lewis) and that's why my google search showed. I think new winners every time shows that this is worth continuing!

Sing a song, do a dance, chat, and if they recover from the shock, maybe make new friends. Could I die? Sure, but it's only a game.

Your way of saying "friendly"
LaurenDanger replied to harley001's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If shock and awe keeps me alive, I'm thrilled and I'll keep chatting, I know there are a few of us girls who play, though I've never seen proof of any others except for some posting here, and maybe in a YouTube video. -
Your way of saying "friendly"
LaurenDanger replied to harley001's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I simply hit the mic and talk. Generally something like "oh hello, don't mind me, just scavenging and trying to avoid zombies. How are you?" And I suppose most are afraid of girls because they don't reply and they leave me alone. It doesn't happen often that i encounter other players anymore, but I know two days ago I saw someone with an Enfield near me that I chattered at, and I was ignored. But someone else (also fresh and with a hatchet) was killed in the area I left about two minutes later. The side chat was full of anger about it. Basically, I am just, well, me! I think it intrigues people. -
The most terrifying thing Rocket could add......

We have many clowns playing this game already. I guess giving them appropriate attire so we can find them would help. ;) -
[Video] The revolver is too weak (Random wayz part 19)
LaurenDanger replied to albinorhino's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
But that player wasn't doing anything to you. So it seems like a strange reaction to me. Maybe phrase you reason and state that you punish people for not knowing how to play instead of refusing to talk to you. Not everyone prints a list of commands or knows everything about how Arma2 works. So he runs because he realises he doesn't know how to answer, and at least education would be a better reason that pissed off for being ignored or what have you. -
Hahahahaha. A new spawn girl ran around and sang songs while you wasted lots of ammunition. You know, you can practice with weapons in Arma2 without wasting your rounds in DayZ... And no claims of "those were warning shots" because twenty or thirty silenced shots is more than a warning. It sounded like rice kris pies for a while there. Yet...Not even a scratch on me. I hope my horrible singing wasn't too annoying. See, when you die, friends, and your gear is bad and you spawn near a notorius place for ghillie sniper bandits who try to kill everything, you too can have a lot of fun. I never even fired a shot, I just ran back and forth, up and down, round and round, and got away. Maybe it saved some noob's life who spawned near Electro and decided to run in. Who can say. It was fun, though!

The Crossbow Crusader Challenge.
LaurenDanger replied to Malmortius's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I am a miserable shot with the crossbow. But I have one in this new spawn and will try to use it until head shots via M1911 become too tempting to resist. Something about the classics, after all. -

LaurenDanger replied to LaurenDanger's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Thanks, Face. Finally saw the new a-Team movie so I get the flying a tank thing a bit better now. I should try and make time to cause chaos for bandits on Friday, I'll let you know. -

Woohoo, beans! Thank you! And yes the title makes it look like a complaint, but why complain when you can entertain? One of these days I'll find someone to tell me how I make vids and we can all share in my whacky DayZ adventures. The ladies need to keep up, I figure. -

Of course it can be put in a cup. That's how they do it in the pharmaceutical industry. Look up Premarin, the Hormone drug for ladies of, shall we say, advancing age. When you see why it's called Premarin, you'll know. You may wish you didn't. Science. It's fabulously strange.
